You could disconnect the antenna feed closest to the radio and connect into an SWR meter to test.

I started with the volume level mid way and started testing transmit and receive to ensure proper functionality. If the volume is set to high, Vox performance is impacted.

@theoilykrafter thanks, I settled on about %75 last night.

It is possible that an offset or PL Tone is set on one radio and not the other. Use CHIRP and the programming cable to read from the radio and check for those settings.

I felt the topic would be useful for some folks.

I am guessing you are asking if you need to allow supports. I went back and checked my BambuLab slicer for the models that I used in this video and it does not require supports.

@theoilykrafter i needed them for the bracket that holds the derometer it's the file that says more flow. The cube doesn't have walls just braces around the cube

@@theoilykrafter I was able to correct my issue. When I invoke TG 4000 the return audio was going to TG 9. I was able to change the following , DMR gateway--> DMR Network 1 --> SrcRewrite0 --> changed from 2,4000,2,9,1001 to 2,4000,2,4000,1001 --> Apply Changes. It worked after that. Sorry about the delayed response, TH-cam has been having trouble providing notifications about comments that have been posted to our TH-cam channel. I have reported it to them. In Winlink Express in the top menu bar, you will see Open Session and then there is a drop down selection that you can pick. In my case I picked Vara FM Winlink. Once that is selected you can click on Open Session. The screen that is being displayed is under the Settings menu in Vara FM then select Soundcard.

i did not experience this issue with the build that I did.

You could seal the connection with silicone seal, but that would keep you from unplugging the cables unless you remove the silicone.

@@theoilykrafter But, you made so sure that everything else was waterproofed but the obvious one on the OUTSIDE of the case was unprotected. Didn’t make sense.

You can do either. It doesn't affect the functionality. Personally, I like to store the frequencies in memory, that way if something happens and it completely looses power you don't have to re-enter the settings.

I have programmed literally 100s of the Baofeng 888s radios without any problems. Reminder to always read from the radio first into Chirp and save a copy, and then copy and paste the channels into Chirp you wish into what you read from the radio and write it to the radio. Don't forget to save the new program. this will prevent you from having issues with potentially different firmware revisions between radios.

@@theoilykrafter thank. yes, I believe you. until 2022 I was able to copy all the 888s, even with the boafeng program... but after that they always remain with the green LED and open channel and when I read the frequencies they are the same as the original source. Can I send you a video to help you understand the problem with my radios after programming? I thank you

Thank you for watching. You should be able to use Chirp to export your channel programs and then import them into a blank tab in Chirp for your other Baofeng model. I would suggest always starting with reading from your radio. Save that to a file. Then importing the channel program into Chirp then write to the 2nd radio. Don't forget to save the radio program under a different file name.

Here is the answer I tried to post when TH-cam accidentally deleted the comment and support was unable to retrieve it. @theoilykrafter 1 minute ago Thank you. I recommend setting the squelch level to 0 unless you have a lot of noise. If you have a lot of noise try it set to 1 but no higher. The only other radio settings were the frequency. That will be determined by the Winlink gateway that you are attempting to connect to. In my case it was 145.030 simplex with no offset or PL Tone. The volume knob setting on the radio will be determine during your tuning setup. As you saw in the video you have to play with the volume knob settings as it has an effect on the Drive Level, S/Noise, and VU.

Thanks for your feedback. This was a project to see if it would work. I am no way recommending using two handhelds as a critical purpose repeater. This would be for an emegency situation and you didn't have a commerical repeater available.

Thank you. Most of the VHF Winlink nodes in my area use 145.030. That is why I programmed it into my radio. I could have also just used VFO mode since it does not use an offset or a PL Tone.

Thank you for watching our video! I'm not sure why it turned out dark. I'd suggest checking the program color profile with the ink you are using. You should be able to get the color profile for your printer from the company you got your ink from to make sure that they match. I have found that not all the programs support the color profiles needed for sublimation right off the bat, you have to change them.

You are welcome. I had several things I was trying to display at the same time. I like the one with CAT control so I do not have to change any settings on the actual radio. Only unplug the microphone and plug in the Digirig cable.

@@theoilykrafter So does CAT on the 578 only control PTT? Does it change the radio frequency? I am very new at Winlink and my only radio experience is on a 578 and 878.

It does trigger PTT. I will have to test to see if it will change the frequency. I will be starting testing for the AnyTone 878 and Winlink.
