A conversation with Jane Lambert - CEO of The Makewell Clinic
An absolute pleasure to have this conversation with Jane about the Health care Industry with regards to ADHD assessments.
A look what people could look for when navigating the journey into deciding which clinic to go to as well as the N.I.C.E guidelines (for England) and best practices.
It is a journey not to be taken lightly, so the correct information is a powerful tool to help you find your way.
* (As stated in the podcast, this is not a paid or unpaid advert or promotion for The Makewell Clinic. The podcast is about the industry and to help people understand what to look for when researching clinics to go to in England. I have used this clinic for my own diagnosis and chose to ask them to speak on my podcast as I have first hand experience of their assessment process, therefore giving myself confidence in the information given).

Love, love this!!!🤗 Very inspiring. I agree that realising just how resilient we are is crucial & these experiences shape us, if we let them. You guys work really well together. A nice balance! 💕

Aw thank you. Helps being a little like Dory (Finding Nemo😂😂😂) this is really down to earth + positive but not taking away how hard the ADHD path can be. A good balance. Thank you❤

I love this, thank you ❤ Despite still sitting in a diagnosis queue I am still on a similar journey. I relate on so many levels! Makes me feel so much less 'weird' + misunderstood. Meeting fellow ADHDers is really helping me to find understanding- Especially acceptance within myself. Huge ex people pleaser here.... Since stopped (due to illness which uncovered ADHD) lost a LOT of friends + realised how much I ran myself ragged trying to keep these relationships afloat. Spent 5 years licking wounds as most disappeared. As for the ADHD realisation this caused merry hell! People who had bullied me became VERY defensive. I do believe suppressing myself so much (+ huge emotions, traumas + stress) has helped lead to diseases. You are so right Politics/ professionals need to do better. What a journey!😅 Like you guys I am lucky enough to have a partner at home. It helps. Don't think I would have been strong enough to face the ADHD realisation bomb. If I was single I would probably still be in the dark.... My partner encouraged me to explore the whys menopause unleashed. Hoping the thorny illusive path changes for people in the future. These videos shine a light ❤

Generalisations are sweeping the internet around ADHD. You are so right- We need to gather information from many, many sources. Thinking most genuine ADHD folk that I have so far met would do that. It seems to be an ADHD trait? I can imagine some people are having excessive amounts of caffeine- including monster drinks.... Think you make a great point! Doesn't medication such as diazepam affect ADHD folk differently? As in it makes me a sky high kipper instead of calm. Talking to others with ADHD it seems that's normal. I also agree PTSD and other MH conditions mimic ADHD symptoms. For some reason it does seem like a diagnosis people want. I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. A life time of misunderstanding & pain here. Only realising at 50 due to the information! A double edged sword hey! As for sleep- You are so right. Sleep hygiene is also very important. ADHD minds can be bad at following that protocol. I can now see why my phychiatrist felt to need to be an assessment gate keeper

I can so identify with your story. I'm learning more and more how many of my so called "personality traits" and nobody talks about the emotional dysregulaton.

It's such a big learning curve to go through. I found that when I got the diagnosis, it was so much easier to then connect the dots and to start understanding myself better. Yeah and you are right......emotional dysregulation should be talked about a lot more.

Sorry to hear your struggles April. The wait for official diagnosis is very hard. Feeling almost paralysed waiting for diagnosed (50 here) Trying to regain focus in the meantime as looking back ADHD has dominated enough of my life & due to health issues I dont feel that time is on my side (UK here) I relate so much to absolutely everything you describe. I also second that we need more discussion around emotional deregulation. It can be all encompassing. Agree the diagnosis is confirmation for the real struggles & gives us a pathway to access support. ❤ Thankyou for putting all this into words. ❤

As someone stumbling around in the dark feeling lost & lonely- I was figuring out that I indeed have ADHD at 50. Talking to Darren helped me regain focus & fight for my 'label'. I'm not a label girl. Infact I think that often they can prevent growth but I feel it is important to understand ourselves. Plus I need it so I can access medication & help as I have a whole host of comorbidities. We as a Community seem to have turned inwards & blamed ourselves. It is a system failure NOT a personal failure. #latediagnosis
