hello, my name is Julie Graham, I ask for help from the cradle's society of Evanston IL, from the nurses who worked or volunteered in the years 1945-1947 at the cradles, if you have any information please help me, no matter how minimal the information for me is of great importanceI would greatly appreciate any information to all the staff or volunteers of the cradles in those years. For several years I have been looking for my biological family, my father's parentsI have sent several emails to the cradles but it is very difficult for them to give me information and it is not fair to me that the founder of the cradle's Mrs. Florence Walrath did the adoptions behind closed doors, harming the descendants of that adopted child, denying us all rights to the children of those adopted children, with that adoption behind closed doors, they took away my father's right in some future to know his biological parents and Mrs. Florence Walrath denied me the right to know my biological grandmother. Thanks to that adoption behind closed doors, I do not know my biological family because the information remained in the cradle's behind closed doors, mrs. Florence Walrath not only denied my father in the future to know her biological family but also my brothers and I were denied the right to know our biological family, now the cradles cannot give me or help me with the information from my biological grandmother,I am grateful that now adoptions are open doors, with that they put an end to that illogical rule of taking away parents, children, grandchildren from knowing their biological family in the future. I make this call for help to the entire community of Evanston, Prophetstown, Anawan, Atkinson, I think what help me if anyone knew about this storymy father was put up for adoption in 1947 at the cradle's society. My father at the time he was left at the cradle's had the name baby Garrett, shortly after, Dr. Ralph W. Graham, Annawan's dentist, and the artist Mrs. Dorothy Young Graham of Annawan also adopted Baby Garrett in 1947 at the cradle's society in Evanstonwhen the couple adopted my father, they named him Steven Robert Graham and they lived for many years in Geneseo. My father Steven Robert Graham studied HS Geneseo. Please, if anyone knew Messrs. Ralph and Dorothy Graham, they were my adoptive grandparents. My biological grandparents do not have even the slightest information,I only know that when my father was in the cradles society they called him baby Garrett for that reason because of that last name that my father had before being adopted baby Garrett because of that last name, I think my grandmother or biological grandfather had the last name Garrett, the name of my father steven robert Graham,he was born in Cook County on September 6-1947 and put up for adoption as a baby garrett in 1947. Please, if anyone knew or knew of a woman who put a child up for adoption in 1947, please send me a message, any information, no matter how minimal. Whatever it may be, although more than 70 years have passed since that adoption, someone must know somethingif any biological brother or relative of my father sees this post, please turn my heart around and I will be eternally grateful. I just want to meet my biological family, find out if I have uncles, cousins, please help me, thank you all and the children. Please, the adoption was through your organization, help me!!!! thank you, these photos are of my father, Mr. Steven Robert Graham

Until our message is bigger than our fear, we will remain shtum. We can work on growing on our message or shrinking our fear. Both involve time, work, persistence and more. We've been conditioned to toe the line. To fit in. Not stand out.

So, are you saying that consciousness is the solution instead of psychology? I have been working on mindfulness with yoga and meditation for several years and it has helped but not fully. My next step is counseling and adoption support group as I have not addressed adoption issues in my life, other than reunion with my birth parents.

Thank you 😊. That went down a path I hadn’t expected ! I too like the blue Sky metaphor as being who I am and weather /clouds etc superimposed on it as transient feelings etc . Also like visual image of hand / fist / trauma / hiding real self … for me the veil was shame that invisibly / silently enveloped me. Every now and again I spy a slither still clinging to me! Looking forward to connecting in March . 😀

brilliant! I've felt wounded. YES I have. Trauma veils us. It doesn't wound us. Who we truly are is unwoundable.

Thank you for sharing I also struggle with the theory of the primal wound and go back and forth between that and the spiritual teachings of Eckhart Tolle. I too have just recently shared my story but in song.
