Taiwan offers some incredible, affordable food options-it's one of the things I love most about living here! A few years ago, I did a cost of living comparison between Taiwan and the USA. Feel free to check out my older videos! For me, Taipei is about 36% cheaper, and compared to NYC, it's likely around 45%-50% cheaper. If you were to move to a city outside of Taipei, the cost savings could be over 60%! Best of luck with your plans, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions about Taiwan! 😊

@ I just saw your cost of living video. Do you mind sharing how you came to make the move from Florida to Taipei? Are you retired?

I live in Taiwan part-time, spending quality time with family while enjoying a semi-retired lifestyle.

My plan is to do exactly what you’re doing in about a year’s time. We are deciding between living in Taipei or Hsinchu as we have friends and family in both locations. Is your healthcare covered when you’re back in the US? I need to figure out what healthcare options there are here. As you know it’s ridiculously expensive in the US.

@@muubie I pay for catastrophic health insurance with a high deductible in the U.S. since I’m under 65 and don’t qualify for Medicare. This is mainly for emergencies. For regular healthcare, I rely entirely on Taiwan. I have a Taiwan ARC card (similar to a U.S. green card), so I’m covered under Taiwan’s healthcare plan.
