Thank you for this demonstration. I had actually been wondering how the two compared to each other. Now i want the Faber Castell Pitt Graphite Matt. 🤭
Oh thank you! And I'm sure you'll love them - they've definitely become one of my favourite supplies!
Hi Natalie. What pencils do you use here? Love your work!
Thank you! I'm pretty sure this is Persian Orange from Derwent Lightfast 😁
I just found you, and think that I have a similar style, but the comparison… well yours is something to aspire to. I will look forward to following you. Your work is gorgeous!!
Oh thank you! I'm so glad we share a similar creative spark! 🥰 Here's to lots of fabulous art making this year!
What a great exercise. Love your blue Peregrine.
Oh thank you! It's so much fun to get lost in those blues!
Stunning work, wow!
Oh thank you! I so appreciate your kind words!
I love your videos so much - they inspire me to go back to my "roots" since I used to do a lot of detailed wildlife drawings or mixed media art with lots of time and no stress to getting to the point of finished work. Since I am selling work and have exhibitions which I have to bring new stuff, I lost that a little ... there are timelines and certain materials I have to use to make it in time. But that's not what I want to do - and you made me aware. Thank you! Also: your art is wonderful. It shows your passion so well. Just love it.
What a lovely comment to receive - thank you so much for your kind words! It is so hard to balance it all, but I have come to realise we have to make time - even in the margins - to have a creative practice that is just for us as well. I hope you can make that special space of self care for yourself a regular occurrence!
Thank you Natalie for this video. I'm always there for some swatching! Love the way you randomly chose 3 colors and then did the sketch. I can whole heartedly recommend Natalie's Hedgerow Community to anyone interested in wildlife art, learning how to draw, and also learning mindset ideals for your creative mind. Come join us!!
@@sheriemcmanaman2113 thank you so much dear Sherie! I see more of these in our future!
Brilliant work ❤. I would like to try an eye book. Where do you find the reference material for the sketches? No way could I imagine that sort of detail 😮
A Little Book of Eyes is delightful - I hope you make one too! We all need reference when we are creating representative art :) There are a few different sites you can get free to use reference from, I use Pixabay and Unsplash a lot. I hope that helps - enjoy going down the rabbit hole of lots of wonderful reference photos!
@ thanks
Beautiful and so calming. This is exactly why I create. ❤
Oh thank you Cathy! Using our hands to create like this is such a beautiful act of self care, isn't it!
Hi,I just subscribed to your channel, your art is beautiful! I’ve been looking for a really good sketchbook that takes colored pencil mainly and graphite well, I do realism, which one do you recommend for that?
Hi Julia! I think the Stillman & Birn Zeta series is a great all rounder for dry media particularly, and I have been working in them for a few years now (that is the one I did all the Drawn to Wild sketches in, as well as the swan foot and many others for my Hedgerow membership). They take many layers of both graphite and coloured pencil really well, while still being a relatively smooth surface. Give them a try, I think you will love them!
@@NatalieEslickArtist Ok thank you! I recently bought their alpha series one of stilman and birn, because I read it had tooth,so I went with that one,so it can take alot of layers, but I’ll try the zeta next, thank you!
Yayy! Have LOADS of fun!
@ thank you!
@@NatalieEslickArtist thank you!

Oh my goodness, you're so sweet! I love them too, they're like little portals into creative spaces!
Such a lovely piece and like you said what an awesome way to connect with nature. I live in a big city but crave the outdoors and nature and art is the one way i get to connect with these awesome wild things. If i may ask which sketchbook are you using?
Thank you for your kind words! Absolutely, I think that when we are unable to access a wild expanse, stepping into that place through our creativity is so nourishing :) And of course - this is a Moleskine sketchbook in A4 size 🥰
nice❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!

I thoroughly enjoyed this! I feel I connect to birds and dogs. I’ve tried drawing birds and am ok with it, needs more practice though, but I struggle with dogs!😬
Oh thank you so much! Practice is the key - finding those big shapes and then whittling them down into form. You're doing wonderfully! Keep going, we need your art :)
