John , Joseph Gray here .., I just watched this interview , I completely enjoyed hearing the way you approached this album . While I had my own ideas of how the songs came to be , this was fabulous hearing from the artist . Too many touching moments to go over , but one was that Lauren’s ashes were used in the 3 murals …., I would like very much to visit one of those murals one day …. As you may already know my favorite song on the album is I don’t want say goodbye …, I can finally play through the song without breaking down.,, that song is special to me and strikes an emotional response …. The sign of a great artist I love you John and I admire your strength Hope to see you soon . 🎼🎶🎸💕

Only four hits? You guys obviously are just casual observers. Die hard the hunter is one of the best songs on the album. It was a staple during the hysteria tour. Billy's got a gun is an all time epic. Comin' under fire was going to be released as a fifth single. I think you guys are way off on that aspect.

The beginning of the end started during the Diver Down sessions. Eddie wanted to incorporate the keyboard more and Dave/Templeman wanted him to be satisfied being a guitar hero. Templeman also started clashing with Eddie on wanting to do more covers. As a result, Eddie built the 5150 Studio and pretty much did his thing and it pissed the two of them off.

Absolutely one of my favorite movies ever. Perfectly done in my opinion. One thing I don’t believe was mentioned (though I coulda missed it) Lenny Montana who played Luca Brasi was an actual enforcer and bodyguard for the Colombo Crime Family. I remember reading He was extremely nervous about acting with Brando. The scene where he’s going over what he’s gonna say over his speech to Don Corleone was actually him practicing his lines so he wouldn’t screw up. He didn’t know he was being filmed. Cool fact in my opinions noon but could just be urban legend as well. In any case. Love the movie and I now need to watch it this weekend.

@@3324podcast Goodfellas is a great movie. The characters and actors that played them were amazing at times. The whole movie grabbed you right from the beginning. The Godfather...It wins hands down. The entire movie was this journey you were a part of. You were at Michael's side as he transformed into the Don. Part of you loved these people by the end of the movie. Even though they were the "Bad Guys" You were invested in their story. You felt Tessio's betrayal...You wanted Moe Greene dead....You wanted to be in that office as the door closed.

Thanks, this was fun to listen to. I got into Meat Loaf after his death so it's interesting to hear what it was like for people at the time. A couple things - I don't think Meat Loaf ever had a stroke. Jim did. Meat had back problems and asthma. And I've read many times that Bat Out of Hell is one story. I never got it until I found a post on Reddit that explained the whole thing. I'm not sure the post is 100% correct but it makes sense. Basically it's the story of a guy who dies in a motorcycle crash and the rest of it is him remembering his life as he dies, the women he loved, the mistakes he made, etc. So it's all out of order, which is what threw me off.

2 things: 1. The Dukes of Hazzard theme song was done by Waylon Jennings 2. I was a DJ on my college radio station back in 1990 and we went rummaging through the station’s roomful of old 45s one night in between our shows. One of the ones we found was a 45 of the Banana Splits theme song. Fun fact; if you play it at 33 instead of 45, it actually sounds like a legitimate Motown song.

i think the conversation with mutt occured. but you have to go back and remember that leppard were no one in january of 83. the first two records bombed worldwide. they sold reasonably well but never went gold or anything. their influences were glam, queen and such!! they were nobodies when pyro came out. pyromania is perfection. and anyone that states they were leppard fans prior to pyro is suspect to me. i'm sure there are some but it's way in the minority. i'm willing to bet over 90% of their fans jumped on with pyromania not with high n dry or the debut.

I've got On Through the Night recorded in '79 and released in 1980--all good either way! -here's a link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Through_the_Night

Def Leppard uniqueness sound in the 80s the other bands tried to replicate…why…it became to saturated and grunge came in the 90s.

I'm still trying to think of any major band that tried to "copy" their sound-it was uniquely their own-thanks for watching!

Poison, warrant, firehouse, seriously go back and listen to those albums that came after pyromania, especially the drums.

What amaze me is how Def Leppard got signed when they were just teenagers in short time span after releasing their EP…..Rick 15, Sav/Pete/Steve 17, and Joe 18. What other band did that??? Now when Joe came in and then Rick to make it complete first lineup of Def Leppard …when…they formed within a year they got signed to a record label and supporting big acts on tour as teenagers. What other band did that??? Wish you guys had mentioned this.

Robert briefly mentioned that they pretty much formed and then got signed-but it is an amazing part of their story!

Rick Allen didn't really play drums on this album.....all the drums are digital...only the cymbals are Rick Allen....that's why this album never really grabbed me....too much of a overproduced sound.

That's the blessing and the curse of this album-it is very accessible, but in doing so, it sacrifices the rougher edges...

@@moodlefyful From what I've read (and it's in the episode) the drums were recorded last, but everything I've found says that he played them, just not until the end of the recordings...
