Subbed because of your name 😂
I love the fact that it's a 5-speed. Would love to have one with a manual! I have a Volvo now, but would buy one of these in a heartbeat.
Halogen bulbs are good enough, and have been good enough for decades. People just get it in their head that newer must be better, but it isn't. You are in a cold snowy environment and those original OEM halogen bulbs will keep the ice and snow melted away. LED won't do that, and yes LED are an annoying shade of blue tinted light that also blinds other motorists on the road. They don't reflect right and they glare.
I needed this tbh, I’m 28 years old just got my 2011 Mitsubishi lancer I had since I was 17 totalled, and I told myself that I’d run that car to the ground before getting a new car, fast forward to now, I have friends and people I know who bought new cars while I was still driving the same car since high school, now that my lancer is gone I was debating that it was time to get a new car/newish used, but after watching this video you gave me a new perspective, respect!
I’m happy to hear this video provided some value to you! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I'll drive my 1990 Corolla, 1999 CRV 5 speed AWD, and 2003 Accord 5 speed for the rest of my life. I don't want another car unless it's another old one.
Also saving $2k a month due to being cheap is the most freeing thing you can do
100% Awesome!
I have a set of similar looking LEDs that I bought earlier this year but have yet to getting round to installing them in my ‘97 Protege to try them out. I also want to get new headlamps for my ‘89 F150 and might try LEDs in those, too. Although I have LED driving lamps and ditch lights on that for extra visibility when required, so that may be enough. I am surprised your RAV has glass lenses, my ‘89 F150 has plastic ones and they are past their best now. I miss glass headlamps on cars and trucks. 👍🏻
ITB does nice work!
No doubt! 😎👍
Do you leave it in 4wd all of the time while going through snow roads? Or just when traction becomes an issue? Thanks.
It is full time All wheel drive. There is a button for the centre locking diff which locks the power output to the front and rear for maximum grip in the most challenging scenarios.
No.. hell no😂 make it Hallogen so it won't burn my eyes night time😂. FML when people change it to LEDs like just buy a new cars bro😤. And yes it ruins people's visibility, it's too bright bro On the other hand I love old cars. I want to own a J90 Prado in the near future having own J120 Prado already. Just love the old design
I agree on getting a simple but reliable older vehicle- keep it simple- great idea😊
You may need to aim headlights. I think OEM yellow halogen looks better on your RAV4, they may not be great for visibility though.
Thanks for the input!
Nice, but only one question - where do you get parts?
Local auto parts stores carry stock or order the parts in. 👍
yea in my 04 tacoma the halogens are pretty shtty but when I replaced them with some brighter bulbs that looked like xenons the bulbs would fail within months of putting them in so I went back to oem.
Interesting, I hung onto the old halogens.
Don't do this. Only upgrade the high beams if you must.
Loving your content on the Gen 1 Rav 4... They are such an iconic vehicle. 🇦🇺👍
Just leave it alone.
Hey some of those cheap Amazon ones that are shaped and formed exactly like an OEM bulb are actually pretty good. Although the color temperature and the heat radiating out of the bulb is something to consider on switching out halogens to LED.
I like the cut of your jib. Solid advice here. Good, understated cinematography too.
Very much appreciated!
Love old cars. I have a 86 Ranger that just keeps running. I'll never get rid of it. The feeling of driving in something so raw and simplistic is an experience everyone needs to have.
Way better than halogen I put led everything don’t like it don’t drive at night
Hell no. LEDs don't project light the same in old reflector housings - you just blind everyone. Keep it OG with the halogens.
Figured I’d try them out. I kept the halogens in case they don’t work out. Thanks for watching.
! Had Better Luck and output with the Fahren LED Brand !
Two points as a heads up: 1. Installing any LED in a halogen housing is technically unlawful in Canada. 2. Unless you have also retrofitted the housing, you absolutely are blinding oncoming drivers. Regardless of what the product packaging says. I've got an 05 X-trail that I wanted to swap. Ended up going with modern halogens (night breakers). Great improvement. Good karma.
Thanks for the heads up. They appear to throw the light properly, I haven’t noticed light shining up oncoming cars. -I will be doing some tests on these bulbs to be sure.
If you’re interested in any AUXITO products, you can use this link with code “15%OFF” to get a discount! 🙌 www.auxito.com/fiyoueks
You shouldn't -every single oncoming car
It’s a good general recommendation but there may be exceptions for the right headlights and bulbs.
i tried a few different led bulbs they are all bright and gave a great view especially in snow and ice but on coming drivers had issues with them so i switched back to halogens and used OSRAM Night Breaker bulbs a good set of driving lights helps out quite well, just be sure to aim them right
Good tip! Thanks for sharing.
WHo cares about oncoming folks when they themselves don't care about us Honestly I'm all for Auto High beams
my friend and i did some retrofit 2.5" projectors. LEDs are not recommended for use within a reflector style headlight housing. LEDs will appear "brighter" but throw the light in a horrible way and will blind oncoming traffic. Projectors will have a nice cutoff line while focusing the beam outward instead of scattering the light.
I believe you're talking about bi-xenon Those are the ones with the cut-off
Headlight bulbs CAN be better if you get the right ones. Cheap LEDs from Amazon are usually WAY too bright. Auxito's claim to OEM brightness sounds promising. Where we live in Canada they have Sylvania Zevo LEDs at Canadian Tire that are the same luminance without being too bright to blind oncoming cars.
And this isn't a new problem. With halogens people would use powersports bulbs that were higher wattage, or HID bulbs in halogen housing. Both had the same problem of too much light and glare.
Thanks for the comment!
Check out headlightrevolution They have paired up every light on the planet with all vehicles and found which lights work the best for each vehicle. Alot of time those LEDs aren't reliable or they're just absolute garbage. Definitely alot more brilliant than the old stock RAV lights. 🙌
Thanks for the great comment!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
not a secret that quality led bulbs give much more light, you just have to choose correct power for that which is around 40w each, also the correct geometry bulb is a must if don't want to blind others, so if these 2 parameters are fine then ANY type of reflector headlight can be upgrated with a brighter light and WITHOUT blinding others.
Headlightrevolution did an informative video on this.
😄🙌
Yes! Correct geometry! It depends on how the LEDS are placed and how the replacement emits light. Many modern LED replacement bulbs work fine in old housings. Lots of the older ones were just 👎
any idea how these would work in a pre-face lift MK1 Rav4? (model 1997)
As long as you get the right bulbs they should work just fine, thanks for watching 😄
could you share please a link of these lights?
@ You can use this link: www.auxito.com/fiyoueks The bulbs I used are the 9005 and 9006 combo. Here is a discount code: 15%OFF Cheers!
People complain about halogen but they use the 9$ bulbs with yellow oxyded headlight lense. Maybe you want to conpare with Sylvania Silverstar Ultra. AlsoI LED headlight are hella bouncy and weird looking for everyones rearview mirror.
I removed the old silver stars, going to see how these hold up! So far solid.
I put led in everything 🙏🙏
Cool! Thanks for watching 😎
Short answer imo: no Most halogen housings /reflector housings aren’t necessarily made for LEDs. If you want more visibility I’d consider projectors/ upgrading the actual housings if it’s an option. I did run leds in my Volvo in halogen housings. Decided to go back to halogen. No error message and no one blinking their brights at me telling me I’m blinding them. The halogens are also easier on my own eyes on darker longer drives. I do have yellow leds in my fog lights, but the beam distance isn’t far and they aren’t as bright.
Thanks for the informative comment
I won't lie though I've wanted brighter lights, but then, my normal beams are white, my high beams are yellow. They're nice and cozy and I can still humble even newer cars into turning their high beams off
Good morning! Thank you for this video. I'm so new to auto DIY.. I didn't know you could find LEDs that actually have a housing that mirrors OEM. Where would you recommend purchasing that type from? I have an 07 Matrix, the headlight set-up is very similar, but I'll need to figure out the proper lights. Thank you
These in particular are made by auxito. I have seen them on Amazon or they have a warehouse in the states. Google your make and model and the proper bulb size should come up 🙂

Many people say LEDs blind oncoming traffic. This is simply not true as LEDs only blind when they are not installed properly and are of low quality. From what I can see on video your beam pattern is good - so no blinding. I have quality LEDs on my car as well. When I installed them, I realigned my headlights just to make sure. I've passed inspection twice with them already.
You’re not telling me when brand new vehicles with leds passing you going the other way doesn’t blind you? Think it’s Acura or maybe Audi, their headlights are so uncomfortable, not even looking directly at them and the next few minutes I have a hazy spot in my view looking around that gradually goes away. It’s crazy how stupid leds are now
@dannyrbailey Never have I ever been blinded by a new vehicle with factory LEDs, I also dont get blinded with people with quality aftermarket LEDs. I do get blinded a lot by misaligned halogen headlights though. Maybe me not staring at the oncoming cars helps, I just look at the road.
LEDs are extremely blinding to anyone’s eyes, looking at them head on ask any ophthalmologist or optometrist. They cause you to have several seconds of disorientation with your vision from them being so bright.
@@allisonb9072 Lights are not made for people to stare at, thats why they are aimed down at the road. It doesnt matter if it's halogen hid or led as long as you stare at it, you are gonna get blinded. That and the fact that nobody adjusts their headlights. The problem isnt with LEDs, its with people who dont do basic maintenance on their vehicles.
@@moonsapling bs
I had a '06 Porsche Cayman and it was a great car but the head lights were literally like candles in jam jars...useless. My 2013 LC 150 has much better lights but I'm thinking of trying some LED's in them.
Off topic but I’ve had my ‘98 RAV4 only two weeks now and I had my first scare yesterday. I came out of Walmart, went to start the car and got nothing. I had a guy try to jump me but it wouldn’t even try to turn over. I couldn’t figure it out. Battery, alternator, starter, and spark plugs are all new. Called up a buddy to come out and give me a push and was able to pop the clutch and start it. I got home and did some TH-cam research. Came across a video talking about clutch switch and possible loose connection so I went out to take a look. I noticed something odd so I pushed in the switch, reached up with my other hand, and started the car. The rubber piece that goes on the clutch arm was missing. Still can’t find it anywhere and have no idea if it was even there to begin with when I got car two weeks ago. But that was the issue and now I got a small bolt and nut on it til the replacement rubber piece from Amazon arrives 😂
Solid info man! 👌
Happy you solved the problem so quick! Thanks for sharing. I had a similar issue, when I changed my battery it set off an anti theft system from the previous owner that cut power to the starter 😆 -that took a little while to figure out haha. It was a button by my feet I had to hold down.
I love 90s-00s cars interiors and also exteriors. Their so simple and reliable
No doubt!
I love the RAV4 😊 I have led on mine
Nice! Thanks for watching. 😎
I hate when someone upgrades his headlights to LEDs and blind me on the road...
😮😢
This is why i installed the “Auxito” LEDs that were advertised to provide “The same lighting effect as OEM, preventing blinding oncoming drivers.” Making them a LED replacement fit for most factory headlight housings. So far they look pretty good, but… I will be confirming their advertisement is true!
Usually this is the case if they don't do a proper alignment of the headlights. With older vehicles headlight might be aimed up or down over time due to bumpy roads or minor fender benders. Also it might be like that from the factory with the headlights aimed higher since the halogen bulb light doesn't go as far. So with the switch it can be blinding. LEDs are a life saver on darker roads. There is a reason why nearly every modern car has them installed now.

It's because people don't turn off their brights
Really like your content so far. 90s vehicles will forever have a special place in my heart. Did you also take a look at a 1st gen Honda CRV?
I appreciate that! I owned a 1st gen CRV too, I lifted it and took it on a few adventures
My daily driver is currently a Model y but i am actually thinking of selling it to replace it with an old suv mainly because i am annoyed by the road handling of the y.
Toyota or Lexus has many comfortable and reliable older SUV’s if you can find one in nice shape. Just worse on gas. All the best!
Cool stuff. I like to take some cans of chili when I go camping. That’s all I need 😂
😆👍
What a beautiful car, purposeful long lasting, god blessed - just like the US of America
00 Honda CRV. Rebuilt the head. 98 ram2500, rebuilt the magnum, and the NV4500, had local shop rebuild the Dana 60 rear. Gotta summer toy 00 Silverado that’s a scab 5.3L 2wd. It’s fun an fast but only will run out to 100mph… just sold my 07 Dakota. Which I got too much money into that thing. Bought it as a lemon and just about everything about it was replaced, $12k in repairs over 5yrs of owning it. Just sold it for $4500… 🙁just before selling it I replaced the steering rack and got the front end alignment done, basically sunk another $1200-$1500 into it just before selling it…. See the feller driving it around. It’s eh one of a kind 3rd gen Dakota up here, only thing with cab lights and fancy custom headlights. 0 rust. See I’m not into ripping people off with vehicles. If I can think of driving a piece of shit through someone’s living room I’m sure they could think of doing it too. So I won’t fk around like that with people, in straight honest with what’s wrong with my vehicles. But yah, gotta 86 k20 in storage. When I’m gone hopefully my son will want it. He’s bit brainwashed by his grandparents. At this time if I gave it to him he’ll scrap it out… 😂 😢
2006 Toyota Corolla
i never understood the new car scam. why would you spend an increasing amount of money for something that loses value every day? there are so many vehicles that have proven themselves over the years to choose from.
PHYSICAL dials, scrolls, & knobs FTW! You can install an aftermarket touchscreen in an older car, but you can't install physical controls in a newer car.
