The females carrying on the craft in Pakistan have been doing so since centuries. To them GItag is of no consequence. And so it is with artisans in India. They all have done it since ages. Acknowledging their skills and letting the world know that they exist too is essential. Unless we uplift our people and give them their due share of recognition (and be paid properly for) we can’t expect progress on either sides of the border. It doesn’t end with chikankari only. There are many more crafts and arts that Pakistani women excel at which you’ll find in India also. Your input is appreciated.
