This is just a taster of what is to come. Over the winter we are going to do a major refit and then next season we will see where Isaura takes us.

Just subscribed. Buying a 1974 westerly centaur layout A next week, as long as it passes a couple particular checks. Curious how you update yours.
We were re-glassing stiffeners into these boats 40 years ago so its nothing new .Unless you sort the hull out internally just dropping them etc will not solve the problem.

Well done video! Good to see what you've done to repair the crack, especially the work in the cabin. While I hope I'll never need the info, I'll keep it in mind should it happen.

Interesting boom vang setup you've got for the roller reefing. Is that a custom job?
Really good video! I've recently bought a westerly centaur and converting it to live in for the winter so removing the old vinyl headliner, sanding it and then insulating. Probably a basic question, but what do you use to sand the fibreglass? Is it a special material compared to what you would use to sand wood? Thanks!

Brilliant video. As an ex pat Guernseyman it was great to see St Peter Port again. The building you pointed out with all the flower boxes is the offices of Barclays Private Clients, I used to work there it is called Le Marchant House. Great to see as it's very rare for anyone to film up that way. Herm Island is certainly worth a visit if you're ever back that way.

perkins leonard Hi I hear what you are saying I do agree to a point I put a life jacket on when I'm working on the deck or if it is rough. In my opinion it does not pay to be over cautious.
Interesting approach to the lighting. Can I ask what wattage & LED size you used for the white ones? Also, looks like some sort of rigid sheet material for the headlining panels - what was that & has it worked well for you? Many thanks: We are facing this task before too long...
sorry for the delay in getting back to you I have been doing other things. The LED lighting was what I bought off eBay in a 5 meter lenth. The material I used for the headlining is Vynil covering 4 mil ply

what I did was actually stripped all the running rig. And ran it through the washing machine. came up like new. And all green staining gone. 😎
did you lose much headroom? and how long did it take?
hi I lost just over an inch in headroom. The insulation up above has made a big difference if I bought another Centaur I would do it again. The worst thing about the whole job was the dust from the sanding of the old glue on the underside of the deck. one other bonus was the before I put the new head linning up I fitted a length of plastic conduit up there to run all my wires in from the control panel through to the toilet and to the Base of the mast I hope this helps and If I can help any further please come back to me. steve.

I am Belgian and I have plans to buy a Centaur in 2017 myself to discover the South and East Coasts of England. The only doubt I have is the average time and speed it would take me to cross over from Belgium to England. Can you tell me what average speeds you can get out of a Centaur ?
Hein Callens Hi there sorry about the late reply the Centaur is a great safe boat you get a real feeling of safety from her. You ask about the speed, if you push them hard they will do seven knots but will be very happy to travel all day at five to six knots. They must be good they made 2500 of them. When I went across the channel it took us 24 hours to do I think it was about 110 miles and part of that was pushing against the tide. I am going back again this June but we are going for three weeks and also going to France perhaps St Malo and other places. I hope this message gets to you before you make a decision about what boat to buy. I would buy another the only thing that I am not to happy about is the size of the cockpit it is ok for two but is cramped with anymore. I hope this has been of help. Steve
