have just aquired a good pair black shoes, with odd polish on. have always been able to get a good shine on my shoes. am going to remove old polish with heatgun. two questions. do i ned to sand the leather? either if i do sand or not do i realy need to wax shoes before starting a fresh? thanks
I need this bull shine
What polishes do I need to do this properly, I currently only use saphir black with the beeswax added but can't get anywhere near this finish! Can you list what I need to get to achieve this?
How many of each for coats? Your polishing rag is wet / damp? Where does this beeswax come in? Before your layering?
Proper job that. Well done. I can’t get such a mirror finish to my boots but the leather doesn’t seem to be as smooth. Is there a remedy for this at all please?
Learned this as a 15 yr old boy soldier 69 now and just bulled my 7 yr old granddaughters Doc Martens boots . Same process as this video .
You should consider to post more of these complete videos
Hi there can I ask a couple of questions I used to be able to do this pretty well but it’s been a long time and I need to parade in November. Is that right? You’re using a black and a brown to get a deeper shine. Is it still black or is it actually black and tan? I’ve done this on a Sam Brown belt but not on shoes would it still be a black pair of shoes but with a deeper shine any help would help please and I’m gonna go onto your shopping and buy some bits as well at the end of the month. I’m just going to buy a new pair of black shoes, but I was a bit nervous because I saw you had brown polish out but it didn’t say in the caption have these shoes beeswax at all? Can I still get a good shine without beeswaxing? I’m a bit dubious about doing that thank you.
When you surface prep the shoes to allow better penetration of the beeswax, what are you using in terms of grit?
Do you do like a service were you do people's shoes?
This is something I wish I could’ve brought into the Army, at 18; but it’s soothing watching a Professional demonstrate how to shine shoes
Having watched this film; I am in awe. The finished product is ace! However, what happens when you put the shoes on and go walkabout? I think that the leather would crack the polish on the upper. All the hours of hard work will have been wasted! I welcome your thoughts/opinion?
@seasoldier3902 not to badly if you use bees wax 👍
Beautiful ❤️ I love this video excellent perfect shining process... every thing is so exciting.. thanks
My dad was on the navy and as a result i was brought up to cherish and value well polished shoes. This video is a genuine old skill that should be valued.
You should talk during the video
With the mirror gloss, are you able to use alternatives- for instance kiwi's parade gloss. Or does that not show as good result?
Brown polish on black shoes?
hes using black polish on brown shoes then finishing off with a brown layer it seems i do a similar method the black makes the shine deeper
@@Cadets_is_life oh that's interesting! Never thought about that
What are the products?
We use saphir pate de luxe and mirror gloss
How long did it take you to polish that shoe?
For a black shoe what combination should I use for tbe bulling process a brown and black or black and dark blue or should I only use black?
Does it work if you have black kiwi shoe polish
Is this only done on the first time when you get the boots or is this done every time or periodically when polishing?
Will you do a guide on beeswaxing boots and/or shoes?
If you get them clean and then hot, like In direct sunlight during summer or carefully with a hairdryer, you just apply beeswax until It stops absorbing It. Like filling a sponge with water or a towel. I guess by the looks of It, he Is more active In the comments on Instagram etc.
@@sigarius1783is that before or after polish
What’s the use of the tin lid?
Has a little water in it 👍
@@kf8575you can see him use it to scrape across the polish at a few points, almost looks like he’s using it to remove a defect or something - that was what I was referring to
Can you show us how you pack out the shoe
What type of cloth are you using?
So in my 38 years of service polishing my Brogues…I have only used Black polish…does mixing in light brown give it more depth?
Definitely yes
@@MrBullandShine my parade brogues (30 years old) are due to be stripped to start from scratch I will add in some light brown…would you also recommend a base of bees wax (first time ever)?
Were these treated with beeswax first?
Yes but you can shine shoes without burning them down first, the shine is just layers of polish, the wax soaks in
I am still unsure when trying it, how thin a thin layer is, because it looks like you are using more than I do. I still experiment with pressure and how damp the cloth should be. My red Dr Martens don't achieve such a shine. The black won't either, but better than the red ones. :/
Martens is polyurethane coated split leather. These in the video are real smooth leather shoes.
Yea how do you stop the cracking?
Beeswax first
No water????
I think he did use some, you just cant see it hes moving so fast
Bit of a bone question, but are these shoes black or brown? It’s quite hard to tel with the light and shine? If they are brown, what mix of polishes would you recommend for a black shoe or boot? Thanks in advance.
Not sure if this is relevant anymore, but the shoes are black. The pate de luxe and medaille d'or polish is black, and the other polish (couldn't see the brand) is brown. Another colour of polish you can use is neutral, which is just clear. I've found that it also helps the shine
Would love to see you doing a time lapse of waxing and bulling a Sam Browne.
Would you post a video/short on how to burn down shoes - pretty much how to to start again with an older pair of parade shoes?
Wouldnt they just crack?
Beeswax
Where do you recommend we get the saphir mirror gloss from? Everywhere i look is financially crippling 😂
And it cracks so easily
How 😂 messed my ammo boots twice now trying to do them just can't seem to get the trick, if only I could beeswax properly 😅
Do you beeswax shoes and if so how many layers should be applied.
You beeswax until no more will be absorbed into the shoe
Can you do an entire shoe with just saphir paté deluxe?
You can yes
@@MrBullandShine ah right thanks
Can you help me? Can you get a very good shine without doing the beeswax first? Just doing it like you have in the layers? I have done it before but they were beeswax. I don’t need it like Wood on a proper parade but I’m doing it as a veteran, so I want them, shiny if you know what I mean thank you anyhow will be good. I’m going to order some stuff from your site and if I can take it if you can please reply if you do see this one dark brown or just brown black so it gives it a deeper shine is that correct, that’s not the same as black and tan is it or is it? Thank you very much for any help
What kind of shoes are they? And what kind of shoes do you recommend?
These are sanders oxfords bud
Is the brown cream also pate de luxe?
Yes in the video there is light brown and dark pate de luxe and brown mirror gloss
@@MrBullandShine thank you! Appreciate your amazing work, Sir!
Have the shoes been beeswaxed?
They have been burnt down prior but not waxed
Okey dokey ta.
how much pressure are you applying?
The key is to feel the leather and where the polish needs building up more and apply more pressure around those areas 👍🏽
@@MrBullandShine ahh so less polish more pressure? technically?
thanks
Your welcome 🤗
Im so glad an actual channel for this sort if stuff is here!
Thank you and hope you find it useful 😁
How do you mix your polish?
Do you remove the shiny layer of leather before beeswaxing? Or do you go straight in from out the box?
yes, u gotta sand it down so the wax can soak in
@@RickyVu12 What grit do you use?
Will be sharing around with some cadet mates. Nice stuff!
It’s really appreciated thank you
Finally a proper channel!
Awesome, can’t wait for some great polishing content on TH-cam now, hopefully some long in-depth tutorials on their way. Keep up the great work and exited to see what you post on this platform now
Thank you, hopefully it works. Still trying to get verified so just Shorts at the moment. Just uploading older ones from Facebook and Instagram in the meantime ✌️
