Clean and easy fix. Strange about the test cartridge
It’s nice to have an easy one occasionally!! That cartridge will be reflashed and that should fix it🐺🐺😁😁
Mold from knuckleheads drunk and spitting into the cartridges. Probably was laying in beer and other filth. Oooooo! Discusting. 🤢
Love a simple fix
Totally agree!! It’s nice to have an easy every once in a while 🐺🐺😁😁
It's uncanny how Dr. Mario never fails to rehabilitate Gameboys gone astray. Nice, engaging video!
Thank you!! Dr.Mario just gets it!! He will always have a special place on this channel!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Nice fix! Any plans to build it into a PoCo? I had a pocket as a kid and regret selling it. I've thought about buying one to build a PoCo, but I already think my color feels small in the hand, so I imagine a pocket is too uncomfortable.
Thank you!! That would be pretty awesome!! I’m going to have to look into building one!! The pocket is super tiny. I feel like the Gameboy color is the perfect size. Not too small and not big and bulky like the DMG🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Seems like the memory chip keeps dumping causing it to reload or not boot into game at times.
Seems like the memory chip keeps dumping causing it to reload or not boot into game at times.
Off camera I’ve tried putting a new capacitor, memory and swapping in a know working cic chip and it does the same thing. I haven’t tried swapping the ROM out onto a working board yet. I think the ROM is damaged somehow 🐺🐺😁😁
Arite sweet
Sweeeeeeeeet!!! 🐺🐺🐺🐺😁😁🤣
halfway thru so far I saw the reset actually started working when you were spamming it 😅 Let's see how the rest of this plays out
Sometimes you just need to spam the reset to get it going again!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Good job Man
Thank you!! I appreciate that!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Great.. a nice easy fix this time. Thanks for another entertaining video.
Thank you!! It’s nice to have an easy one every once in awhile!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Good job! Those power switches often start to get corroded, too, and can be opened up and cleaned pretty easily. I modded a lavender LED into one of these that didnt come with one from the factory and it turned out awesome! Might be something you would like to try out.
Thank you!! I will have to look into that!! It would be nice to have a power LED!! 🐺🐺😁😁
@@wolfmanrepairs I think I first learned of this mod from yourcoolunclemarissa, so you might be able to get some more info by looking them up. Hope it goes well and look forward to seeing that video ;)
Thanks for the info!! I will have to look into it!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Arite sweet 😅
Awesome!!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁🤣
exactly what i needed to see about to fix my genesis now thanks for your help
Awesome!!! Glad the video was able to help you out!! 🐺🐺😁😁
suggestion: make the psu smaller so it's flush with the back of the unit
Thank you for the suggestion!! I will have to look into getting a 3D printer so I can accomplish this 🐺🐺😁😁
@@wolfmanrepairs Yeah, me too. I have a few friends that have them but it's not the same as having your own and tinkering. Out of curiosity, any leads on sourcing just the pin connector? Seems wasteful to buy a $25 psu then just rip out the one part. Of course, in your case you do end up using the rest of the case.
I’ve been looking for just the connector for a while now. The cheapest way I can get one is ordering an aftermarket power supply and cutting that connector off. It’s still expensive just for a connector!! If you find any let me know 🐺🐺😁😁
11:54 ummm yes you are
🤣🤣🤣 did you break something more than it was broken already?? 🐺🐺🐺🤣🤣🤣
Ahrite sweet 😅
🤣🤣🤣 that’s pretty neat!!! 🐺🐺🐺🤣🤣🤣
Great video! I need to practice reflowing with an iron, every time I've tried I end up bridging pins that I can't clear by swiping like you just did, so I end up grabbing the solder sucker to remove the excess.
Thank you!! I found that the more flux I use the easier it is to clear bridged pins with the iron. Sometimes I still will need to use some solder braid to get bridging cleared up.🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
I just recently fixed this exact same game the same way. Just bad solder joints on the chips.
It seems to be a common failure on these cartridges. Thankfully it’s a pretty easy fix!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Maybe it was bad from the factory and never got played, hence no saves. Anyway, great job!
Thank you!! That could be!! I would have been super disappointed as a kid if that happened to me!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Just commented on your latest video of where you got the tester cartridge from. This is absolutely brilliant!
Thank you!! I saw your other comment too. Glad you found the video about it!! My brothers did an awesome job on this cartridge!! 🐺🐺😁😁
WOW! When did the test cartridge get made? Have I missed something?
A couple days ago
Yeah it’s pretty awesome!! I posted a video a few days ago on it🐺🐺😁😁
Another great video. Thanks
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Great work. Its funny how often the bad solder joints is the culprit with these games. Probably not the biggest deal in reality, but I would maybe remove the battery before soldering next time.
Thank you!! Yes it seems that this is the issue for most gameboy games. You make a good point about the battery. It could cause issues especially if power and ground for the battery are near each other on the chip!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Awesome ingenuity! How's the longevity of your n64 (crusty) going to be with an extra .3 amps running through the power?
Thank you!! I’m not sure if the console will pull the full 3 amps. I don’t have a dc amp meter. But we will see what happens!! 🐺🐺😁😁
@@wolfmanrepairsI worried for no reason lol. I read up on it and with dc supposedly most dc loads only only draw the amperage they need.
What's that wire across C46 at 15:26?
That’s a bristle from the cheap brushes I have. It happens every time I use them. It’s really annoying!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Just ordered the ROM for my flashcart; excited to give it a try. I'll miss Dr. Mario though
Just cleared Wolf Adventure; it was short, but I enjoyed it, and the testing suite will definitely be handy. If you update the ROM do we the update included as part of our purchase?
Thank you so much for your purchase!! I really appreciate it!! Dr. Mario will always have a place in our hearts on this channel!! I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the Wolf Adventure!! It is kinda short but there’s also multiple endings too. I sent you a message through Etsy as well. Just send me your email address and if we update it I will send the update to you. 🐺🐺😁😁
@@wolfmanrepairs Multiple endings?! I hadn't realized. Is the ending you get random? Or do you have to do certain things to achieve them?
You have to do different things to achieve them. Try getting all the items and then try getting as few as possible. If you pause it you can see the items you got already. 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁🐺🐺
@@wolfmanrepairs I'm definitely a collector of items, because I paused to ensure I had everything before leaving an area 😂
That is the coolest thing ever!!!
Thanks so much!! I totally agree!!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Just checked Etsy and they want £52 delivery charge for postage to the UK 😢
That’s crazy!! Contact me through my website and we will see if we can get it to you for less than that!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Yeah same for Sweden 🥲 and also 15 for tax 🥲🥲
Woah!! Sorry guys!! I wonder if that’s just Etsy doing that or it actually costs that much to ship internationally. Send me an email through my website and I will see what we can do. 🐺🐺😁😁
"Wolf bros" 😂😂😂 What a fantastic little cartridge. You guys should open source it / sell these (for other systems as well)
Thank you!! My bros are pretty awesome!! I will ask them about doing that!! I do know the ROM will work in Gameboy mode on the N64 if you have a n64 everdrive🐺🐺😁😁
If you don't give your brothers a raise, somebody will. Who doesn't like a game during "tiny screws" and blah-blah testing?
They really out did themselves on this!! I will have to look into giving them a raise!! 🐺🐺😁😁
This is such an awesome idea!
They really did an awesome job!! It’s really nice to have everything needed to test out a Gameboy in one cartridge!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Wow ! You have awesome brothers !!! Thanks to you & your brothers for a fantastic. video.
Thank you!! I totally agree!! They are pretty amazing!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Your brothers are frigging awesome!!! I hope you can send the news pf this around to some retro gaming channels because this is great stuff!
Thank you!! I agree they are pretty awesome!! They put a bunch of work into this and it’s really amazing!! It tests everything you need to test on a Gameboy!! That would be amazing if other channels pick up a copy!! Fingers crossed!! 🐺🐺😁😁
can game gear broken thin wires be soldered? how can it be when there is no "how to expose copper wire?"
I’m not clear on what wire you are talking about, however if there is a trace that is broken it can be repaired by scraping away the solder mask to expose the copper underneath and soldering a wire to that. If the wires from the main board to the audio and power board are broken you can run a wire from the main board to the other boards no problem or retrosix sells replacements. Hope that helps!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Nice fix and awesome that you took care of that nasty corrosion! Please pet mini-wolf (The cat) from me ^^
Thank you!!! I appreciate that!! I have petted the cat thoroughly for you!! 🐈⬛🐈⬛😁😁
The VA3 has the best stock audio. I'm not sure why they would even mess with an audio mod on this VA3 since it is for other model 1 consoles.
I’m not sure either. I also could not find any info on this mod for the VA3 🐺🐺
I really like the idea of using the low-temp melt solder for removing the SMD caps. You're the first I've seen who does that and I'm definitely going to try that in the future
I really like doing it that way. I feel like there’s less stress on the pads 🐺🐺😁😁
Yeah.... This is EXACTLY why I don't do these kinds of mods to my consoles. I much prefer them in their original state, and even if I didn't, I still wouldn't want to screw around with the circuitry and risk something like this happening. I mean taking apart the console to see the circuitry and chips is one thing but modifying it is just way too much for me....
The SMD components on the bottom are glued by the factory, My guess is they did this, so they wouldn't have to heat up the board twice to melt the solder paste on top and bottom. They are a pain to remove without fiddling around with the Iron on the sides. My guess was the person who was trying to attempt the mod might had been too rough and ripped the pad off.
I think so too!! It’s also hard to see what’s going on. That microscope is truly a game changer!! 🐺🐺😁😁
So glad to see you tackle a model 1 wolfman! 👏
Thank you!! It’s crazy how different it is when you compare it to a model 2!! 🐺🐺😁😁
You know you're in for a ride when not only is a housing screw missing, but the top half of the RF shielding is gone as well. At least it isn't necessary, unless you're still using RF.
Yup!! Thankfully I don’t plan on using the RF output but it would have been nice to have!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Great soldering job. Thanks for another entertaining video.
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Nice job !
Thank you!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Huh, there's the "Preamp Fix" for VA0-VA2, but VA3 is supposed to be the gold standard on which the Triple Bypass is based, so not sure what that mod is supposed to do
It's to reduce the lowpass filter to basically match the audio heard on VA0-VA2.
@@TheHulkingMenace Yea, it restores non-muffled audio without an overdriven preamp.
It seems like a pretty straightforward mod and the console sounds really nice!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Ah OK. Just replace C46/C47 with 4700pf caps? I don't have a VA3 but I'll give it a try on one of my VA6 boards sometime.
@@ZonicMiragetry using 1000pF for really unfiltered audio. 😅 VA0-VA2 uses these by default.
Nice easy fix. Thanks for sharing.
It’s nice to have an easy one every now and again!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Werewolf vs Vampire... 😂
I figured it would be perfect for Halloween!! 🎃 🐺🐺🐺
Another fine repair job! Nice work removing the Audio/Video box. That thing is such a pain in the a$$ that we typically just cut the metal cover back to get to the caps and don't mess with desoldering that thing. Such a great feeling replacing caps then seeing it fire back up working! Awesome!
Thank you!! I got lucky on this one the av box was partially removed already!! If it wasn’t I would still be there trying to desolder it!! 🤣🤣🐺🐺
@@wolfmanrepairs 😆😆😆
Perfect video again 👏👏😁
