You have created a very good comparison giving a good 🎉 explanation of the arts. I started karate in 1974, and obtained my black belt in 1994 though I did not train continously for 20yrs. In 1995-'96 I started aikido which is a soft martial art like Tai chi and obtained my black belt(1st Dan) in 2003. Later I obtained higher grades and became an instructor. As you said the choice is personal but I feel that training both hard and soft styles gives one an advantage as they compliment each other. And you have to adapt your style to the situation depending on what sort of attack you are facing. 🎉

Alot of this is nonsense as to differences. Tang soo do is extremely similar to shotokan- with a far greater emphasis on kicking. Karate has mobile footwork also. Both have strong stances. I do like the Tang Soo Do emphasis on blocking and striking at thr same time, but this is also in Karate. I have practiced both and I'm 8th dan.
