The Iron Butterfly Channel
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 20 ม.ค. 2021
Welcome to my channel that is dedicated to Iron Butterfly! Here I will cover many songs from their first 3 studio albums, along with any rare & live stuff from the early days of the Heavy up, till the Live album recorded in 1969 and released that following year. Once I master these tracks, I'll then move on to one of my personal favourite albums that I consider to be their last great one, Metamorphosis. Such an amazing album that I feel with that line up, they could have been a big 70s rock band only If Doug weren't so burnt out by that time. So if you like what you see, then consider sharing and subscribing and helping Iron Butterfly get the recognition they deserve.
Thank you for stopping by!!

Vox Continental Demo Original Iron Butterfly Type Of Song
This is something completely different but I wrote this a while back and have been working on it for a few years. I just added an intro and I based the song off of songs like In The Crowds, Soul Experience and Real Freight song structure wise I guess, but, definitely has the Iron Butterfly influence as well as the rhythm and groove. You can find an old TH-cam short on this channel using the old Jaguar but only had the main riff. And yes I hit those keys hard and I know someone is gonna complain but oh well. It's made to be jammed on.
Here's the lyrics to it and again I took inspiration from what Doug Ingle sang about. This is my true Iron Butterfly tribute and my own signature tune. I'm sure Mr Ingle would approve!

Only to find false profits
Which lies within evil upon all us people
Look at what you did to me
So now that you've been in through
The eternal void which creates a mirage
Once you pass through mystic cycles
Life becomes a simulation and you must be mindful
On our Wandering Minds
This our Wandering Minds
(Organ solo)
This is our Wandering Minds
This is our Wandering Minds
Hup!
Also this is tuned to 432hz which is a little higher than what I originally was in but not by a lot but lower than 440hz. Enjoy the melodic tune

I had to relearn this song and it was a lot of fun. I tried to get the tone as close as I could to the original and the video is more like my early days of the covers I did. I took out Doug's organ track and replaced it with mine to give a more authentic sound I guess. I can't do it with all their songs depending on if the organ and drums are in one channel. Anyway I had a lot of fun and took i...

This version is probably the best one since the original two I did and the main riff is now more accurate and to the original song. I could play that section all day if I wanted

Took me three tries as I always messed up the ending because of the timing and is why I said finally out of happiness for the final take. This is my all time favourite album by them and is what helped me form my own sound. Sure does feel great to be back

Here's the original version that I covered and is by far the best sounding one, and I really think is Doug Ingles best vocal performance I've heard. Also for some reason, this one is very middle eastern sounding compared to the Heavy album version. Enjoy the video!

Finally got around to this song with the actual track played in the background. I just went with it in one take and am pretty satisfied with it. The morse code part I just played it as i went without really rehearsing it. I think it's pretty close and also I wish my tremolo was faster and heavier but this will do. Hope ya like the video!

This was another song that needed some work and had to relearn some parts, especially that groove at around 33 seconds on the organ, which happens to be my favourite part of this song actually! I think this is a far more accurate attempt than the original. The organ settings I have are 7, 8, 8, 2, 6, 8. If you are familiar with Vox organs, then you'll understand what these numbers mean. Hope ya...

I've had 2 videos of this, and the intro was not correct and I think it's far more accurate in this one and sounds much better than those previous ones. I also added the bassline to the left hand this time, I never knew Doug played a bassline under that crazy intro until I heard it through headphones. I'll say it made it much harder to play. Anyway hope you like this version and compare the 2 a...

I'm glad you do
This is my absolute favorite album by iron butterfly. Thank you for the cover. Did you ever make a tutorial video for this ?
Thanks dude and that was one of the things that led to my burnout was song requests and making tutorials. It's very hard for me to show and explain so I won't do those anymore I just want to upload the full thing. Been a while since I played this
Dude, you have to do a cover of "Flowers and Beads" on the Vox Continental.
Yeah dude I've been meaning too. I used to not like that song but it's grown on me
Awesome bro! I hope upload this bass cover to my channel someday!!
@@antonio6206 Thanks dude! And this is probably one of my favourites by them. I love how dark and haunting it is. And Lee Dorman was a great bassist and your cover of My Mirage showcases his playing chops
@@theironbutterflychannel9400 I love his bass lines, bro. He's definitely one of my biggest role models. We should put something together someday😎
Hell yeah dude he had a great and tight move. I always loved how Doug Ingle followed his basslines on the left hand of the organ
Very cool ! Are you in a band or have plans to start/join one ?
No I'm interested in that
I love those 60s organ sounds. I have a feeling you've been possessed by the late great Doug Ingle's soul. Just for kicks can you do the intro to When The Music's Over. That would be totally groovy. ✌️
No I'm not possessed by his soul his music just lives on through me. I know he's watching down over me in admiration for learning his work. He was my biggest idol and I'm proud of it which this show cases it here. And I can do the intro but it has to be on my other channel called Vox Jaguar Videos. This is just a special dedication to Iron Butterfly and Doug Ingle
Sounds great. I've always been partial to the Farfisa Compacts, but this is an iconic combo organ sound as well. Like the other combo organ sound, if you get my drift; Most of the other others sound either like a variation on either the Vox or Farfisa sound.
Thanks and I totally agree. I still have my Farfisa but needs to be fixed. And they are great sounds and I think I understand what you mean. Anyway glad you liked the tribute
Sounds great, Bro! Awesome, you're a great musician!
@@antonio6206 Thank you dude! I appreciate it and I just do what I know best when I'm behind the organ. Piano just ain't for me haha
Wow man sounds beautiful! Congratulations
@@HarrisonKillianAnimation Thanks dude yeah I really am loving the Continental a lot
Amazing Bro, the sound is identical to impressive. You have a lot of talent, congratulations!
@@antonio6206 Thanks dude I really appreciate the kind words.
@@theironbutterflychannel9400 Thank you to for sharing this amazing covers, Bro!
@@antonio6206 Anytime man
Doug Ingle is so underrated
I agree and is why he's my idol basically
Your playing is great. I like all Iron Butterfly stuff
Thanks I learned from the man himself
That was excellent man, what a great likeness to the master of keys Doug Ingle. I'm really looking forward to our project Possession
Same here and thanks dude! Was a lot of fun doing this track in particular
Great to see you back my friend. Great cover here.
@@jameslawlor8826 Hey man been a real long time and yeah I'm back and will not go away this time. A long break is what I needed. The Iron Butterfly channel is back ladies and gentlemen!!
Amazing.
Great cover! One of my favourites from this album is “Fields of Sun, and I would certainly be interested if you were to cover that piece (No pressure though, you’ve been firing on all cylinders lately.) Anyways, have a good one!
@@bands_uncovered8347 That is one I'd like to play and I'd like to learn all song from this album. Maybe I'll do something special soon. I'd like to do the entire Fillmore East show as well like my friend Hayden did. Check it out on Walrus Music.
One of my favorite songs from the album and from Iron Butterfly! Great cover
@@nicogil8959 Thanks dude and yes it's a fan favourite for sure
good rehersal!
Thanks and many more to come
I'm in love with this! I always thought it should have gotten into the first album instead of "get out my life, woman". It fits so much better. It's so acidic!
Yeah dude they definitely should have done it but I'll do justice for that tune. Feels great to be back.
Man, you are on fire! :)
@@mchorchos It's all thanks to the new Vox Continental man
Here's the original video on the Farfisa. This new one is better IMO. th-cam.com/video/ZSDNuf9CH34/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nfTQIEZ3EfCUuvA_
Great! This is one of my favorite!
@@timetraveler8777 Same man
Can you make flowers and beads cover on vox continental? 🙏
I used to not like that song but it for some reason has grown on me. I'll most likely learn everything they did.
Amazing man! I love this song, it’s such a shame they didn’t get round to recording this one in the studio
@@walrusmusic7875 I know man playing the left hand part while I do those chords is hard to do
Fucking brilliant man. This is one of my fav iron butterfly songs, such a groovy song. And it sounds awesome on your Continental! I love all the iron butterfly records on top too, adds to the vibe haha
Thanks man I've got quite the Iron Butterfly collection. Almost a true Iron Butterfly tribute. So glad the album didn't fall as I hit the keys hard haha
Groovy
One of my favourites from Iron Butterfly. Great playing!
@@ebind3268 Thanks and same here
Great cover and high quality editing!
@@mchorchos Thank you! It was a lot of fun
Another amazing cover my man! And the organ tone is like perfect to the actual song. Also love the editing of this one, the pictures and different angles you add it are cool as. It’s awesome!
Thanks man as I'm back I figured i had to make something real special ya know and this was so fun playing again. I rehearsed it all day to the point of my fingers being sore haha. And yes I think it sounds dead on just wish I could have done the intro but I needed another pedal to switch on what sounds like tremolo so I had to settle without it
What great song’ you nailed it!
Thanks and yes one of my all time favourites. Next three will be Gloomy Day To Remember, Unconscious Power and In The Time Of Our Lives so stay tuned man
Great playing man! One of my favs to play on keys. Also cool to hear it on your connie
Thanks dude and yes definitely is my favorite too. This might be the most accurate it has been since the originals
Cool :) It's a great song!
Seeing some familiar channel names now that I'm back on here! And it sure is
Could you make a cover of "gloomy day to remember*? Its a cool song that never made it to the studio :(
I have been meaning too as I've got that song. The main riff to that kinda reminds me of Vida or one part does
Yeah I’d love to see a cover of that one. Has a cool riff. Up to you from that show is another awesome one
Yeah dude sounds pretty simple to play
great cover
I remember the video of my mirage on the keystation 49, good video for me it sounded better on the keystation 49
@@nicogil8959 Really?! I'm shocked because I thought it was still not accurate back then but I suppose the way I played it made you like it more. Either way it's cool you remembered that one
Finally the rehearsal of take 2 helped to complete the song
@@nicogil8959 Yes i needed more rehearsal time as this is a challenging song as well
Cool to see you finally got a Connie
Thanks and me too
Am I trippin or am I seeing the wrong album laying on your organ
Nah that definitely the wrong album I just like having it on top idk why probably because it's my favourite album by them
Looks like fun to play. I always got a strong reggae vibe from this song in particular.
I think I know which section you're talking about at around the 30 second Mark. I love that part so much
Yes! It’s a real earworm
Hell yeah it is and IDK how Doug Ingle came up with that but it's my favourite part
where did you get the notes? by the way it sounds cool
All these songs are learned from ear. Not once did I use sheet music
Goosepimples all the way from 1969.
do more covers
Great song! And yeah it’s cool to hear how this inspired your own music
@@walrusmusic7875 Thanks dude and yes this album is the main source of inspiration for a lot of my originals
THE GOAT IS BACK!!!!!! For real dude this was fucking sick and I’m really glad to see this channel back in action. I’m looking forward to new videos!
Thanks man! And yes I'm back and it feels great to play these after a long time.
yeayyy
Great work, this Vox Continental is amazing
I love how Ron Bushy plays the drums. I want to be like him (Rip Ron Bushy). Fun fact: I learned the drum solo from In A Gadda Da Vida on an electronic instrument called Orba.
Same here and his solo is so good on that album. And that's awesome man I bet it's hard to play in time like him
@@theironbutterflychannel9400 it is hard
I'll bet so man
you could have been doug ingle's replacement as keyboardist!
I would have been honored and im sure he's looking down proud of the idolization I have for his playing. May he rest in peace in the garden of eden
@@theironbutterflychannel9400 He was a great keyboard player
Great cover, you ¿could do one of the single To Be Alone and one of Silly Sally? (both of iron butterfly)
Ah To be alone is such a great track from this album I haven't learned those yet but soon I plan to
Why are the white keys black and the black keys white? In other words, why are the colors reversed?
This is how these organs were made like a harpsichord and I personally like this look more than whites with black tops. Just looks cooler I think
