Edge of Tomorrow is probably one of my favorite movies.

The thing is, for the most stories you can't make the aliens completely alien to us. Because we are humans and only understand human-like gestures and bodylanguage, if aliens are part of the storytelling like in Star Trek, the viewer has to understand them at least a bit. If the aliens were too alien , that would put the viewer in some kind of first contact scenario. And unless that is the supposed story of the movie, like in Arrival for example, that would be absolutely contradict most stories i guess. Take a look on how we all anthropomorphise our pets.

my first thought when you showed the silhouettes was there should be a gloopy amorphous alien like the game Prey's mimic I have made it far enough to know that this is kind of what the video is about I would recommend looking at prey

My favorite alien design in recent memory is the aliens from Arrival.

For some reason, I thought you were referring to the aliens in 2010's Skyline, which in my opinion were rather unique in terms of aliens in media.

they seem to be (i haven't watched the movie but I definitely will now) very similar in style and function to a lot of the aliens in the game Prey and I have always thought those were some of the coolest aliens

In Prey (2017) from Arcane Studios, a typhons have similar design they have a more watery design, they look like they are made of water and in the gravity conditions of the Talos 1 station they had a more tentacle-like structure and still looked like they were flowing

Not to undermine what you’re teaching here, but this could have been a transformers movie and nobody would have ever known the difference, they’re not that unique, at least visually.

As a writer I have to tell this is incorrect. I love your video and break down but I’m afraid it’s all about EXECUTION. HOW they are written into the story will determine if they’d work in another franchise. It would absolutely work in guardians of the galaxy….If characters died horribly violent deaths as a result of these creatures that NEED to be eradicated for (supplemental reasons). Good job on this video though.

didn't they make a sequel to it? Regardless, watch Edge of Tomorrow. I don't even like Cruise but I loved that movie. BTW. the "Normandy 2.0" was done with practical effects. (except for the mimics of course) Yes, even the missiles. And Cruise nearly died in the helicopter crash scene.

Edge of tomorrow/kill die repeat is one of my fave movies. I think the fact that the title changed halfway through its theatrical release is part of why people are confused or forgot about it. Also I haven't seen it in a while but like if both the protagonist and antagonist can reset over and over when they die how does one win? (Unless maybe you capture the resetting enemy and prevent them from dying or something which would've a pretty interesting story

However, I would say they WOULD work well in a Warhammer 40K Movie. In fact, they would have the destruction factor for that kind of movie perfectly. They would make a fantastic new Race in Warhammer. One that would very easily be a wonderful threat to EVERYONE there.
