How I Make Waterproof Stickers
มุมมอง 354K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Note - comments are disabled since I no longer have a Cricut, and cannot answer any questions regarding this video. Thanks for your understanding! Here's how I make waterproof stickers using my Cricut Explore Air 2! For this method I'll be explaining how I do the Full-Page Cricut hack. This method is great because you can get an entire page of stickers as opposed to just 4 x 6 inches. ⬇️ Writte...
this video is old. now with your experience, do you think is it the best solution for make stickers? sorry for my bad english i'm french
Very nice
Got a chuckle out of this. Cool cool
Great tutorial, Im curious what do you use the Canon ImageClass LPB622 for? Thanks
Oops! I think I added that into my video description by accident. I used it in my other video :) I'll update the description!
Thanks. You saved me tons of research on UV ink and other rabbit holes when my ink started to run on my stickers
This is so cool! And amazing coz we both have the exact same equipments! Thank you.
Love your Tina tattoo!!!
Thank you! I love it too :)
but whats the four squares for if you've already cut the rectangle out of the tape? whats the point of that? i havent found that answer anywhere.
Hi! It's so the cricut can properly register the placement of the page before cutting. The rectangle is so I know where to place my sticker page (otherwise the cuts will be off). Hope this helps!
As others have said the pro 100 does not have pigment inks. I have tested out the pro 300 which has pigment inks and had really great results and they appear to be water resistant from the testing I have done. One thing that's very interesting is cannon has an ink tank printer called the cannon maxify that runs pigment inks. After testing that printer with weatherproof inkjet sticker paper it was very easy to smear the inks with little effort. I'm not too sure if just running pigment inks is the key to waterproof stickers. I think it may also have to do with the quality of the inks and the type of printer. One frustrating thing is the cannon photo printers that run pigment inks are very expensive. I wish the market would expand with pigment ink options as there is definitely a market for it.
Hi Kaytee, sorry I was misinformed by the company who asked me to trial their sticker paper! I made an edit in the video description with the correction.
Are these with the three way paper and avery laminate fade resistant? I've been looking around and the only other option for best waterproofing/uv resistant is the Oracoal clear permanent vinyl
Hi there, I found the three way cut paper to be thinner than the oracle paper, however it it still fade resistant with the Canon pixma pro 100/200 and the avery laminate. Haven't had problems for years but I cannot vouche for different printer models
Just curious what is the point of painters tape over the whole mat?
Hi Moe, I use the painters tape to block off the other sticky section of the mat (that's not in use) also it helps show me where to place my sticker sheet :)
amazing!!!! thank you soo much for sharing!
Why do you use a cold press to laminate instead of a hot press?
Hi Heather, cold press is gentler on the sticker paper, I suppose you can try hot press although it has the potential to ruin the adhesive plus bending the sheet, making it more difficult to place on your mat afterwards.
It’s it just me or do they sound like Bmo? (Not trying to be rude, just trying to compare)
I will try to sound more like BMO in future videos 😂❤️
Can you go into more detail on how you set your mat up to get such great cuts...my marker is always off
Hi Theresa, I know that sometimes when Cricut updates the program my cuts were off sometimes. A re-calibration or two of your cricut machine may help!
Hi definitely informative! Thank you for this! Also what type of printer would be best to use as far as laser printer and a pigment base printer?
Hi Carron, glad you liked the video - I find the Canon pixmas to be very solid for my business (I switched from the pixma pro 100 to the 200 last year). Laser printers, a Brother color laser printer will probably suit your needs and I find they have good quality prints as long as the settings are "high" enough output (600 - 1200 dpi, high resolution). Canon color lasers are good as well!
How long did it take before your blade got dull. Personally I’d just get a new one when it gets dull.
Usually about 6 months, I try to sharpen it often using a ball of tinfoil haha
can u put this kind of waterproof stickers on tumblers? will the sticker stay even after several wash?
Hi Paulene, I have several of my stickers on my waterbottle and they have lasted for around 1 - 2 years without the laminate starting to peel. Hand wash only :)
I heard you mentioned you use them for bumper stickers too... do you spray anything on them to make them uv proof? Or do they not fade??
Hi! Nope, I just add the laminate and make sure the vinyl sticker paper is waterproof (not just "water resistant"). It should last even through a car wash. Though if you car is in direct sun all the time, it will probably fade in about 8 - 12 months.
Please make a car sticker video!!
Hi Brian, had to get a new machine so working on a new video soon :)
Awesome video! This was extremely helpful! Once you add your laminating sheet what cut setting do you use to cut the stickers? I'm assuming you make them all die cut but if not what setting do you use for die cut and kiss cut?
Thanks Ling! For the waterproof stickers, I used the Cardstock setting and I edited the material setting so it would be the maximim material thickness. I believe I also used the "More" pressure setting. Since the laminate + sticker paper is quite thick, if you are finding the sticker not cutting through all the way, try a 2x cut. Also blades wear out pretty often cutting through laminate, so I was sharpening it often by poking it into a little ball of tinfoil. To be honest I never did a lot of kiss cut stickers because I had a lot of issues with them. But I will hopefully be able to make a video for it in the future :)
I hope you still read! I have used Avery label paper, Cricut sticker paper, and online labels paper all with Avery self laminate and my stickers still bleed! I don’t know what to do, I use photo paper setting on my inkjet, is that too much ink? I hear a lot of people use glossy setting but would that be more ink? I need help haha so frustrating!
Please make the bumper sticker tutorial!
Working on it for the near future :)
Hii! I'm hoping you'll still read this :> Do you remember which colour profile you used and which brush you used for shading? The transition from purple to pink looks really good! ♥
Hi Lilithica! I definitely made it in the RGB colour profile, for brushes I believe it was just the standard hard/soft airbrushes on Procreate :)
Great Video. Thank you.
Where do you buy the Avery clear stick paper from?
Amazon Canada (they should have it in the US though too!) :)
Can I use matte clear and plastic dip clear To waterproof my clear sticker paper
I believe you can, although I have not tested the longevity of it, I have seen other people saying that you should be able to :)
God bless you!
I keep rewatching the first part where you're wagging your finger at the Cricut it's so funny and I love your videos!!! Literally the only craft channel that keeps my attention :D
Aw thanks so much, Eliyana! Sorry for the lack of uploads. Trying to work on a new video for you guys soon :)
Where can I find your video for car decals?
Hi Kristy, I haven't made it yet but I'm planning on it :) just been a bit busy the last year!
Hi very cute stickers 💖 Hope you could help me.. After months of research I bought cannon gl010 printer for sticker printing.. But only to find out its not compatible with mac But from Google search can find alternative ways.. but will they work? I'm so confused.. Do you have any idea? Thanks so much in advance
Hi Himashi, sorry I am not familiar with this printer, perhaps you can contact Canon customer service and see if they have a compatible driver.
@@mooneyesart thank you! 😊❤️
Thank you so much! This video is straightforward and helpful for newbies like mee i learned a Lot!!
You're so welcome!
what ICC profile do you use on your printer?
Hi Jacob, I use the default Canon pixma pro 100 ICC profile (it should automatically choose it upon printing from photoshop)
Lovely cats. Great tutorial 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Great tutorial. Very helpful 👍👍 Your instructions are so clear, great work.
With this method, can I put these stickers on Starbucks cups that can be washed? And it will still last?
Hi CM, yes it can! Just make sure to handwash only - the heat from the dishwasher will melt the adhesives :)
You using Krita, right? 😒
Nope - Procreate for the drawing and Photoshop for the sticker layout
Hello. I hope you can answer my question. Is it alright if I'm going to put a self-adhesive laminating sheet and just use a roller? 'cause I don't have the cold press machine yet. and is it okay if I'm going to use a matte sticker paper? Not sure if my printer can do a good work with the glossy ones
Hi Kimberly, sorry for the late reply! Yes you can def use a roller, I used a roller before I switched to a cold laminate machine. I do recommend the cold laminate machine though as you can apply a part of the adhesive onto one side of the sticker page and then peel off the backing as it's going through the cold press laminate. And yes, matte should be fine but the laminate will make it glossy unless you bought a matte laminate :)
So helpful! Thank you for making this video!
You are so welcome!
My cricut never reads the lines to cut them. it gives me an error.
Hi Janet, sometimes this hack doesn't work and it's easier to just use the Cricut print then cut program, even if it wastes a bit of ink and paper :)
I use glossy waterproof paper and Epson L1800 printer with dye ink... And u found prints are not waterproof ... Please guide me it'll be really helpful of you .... Should i change my ink ?
Hi there, sorry I am not familiar with that printer model so I can't be of assistance, it may be the quality of the inks. I'm not quite sure!
Good advice all around, but just so people aren’t getting the wrong info: The Pixma Pro 100 actually uses dye ink. The Pro 10 is the model that uses pigment ink. Your stickers are probably waterproof because the dye inks in the Pro 100 are high quality, but pigment ink has more longevity than dye ink. I have the Pro 10 and so far, my stickers are waterproof, too. The Pro 10 was just replaced by the Pixma Pro 300 if anyone is shopping for a high level pigment printer.
I was given the wrong info by the company who let me test their paper, but yes you are correct on that info. I've never had any issues with the waterproof abilities of the Pro-100 or Pro-200 as long as the vinyl is indeed "waterproof" and it's laminated afterwards - even for bumper stickers on my car. The Pro 10 is expensive compared to the 100 and 200 which is why I recommend the other models - beginning sticker hobbyists will be fine with a mid range laser printer as well. :)
This video was a bit fast, so you have a more comprehensive video? Thanks.
Sorry, I don't and I'm not planning to remake it at the moment!
Registration mark problems? Simple! Ditch the Cricut and get a 'proper' cutter that doesn't use automatic registration. My old Silver Bullet machine has been deadly accurate at Print & Cut for years now using the laser 'red dot' to line up on the reg marks. Never wasted any materials due to bad registration.
The thing about Cricut is, even if their product needs a bit of fiddling, it's the cheapest sticker cutting machine out there. A lot of people are either printing stickers for a side hustle or for fun - so there's no need for an $800+ machine just to cut stickers. However for those making stickers as their main business it does make sense to find a high end cutter.
Hello 🙏🏼 Thank you for explaining everything so professionally. I have a small doubt that Is clear self adhesive laminating sheet and transparent sticker sheet are same? Will they work same for laminate? And If I stick self adhesive laminating sheet on sticker sheet then Do I have to put it on laminating machine? Will it work the same if I only stick Self adhesive sheet n not doing laminating machine process??? Actually I currently don’t have laminating machine, thought of buying 🤯. I’ll be very grateful if you could clear my doubts 🙏🏼. I literally read all the comments but no one asked that question 🥺
Hi there, I believe you are right - the self adhesive laminate is just for laminating the stickers, and the transparent sticker sheet is for printing on (so your stickers will not have a "white" border, rather, a "clear" one). You don't need a laminating machine for this, you can use any plastic card or roller and do it by hand. I find the roller helps and I found a way to peel off the backing while it's going through the roller (less work for me). Sorry for the late reply!
hi good morning thanks for youre video. so that minds there is no sticker r paper with out the laminated paper ?
Hi Dalma, you can use the stickers without the laminate paper, but keep in mind it will scratch easily and not be as waterproof.
Thanks!
Wow
About to get my cricut explore and a tutorial like this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much!
Love them ❤️
Thank you! 🥰
