A new subscriber here from southwestern Ontario. I hope to start hiking the Bruce Trail in sections soon. I subscribe to several long distance hikers on TH-cam. One of them is “ Dixie”. Her channel is Homemade Wanderlust. She and her husband hiked the West Highland Way earlier this year. Thanks for this video. I enjoyed watching your camping travails. I am worn out from a 50 km bike-hike -and paddle to my rough camping site to remove my gear for the season. I heard a squirrel and I heard a loon but I never saw them. The bush is so quiet and beautiful now. It was total joy to be out there. Best wishes to you on your adventures.

It was a delight to finally meet you, sorry we chatted relentlessly and you didn't get any footage! I didn't know you were making a video or else i would have encouraged that! and the bike was a "ghost bike" they do that to represent where a cyclist has died (tragic, I know). It's a memorial. would love to do more trail stuff together in the future!

Great vids! I'm going to go out for a few several day jaunts on the BT in August, so appreciate the details. May I recommend Columbia Omnishade shirts? I have worn them on 1,000's of kms thru-hiking Canadian and international trails, and always worn their shirts, with not one bite getting through the fabric. I also wear a bug net when it gets bad, and sun gloves to protect my hands from pole blisters, sun damage, and bug bites, I only carry a small bottle of bug spray, which I use just on my neck, in case a few somehow get under the net. So great. I love watching you learn! No you don't have to snuggle your stove in the winter. And the best bet for staying warm is a very good sleeping bag and layers. Everything else you did fantastic! Kudos for you for breaking that barrier.

You are a hardy individual; you made the trip seem so easy. I like that you were wearing a balaclava while sleeping, I do that also on cold nights.

Smart!!! the dog was a bit unnerving. I love that area. I've only ever hiked it once. It looks like the perfect way to spend boxing day to me. And I nearly went out for a few days of backpacking myself because of the mild weather but also, incessant rain.... uh, no thanks.

You got the aluminum tape! I couldn't be bothered and realized duct tape melts eventually. I need to remake mine with the proper tape.

So, we were half a day behind one another. I arrived at Terra Cotta the sunday afternoon of Mother's day weekend and where I got picked up after 4 days and I was hiking Northbound, you were going Southbound. we ALMOST crossed paths, I bet it would have been within a couple hours!! I would have been so elated! also, thanks for the info on how to use this overnight rest area. I had no idea you had to "reserve". Good thing I wasn't staying there but I did detour up to see it before going down to the entrance for my pickup. I don't remember seeing this at all last year, I feel like I would have seen it. I assumed it must be new. What a great trip you guys had!

Your comment reminded me that I meant to come back to thos video to leave one myself! I worked the chilly half for years with nuun and ran it a few times myself. It's an awesome race because the time of year. Congrats on meeting your goal and killing it. I enjoyed watching this so much because it's close to home.
