Fuck snap on Milwaukee is the standard now
I have the Snap-off tech20FR wrench and Strap-on wants to charge me $120 once it quit working to fix a $600 torque wrench. Its out of warranty and I have probably only used it 50 times, always stored it in the case and no batteries in it during storage.

Definetly not for the individual investment. Snap on tools are nice but in todays market they need to be more competative with prices.

This is a really great package but the price points are just absolutely ridiculous. I have plenty of Snap On tools, and they’re wonderful but come on guys, each kit is 3k too high and even at that they would be stupid money.

Mine always came in sheet metal boxes with cut outs. Then they got slung across the flightline if I lost a 9/16 in my pocket.

You can readily find these for $300 on the used market. That’s cheaper than two three drawer packout boxes, which retail for $180 right now. Milwaukee isn’t a great deal either.
I have a Packout stack, large rolling toolbox with telescoping handle with two three-drawer boxes stacked on top. The latches holding the locking bar in front of the drawers broke on both of them, and they are not even used all that heavily. Warranty with Milwaukee isn’t the best (lasts too short) and they are not even two years old, and are already changing colors (hard to find UV light inside a hangar). I already have one of these Snap-on boxes on order, and it should be coming soon. The idea of Milwaukee is excellent, don’t get me wrong. I just wish the quality was there. Craftsman won’t do warranty returns on their stuff unless you have a receipt (I was turned away from my local Lowe’s for that). And Milwaukee was good for the idea of AOG. But even if you just have the rolling box, how will you fit that in the trunk of your car or bed of your truck with the big red handle sticking out? I did aircraft maintenance contract work, and our company, and our client, a major airline, had these boxes. Two can fit inside the trunk of a midsize sedan. And it was never a problem checking those toolboxes as checked luggage when flying to a job. Yeah, they’re $1000 each, box only. But I feel they are well worth it.

I'm a mechanic in the U.S. Army, the only issues I've had with this is that the "reinforced padlock retainer" brake most of the time when a lock is put on and the tool box gets laid, droped too hard and brake off the retainer. i have about 16 of these at work and about 8 of them are broken off.

Eh. I’ll buy when I need. $400 for something I can get a mostly comparable tool for $75 bucks elsewhere…no thanks. Don’t get me wrong, the $400 tool is typically superior, but I don’t make that much! I’m in GA after all.
