Dead Xbox 360 Controller!! Deep Clean & Teardown!!
I just used the master code.
Good old Game Genie!! The only way I was able to beat games as a kid!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Prolly didn't have to discharge since it leaked everywhere 😅
You’re probably right!! I didn’t want to chance it and get a shocking surprise!! 🤣🤣🤣🐺🐺🐺
The Genesis console was not a bad one I had the original first one. About $180 from Sears. But the Sega CD was the worst purchase I ever made 200.00 for a piece of crap add on.
That’s crazy!! The SEGA CD still commands a hefty price!! It’s about $100 broken on eBay and that’s for the model 2 SEGA CD!! I remember when I got the SEGA CD playing Sewer Shark and thinking what is this… 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Those wires are a factory fix to a known issue
I wonder what revision they fixed the issue. If you look at a VA4 vs a VA1 they are so different!! 🐺🐺😁😁
I'm pretty sure the metal pieces are just additional RF shielding. I definitely know the random screw is for attaching a Mega/Sega CD's joining plate.
Yes that’s what it looks like to me too. I think it’s missing a that big piece that goes into the SEGA CD. 🐺🐺😁😁
Yaaaaay
It’s always nice to get one of these back up and running again!! 🐺🐺😁😁
The bodge wires 100% are from the factory, cheaper than redesigning the board when an issue was found. Might have had grounding problems where the power jack needed a better connection to the system's ground plane. A bodge wire could have been added to reinforce or reroute the ground.
Your probably right about the wires. It’s seems to be a SEGA thing!! I’ve seen a bunch of different variations of this and other bodge wires from SEGA!! Especially on the Genesis!! 🐺🐺😁😁
An easy fix for a change. Thanks for another entertaining video.
Thank you!! It’s nice to have easy ones every now and again!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Pretty sure those wires are factory. I've seen them in several model 2's myself, and they always look pretty much like yours did. I'm guessing that was Sega's quick and dirty "fix" when they started receiving reports of the power jacks coming loose. Nice fix as always.
Thank you!! You’re probably right about the wires. The thing that throws me off every time is that they are usually different gauge wires from one console to the next. Sometimes the are different colors and sometimes they are glued down. I even had a console where the wires were pinched in the shell. 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
@wolfmanrepairs sounds like a factory botch fix issue. "Boss we are out if wires" "Well use whatever man these aren't even part of the plan we are winging it for holiday season"
I wonder what the SEGA factory looked like. That must have been pretty cool to see back in the day. Holliday season 1992: People running around yelling just solder some wires in there it might fix it!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🐺🐺🐺🐺
I have fixed a few of these model 2 systems and it is always the power port needing a reflow lol. Sometimes the occasional trace repair. You can pick these up for dirt cheap, too, when they are "broken". Glad it was an easy fix!
I would say I’ve seen this issue in about half of the “broken” consoles I’ve fixed. Its either the power port, the cartridge slot is just dirty, broken solder joints at the controller or it’s just totally doesn’t work no matter what you do it it 🤣🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁😁
Ahrite. Sweet!
Awesome!!! 🤣🤣🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Love an easy fix, great job!
Thank you!! That power port is always an issue on these!! 🐺🐺😁😁
I do like this kind of content as well. I bought a jack, stands, and tools from Harbor Freight last year and have been teaching myself with the help of the Internet; I commute a lot for work, so I've already "paid off" everything with the amount of money I've saved doing my own maintenance and repairs.
That’s awesome!!! It’s amazing how much money you can save doing this stuff on your own vs going to a dealership!! I’m glad to her you like this content as well!! I will definitely be posting some more automotive stuff. I have a ton of repairs I need to do on my pickup!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
This was good. I also fix electronics and cars, so right up my alley. BTW you missed a click there at the end I think haha ;)
That’s awesome!!! I’m glad theres more people out there who do the same thing I do!! I will definitely be sprinkling in more automotive content!! I think you’re right!! I did miss a click!! The old elbow torque wrench is getting a bit old!! 🐺🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁😁
Best beginning ever :)
Thank you!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Dad, Uncle Nick fixed the car again and i helped! ☺
🤣🤣 thank you for holding the flashlight and handing me the tools!! 🐺🐺🐺🤣🤣🤣
U got a shop? Arite sweet
Nah no shop just a garage or as I call it the Wolf Den!! 🐺🐺🐺🤣🤣🤣
@wolfmanrepairs been meaning to ask. Do you have a site where I can submit a request for a quote on repair? Got this N64 power supply i just almost fully tore apart but then thought "shit if this dude can fix anything". 😅
Yes I do have a site!! That would be awesome to take a look at!! TH-cam is funny about putting links in comments so hopefully this works. The website is wolfmanrepairs dot com. Or you can email me wolmanrepairs at Gmail. 🐺🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁😁
Cool stuff.
Thank you!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Wow ! From video repair to brake replacement ! What could be next ? Thanks for another Fantastic video.
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it!! More stuff incoming!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Use flux with solder wick. Will make it so much easier.
Totally agree!! I Ive been dipping my solder wick in flux now!!
What product you used for cleaning
I used 99% Isopropyl Alcohol to clean the contacts
Had the exact same issues with the throttle and attempted to clean the carb and place it back on the engine. Went to start it and had the same exact symptoms. Needless to say, ordering a new carb pronto. It's such a simple carb so I'm not sure what's getting stuck in there. Thanks for the vid!
Yeah I dont know what happened. Im assuming its some corrosion in one of the fuel passages that we just cant clean out!!
@@wolfmanrepairs Yeah! Do you know where the idle adjustment screw is on these Chinese carbs?
The idle adjustment screw is towards the top of the carburetor. You should be able to see it if you’re looking at the machine from the back. It’s opposite of the throttle cable. The screw pushes on a black piece of plastic. Hope that helps!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Thanks for the update
Your welcome!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Thank you for taking my advice about calibration :) For me, the tester software works only on Chrome. I don't know why through.
Thank you for telling me about it!! I appreciate it!! I should try to contact the developer of the tester and tell them what I found!! 🐺🐺😁😁
@wolfmanrepairs I hope they answer you :)
Thanks for the update!!!Thats why i told you to test it with bluetooth.
Thank you!! I’m pretty surprised that the browser made a difference!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Before I start this video. I'm excited these are what I mod everyday 😂
End of the video. 😬
@@RetroRich91yeah this GBA is still kinda messed up!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Well it's probably safe to say that we ALL learned something new with this latest conundrum. Great detective work, Nick!
Thank you!! Yes definitely!! I still cant believe that it was just the web browser!!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Thanks for the update.
No problem!!! 🐺🐺😁😁
anybody know what overhead camera he uses? It's great
Believe it or not It’s a beat up Samsung S21!! The stand is a Viozon Tablet Phone Overhead Stand. 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
@@wolfmanrepairs Wow that's great. I think I have one with cracked screen laying around.
I see your wrists... I see why they call you "wolfman" 😅
You don’t know the half of it!! Copious hair everywhere except for my head!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺
Awesome job man. Just don't forget that some glues are extremely toxic!
Thank you!! I need to remember to use the fume extractor fan that I have. Even breathing in the flux is probably not good!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
What ever liquid you cleaned out of there got to other parts of the controller, look under a micro scope for the damage.
Ah yes the perfect asmr. Beeps and sweets.
Thank you!! I try!! 🐺🐺🤣🤣
Alright sweet. Now i gotta wait for the coleco fix
PS5. Dualsense. Controller Analog. Stick. Replacement. Wolfman. Needs
Yes Wolfman needs all of these things!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Google dualsense calibrate, I keep trying to post the link but my comment is not showing up
I will have to try that!! Thank you!!🐺🐺😁😁
Hope you can get it working, damn things are expensive and recently went up in price. There's also Bluetooth adapters (with no noticeable lag) that lets you use them on PS1/PS2 if you want to get one for yourself
I hope I get it working too!! I will have to look into a Bluetooth adapter!! That would be pretty neat!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Desoldering is a pain in the butt, I don't have a desoldering gun and looking at this video I may not need one after all.
Yeah I can never get this one to work the way I want it to work!! Low melt sold and braid is all you really need!! 🐺🐺😁😁
i'm guessing that mountain dew you cleaned got to the button ribbon. i would give that a good cleaning. Also when putting in new toggles, let the board cool down before installing the new ones. I've done mine like you did while it was hot and come to find out that the board melts the plastic bottoms of those toggles and screws up the drift again.
th-cam.com/video/Nmi1Thw4LGU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-hx7CXzT_V5TrQQf
I will have to take it apart again and check for liquid damage!! I didn’t think of that when I saw all that Mountain Dew!! Hopefully I didn’t melt the new ones!! Thank you for the video as well!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
I think you need to calibrate the sticks when you change them. At least I had to.
I will have to look into how to do that!! Thank you!! 🐺🐺😁😁
@wolfmanrepairs No problem ;)
Hey Nick, I recommend trying a different gamepad tester. I recall having the same issue when using the one that you used in this video. The controller might be fine.
Yeah I agree 100%. Also you can connected with Bluetooth with your phone and test it .
I tried a bunch of gamepad testers online and they are all showing the same thing. I haven’t tried the phone. I will have to look into that one!! Thanks!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Great short !
Thank you!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Thanks for another entertaining video
Your welcome!! Glad you enjoyed it!!🐺🐺😁😁
I would try resetting the controller by poking a pin in the hole on the back of the controller, next to the Sony logo. Hold for 5 seconds to reset the controller. Failing that, look into updating the firmware with Sony's updater tool for Windows. Great video, btw!
Thank you!! I tried both of those things. The controller is up to date and I reset it a bunch of times. Still no dice… 🐺🐺😁😁
Oh deuce. I thought for sure that was it. Gotta find that analog circuitry and poke at it a bit. Best of luck!
It might need to be recalibrated? There's a program on Github called DualShock Tools that might help.
you could try to update it may fix it if not check for liquid damage😉
I tried updating it and it’s up to date. I will have to take it apart again and check for liquid damage. Thanks!! 🐺🐺😁😁
I don't have any insight into fixing the controller, but that music while you were soldering the sticks was great. Looking forward to a followup where you're able to fix it.
Thank you!! I wish I could take credit for the music. That’s one of my favorite royalty free tracks!! Hopefully there will be a followup video where I fix this controller!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
I can't find 5v leds anywhere that don't come bundles with a huge heap of wires attached. Where u grab em?
Looking back on it I’m not sure if the LEDs I used were 5v. I got them out of a kit of components. TH-cam is funny about links in comments so I put the link to the kit in the video description. Hope that helps🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
@wolfmanrepairs thanks was stoney bologna didn't see the description. Looks like 3.3 v I think.
Nah that was on me. I didn’t have it in the description until you had posted your comment. 🐺🐺🐺😁😁
Did you take the cpu from that thing? Very still useful!
I still have it. I haven’t looked at it since I made the video on it. I would like to reflow all the chips and give it another try 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
@wolfmanrepairs saw this video where they take the cpu from those and put it on a funny playing replacement dmg board and it looks pretty "sweet". 😆
You're a master with those tweezers. I've tried scraping solder mask once, on a GBC, using a dental pick and it peeled the trace! I was able to repair it with a small wire (thanks to your videos!), but I haven't tried scraping solder mask since 😂
Thank you!! I’ve pulled traces up as well using the tweezers. But I fell like if the trace pulls up just from scratching the solder mask off that it was going to pull up anyway. I’m glad you were able to fix it!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
