Wow, a classical piece that begins like the musicians are not in a rush to get it over with. I am happy.
Actaeon turns into a stag after he sees Diana bathing . . . very good !!
WOW increiblemente bello
exquisite and natural
The staging and machinery as well as singing and acting seem to be authentic and impressing. I like this style of baroque musical theatre so much
J.S.Bach a religious man surely believed in the resurrection and what a surprise will be for him when he come back to life to learn that he did became the most celebrated composer of all time.
A great pity that the excellent chorus are always unseen - they're just as much of the production as the soloists and the dancers.
Quiero ser la hechicera en la ópera que me han invitado participar. A trabajar por ello!
the tenor section leaves a lot to be desired...
17:56 ACT II 18:34-19:27 Beldame calls 19:27-20:10 Harm's Our Delight 35:17 Seaside (Come away fellow sailors)
A very funny opera despite the tragic end for Dido, with witches planning to undo the lives of men, a great libretto as well as score. I found it was useful to look up the references to Greek Mythology, Aeneas being the product of a union between Aphrodite, goddess of love, and a mortal Anchises.
💙🌟💙
Historical fiction. Part true. Mostly made up.
That Belinda's a snack.
Не самое лучшее исполнение. Разочарована игрой актрисы(((
Good voices, bad acting.
Siempre vuelvo a mirar esta representación de Dido y Aeneas porque me encanta mucho. Personaje favorito? Las brujas, una genias
This is the best Dido and Aeneas I have ever seen.
Sublime production! Amazing! Bravo! Flawless in execution and truly authentic in all its majesty. I applaud you all! 👏👏👏
A fantastic production, I hope it was a masters programme, a bit of a shame about Aeneas being a rather old rough, whom a young queen is unlikely to fall in love with nor indeed be advised to.

maravilhosa reportagem! grata!
Where can I buy this in full quality? Is it possible to get a hold of a copy Eugene? Preferably a digital copy, but a Bluray/DVD would also work.
the last instrument is amazing
Stunning performances
👏👏👏
I have heard the opera several times, but this is the first time I see it. Great performance, and thanks for sharing!
Maravillosa representación.
An excellent video, thank you!
Breathtaking!
Oxford University was founded in 1096 CE - so Bologna beat the English by 12 years !! LoL

Grande Maestro Tagliavini!!
It's fascinating I noticed that the headdresses of Dido and her maids, and indeed their dresses are absolutely identical to Russian folk costumes...... you can google Kichka, Kokoshnik and other traditional women's Russian folk headdresses
I saw a Barcelona production of 'Dido and Aeneas' last night on TH-cam which I praised, but with unspoken reservations. This University of Oklahoma production, however, exceeds anything I have ever seen in my life. If there is one adjective to describe this production it is "graceful". Beautifully staged, danced, and sung, as well as acted - and also true to the opera - with the pantomime of Diana and Actaeon fitting the sylvan scene like a glove. There were some comic moments, the witch and her bestial minions, with their ingenious costumes and make-up, and the Mercury on strings that funnily reminded me of JIm Carrey! Everything in the opera, from the tragic to the comic, was just the ideal temperature and the right blend, and none of it detracted from the integrity of the story. The staging of Dido's death was pure perfection and moving. Thank you for giving me such profound delight this evening,
This must be C.E.F.Bach
Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach
Bach must have felt some sort of admiration for Fredericks musical style!
Probably not. Bach looked down on the new musical developments after 1740 as kind of decay of the old style, which he was mastering as nobody else, not even Händel.
A wonderful introduction with many fascinating details about this fabulous collection. THANKS
Le titre (long), de cette œuvre rarement enregistrée est : Epithalamio in Lode dell’ Altezza Serenissima Elettorale di Massimiliano Emanuel Duca di Baviera… H.473 (1685)
A reasonable student production of an early baroque opera (1689 probable 1st performance) most of the voices were OK but not baroque specialist voices which causes problems with some of the content. Not an easy opera to perform well as much of it is just recacetive style rather than actual arias and therefore quite tedious to most audiences. A good attempt at an original style staging. In my opinion it needed more 'over the top' effects which would have added the wonder that baroque audiences loved.
This is a rare jewel, thank you.
So beautiful ! thanks for sharing

Thank you very much for this magnificent and very alluring rendition of Purcell's masterwork ! Absolutely the best I have already seen and heard.
This is amazing. I did a production of this opera this past summer and this was The Video that I practiced with every day. It ended up pretty good but nothing can top this
The witch part is so good omg
