Thats a nice find, I was lucky enough to find 2 black PH lanterns last summer, I've been burning different lanterns now that it's getting dark earlier, just gives the yard a good look. Thanks for the video.

Hey Darrell, Don't sell the Powerhouse short. That was the full size lantern that Coleman offered during the late 1980s. It was the big brother to the compact 288A700 two mantle adjustable and the 286A700 single mantle adjustable. After Coleman discontinued the 220K and the 200A these lanterns were made to fill the gap so new campers could have a more compact model that was less expensive to produce and for those who preferred a full sized lantern like dear old Dad's they made the 290A700 Powerhouse. Great lanterns old and new. Each one tells a personal story and tells a little bit of U.S. history. Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.
@@junelipinski2025 your 100% right i bought them new back then and used them i just think the older ones seemed ti have been made out of better materials just an opinion but I do still enjoy them but I never liked the design with the way the vent is all that holds the weight and it dose leave the glass very exposed this one is a runner though
@@darrellbigdaddydcarter9224 Just as a side note. Coleman did make a Powerhouse with a full frame. In 1996 they produced a model 290-700. It was the updated version of the CLX model.
@junelipinski2025 i never saw that one ill have to check it out thanks for the info :)

That's pretty cool! I grew up in Wichita. A former friend of mine owns and lives in the Coleman "mansion". All of the camping equipment when I was in Boy Scouts in the 1960s was from Coleman.
@@krazmokramer awsome
I would have liked to see how to free up that tip cleaner stem in the tip cleaner assembly. Would PB Blaster free it up? I've never worked on a Coleman lantern (NIB 1971 220F). THANKS for the video and your help!!!
@@krazmokramer you shouldn't need to use anything on your new one this one was stuck so I took it out and held it with olives and gently used a tourch ti add heat ti free it up heat in this case I think is better than blaster you can also boil the valve assembly in citric acid and it will free them up sometimes
@@darrellbigdaddydcarter9224 yeah. it's stuck. I didn't want to force it so I came to youtube for ideas. THANKS for your help and your videos!!
This week I purchased a NIB OCT 1971 220F with the clear glass that came through the antique store I work at. It also has the funnel with filter and 2 pak of 21A mantles. No plastic box though. The original cardboard box was opened but the lantern has never been lit. The box and all of the paperwork are included. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to sell it or be the first person to fire it up. Tough decision. I don't know anything about using this lantern. Got any tips or things I should check before using it? THANKS for this video!
@@krazmokramer you know what I would do i would keep it and run it lol only tip is go ahead and oil the pump leather put it under presure to make sure no nuts have worked l9ose over time witch i doubt has happened tie on your mantles and pree burn them and then light it up ...I will say before lighting it the first time make sure you have lots of pressure in it i belive t he first time you run mantels it's best to bring them in under heavy presure so they take better form that's just me great score

Amazing lamp. I just recently found out about these gas lamps, I would love to have one in my office and use it for light. I have found some on ebay but I am afraid of paying a lot for junk. Do you know of a place where I could buy one? I would like to have an authentic one like yours but they are very rare. I wouldn't mind getting a replica but I am having trouble finding any. Any suggestions on how I can get my hands on one I would appreciate. Thank you for sharing your beautiful lamp.

Built to last!
I can never get mine to burn right. Using the originalmsize mantle but its over fueling. Cant figure it out. Im thinking maybe a restriction in airtube, perhaps? I have not blown it out. Might try that tomorrow.
@@dodgeguy480 yes that's the first culprit for overburn after that id be looking at the genarator tip it could be wore out and oversized good luck let me know how it done
@darrellbigdaddydcarter9224 it's a new generator. Tiny, tiny hole. Can't hardly see it with my reading glasses on. It's got to be an air issue.
Ok Darrell, here is what I found. I saw another video that talked about the fuel pickup tube and making sure that it is completely torn apart and cleaned. I found debris in the thin groove on the inner tube that was restricting the air flow from the little holes on the outer tube. Maybe you could do a video on the fuel pickup tubes? Don't replace them, tear them down and clean the hell out of them!
@@dodgeguy480 i will have to find another one and try it I've never had to go that deep i have saw it done thanks for telling me you should have made a video on this journey
