Im referring this message to what Benjamin Amoah said about the Guans. It's wrong for you to call the Guans as Nubians. Guans have never lived in Sudan and there's no any history that states they migrated from Chad. Its the Mole-Dagbon who said they migrated from Chad. The year you said theycame to Ghana shows that you're very ignorant. 100 BC, there was no inhabitants in Ghana. The Guans came first but that was in 15th century just almost the same time as the Akans came. The Gonjas always say that they're from Mali. They migrated from Israel to Egypt and then to Mali. From Mali to Kubi Saleh and to present day Ghana. Gonja traditional practices are that of the Torah. Circumcision, mariage rights, taboos of a woman in her menstual period etc. Even their indigenous names like Moshe, Adama, Dinah, Maata, Dani, Jakoba etc are Hebrew names. And you mentioned that the Guan are Priestley people. That should tell you that they're the true Israelites just like the Igbos.

None of the ethnic. Nations in Ghamaare Israelites. The clai has yet to be made by any of the cultural custodians or fatekeepers. Not has it been presented to and in the it presence at any of the annual festivals. We will know once the festival's cease and are replaced by those that are rooted in Torah for laws and spiritual systems.

Well done, I was about to Correct you but you have stated the Truth. Dormaa are not Bono people and will never be. All true Dormaas are as you stated Akwamu people. Some other Dormaas are Denkyiras, the Mansen people. Then we have the Wams, who are the true indigenous people of the territory Dormaa now occupies. Berekums, are an Asante people. They also are not Bono.

I'm his last child and didn't know much about his family even though I know he was from Kwabere Asonomaso. So Mr. Akenteng can help me and my family research about him. He took me to Asonomaso when I was little and don't remember much. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Why do we always want to trace our history to Israel? The Akans were in Egypt. A breakaway tribe from Egypt became Israel. So how do we Akans migrate from a minority tribe Israel? Also, there was nothing like Bono, Ashanti or Fanti. The Akans were yet to be divided as they reached Gold coast. The subdivisions of the Akan group came later. Let's take note.

    • @lordamoako8286

It is rather troubling to hear from a lot of Akan people too. I think it's this weird need for us to justify our existence and history by the Bible...which I find discouraging because we are still tied to the colonialist mindset where we're holding on to Christianity to try and understand ourselves. But our ancestors lived without it and we definitely did not come from Israel.

_Introduktion_ Akans have been in Ghana for the last 3.000 years. On the other hand, the Guans are believed to migrate to Ghana in 1000 AD. Some scholars postulate that the Guans are the original people of Ghana because of their spread across Ghana. Therefore, looking at the dates Akans were in Ghana long before the Guans. There was nothing called Fante or Asante before Akans settled in present day Ghana. I will deepen it: For about 1000 years ago in Ghana, there were not groups like Asante, Fante and so on. They were all just Akans. It was due to migration and disagreements that led to these Akan subgroups. _The divisions_ Before, these divisions, Akans were living in the Bono region of Ghana. Some of the Akans left this forest area to the coast in the south. Then the rest were asked “where are the half of you”? They answered, they left to the coast. In Akan half is called “Mfa”. Therefore, Akans who went to the coastal area are now called “Fantefoↄ in twi”/Mfantefo in Fante. A group of Akans living in and around the todays Ashanti Region were oppressed by other Akan people called the “Denkyira”. These akans organized themselves “because of war” = Asante. Asa means war and “nti/nte” stands for because. So, now we had a newly formed group by name Asante (Ashanti in English). With time, a lot of disagreement/wars occurred among Asantes. Some move Southwards, now known as the Juabens of Koforidua, the Capital of the Eastern Region. The Kwahu in the Eastern Region as well were Asantes who migrated to their present area. Some Asantes moved to Ivory Coast, today known as Boule. Therefore, Akans are also at present in the Ivory Coast. However, some of them were there before the arrival of the Boule. It was the Europeans who divided the Akans between Ghana and Ivory Coast in accordance with the Berlin Conference in 1884. So, today the Akans consist of about 40 groups of whom most people have never heard of. For example, few people have head of the Herman. The largest are Asante, Fante, Akyim, Bono, Akuapim, Kwahu, Assin, Denkyira, Akwamu. The most populous are The Asante, Fante, Akyim, Bono and Akuapim. Other Akans are Ahanta, Ahafo and Adanse (usually regarded as Asantes because of their location in the Ashanti region). Akan subgroups found in both Ghana and the Ivory Coast are Nzema, Sefwi, Wassa and Enyi. Some of these subgroups also have subgroups. The Fante subgroup have subgropus such as Oguaa, Gomoa, Mfanteman. _Census_ Officially, Akans constitute 47.5 % of the Ghana population and 41.1% of the Ivorian. Nevertheless, the true numbers in Ghana are at least 50 %. There is a main reason for the lower count. About 5 million Ghanaians are living abroad. Around 90 % of them are Akans. Some of them have other citizenship. So, when censuses are conducted, most of them are not counted, since they are not in Ghana. Akans are also found in Togo and still speak the same kind of twi as in Ghana. Some Akans are also found in Benin. Guans are not counted as Akans but as a separate tribe. Thus, it is not part of the reason why Akans are the majority of Ghana. You can just check Ghana statistics; table 4.14 and 4.15 in the link below. statsghana.gov.gh/gssmain/fileUpload/pressrelease/2010_PHC_National_Analytical_Report.pdf
