Hiking In Alaska | Fun Family Time
มุมมอง 38หลายเดือนก่อน
Trying to get back into elevation hikes- with a toddler in toll… Hiking was a weekly favorite activity of mine, and I have missed it dearly. I made a promise to myself and my family that this summer, We Outside! And we are going UP!! Now that my toddler is over 2 years old, and a fast and steady mover, there is no better time than now to expose him to the joy, that is challenging hiking. Bodenb...

@@celestialarmor695 Hi, these are all good questions! I will address them soon- I may possibly just answer them all in a separate video :) I will update you when I do.
@@BraveInAlaska24 thank you i love u lol
I think for Africans who have experience living in the boarding school from elementary, junior highschool, senior highschool and maybe the university, living in a man camp in alaska wont be a problem. The issue might be the cold. This should also apply to ex-convinct. They should not have issues staying in man camp. But to test your strength will be in the job itself. I just stumbled upon your post, clicked to listen. Bless those who embark on such journey.
@@cosmos8632 Thanks for watching! Yes, it helps to have previous boarding like experiences for this work.

Hello nice view and thanks for the short road trip😂.My name is Pauline from Nairobi Kenya, aim intrested to come and work in alaska as a line cook or a job that involves the kitchen.Does the company help intrested workers to get visas to Alaska?Your reply will be of great help to me.Thanks in advance
@@paulineapiyo2491 Hi Pauline! Thanks for watching! Sorry for such a late response. I am not sure what their regulations are these days - but If I find any relevant info for immigrants, I will point it to you. In the mean time, I would suggest that you comb through the Silver Bay website and read about their recruiting info for foreigners…
What months are the seasons? How early should we apply?
@@Mrs.T305 Hi! Good question. Salmon season is June - Sep/Oct and Herring is March-April. I advise applying in May for Salmon or as soon as applications open. This just requires you to keep an eye out on their website… if you are a new applicant.
You can pretty well keep going most of the year you know,at times our boat would go in to Seattle for awhile and some who wanted would stay on the boat & work in a small shore plant the company had also under its ownership. I would usually always go to Hawaii ASAP once we hit the shore. Our capn would stand at the gangway on the dock as we got off saying so long to everyone..Are ya coming back next trip he'd ask? ..I'd say ..next year I'll be back 😅. Well 1 time in Seattle I was hanging round & was sent by a temp agency to Port Chatham smoke house of course I was waiting at 5 a.m. and first person.. then here comes all my homies 🙂🙂 who were working there too & staying on the boat. It was a newly acquired small cannery... that was so kewl because I loved those guys . @@BraveInAlaska24
Crab is in the fall unless it's changed..and then in January to March it's Snow crab season but it's been awhile since I was in the flow of stuff.

Is it possible to get a Seafood job in Alaska from Kenya, Africa?
@@JOEMUCH since you said you will be coming to Alaska, yes it is possible.
@@BraveInAlaska24 Okay. Thank you.
I have made a film. An abstract cowboy comedy ..for ALL Alaskan seafood processors. I want to share among the community. I've been there plenty..How best shall we circulate this movie ? It's definitely an after midnight film.

It's Tuesday, 07/21/24. Would they take me, I have worked for them before?!
@@OfeliaChaidez-dc8nu Good question. I think returning employees usually have an upper hand with hiring, so I would give it a shot. If you have your HR / recruiter info (email/phone), try contacting them directly. Also, check your e-mail (spam) for that info- chances are that they tried contacting you when they started hiring for the season… Good luck!
Does silver bay pay every week or every 2 weeks
@@RickyLandry47 I believe it’s by Weekly - every 2 weeks, unless they have changed it. They must have that info on their website.
Always fun hitting the trails up. Hope all is well
How much would you say you’d make monthly as a new guy in Alaska working for silver bay @BraveinAlaska24
@@dorianthomas4559 Gross weekly income for a newbie, doing 16s (16 hour days for 7 days) is ~$2,420.88. This is based on the hourly rate of $17.15 and Overtime (OT) at $25.73 If it’s a good year for fish, there will be lots of overtime. This is 100+ hours of logged work per week. Do the maths on that and see what that would look like for you. Hope this helps!
Hi ..I've made a time traveling comedy film about Salmon..wanna share it with every Alaskan seafood processor. I D K how though.
mam your little one is so talented keep it up

Thanks for the informative video, QUESTION? can married couples travel and bunk together?
@@WHATTHEYDOIN.NOTHIN No problem! Um, good question. Married couples can definitely travel together, but the bunking part… I am not so sure because bunks have gender specific rooms. And each room can have up to 5 people. Ask the hiring people about your options.
Rico has been going through an ear infection, would love the recipe for the Witch Hazel and Tea Tree oil (ear infection cure)
I gotchu!
Here are some Must Have ( brand) items that I mentioned in the video: 1. Smart Wool socks 2. Xtra Tuf Rubber Boots (non slip sole). 3. Eucerine (thick lotion) 4. Theraflu day and night (cold meds). 5. Witch Hazel and Tea Tree oil (ear infection cure). 🍃 Forgot to mention - Sanitary clothes for the ladies (pads, menstrual cups, tampons, etc)
Detailed video is posted! 🎉
I see they are only hiring local people from the website is that correct?
Local people…? As in Alaska only? No. They are hiring in all of US and some foreign countries.
I went the link you set up then went to Job offerings and it said Craig local only am doing something wrong?
@@tolandknx4219 go to Silverbayseafoods.com Click/ toggle/ hover on - Join Our Team Click- Job Openings Click- production OR choose Kodiak Seafood Processor. It showed 3 options for processing jobs. Yes, I saw the Craig Local option too. It gave me different options when I tried to check the website again, so just play around with their job options area and click things to see what you get. I hope this helps.i
@@BraveInAlaska24 I just got an email from Daegi Shin and she said they are hiring for local Kodiak only for Silver Bay. It's true. Maybe we are doing something wrong idk. I'm stressed. Just lost my job at Northline seafoods. I'm stuck in Anchorage right now. I need employment.

How is the money taxed? Because $17.50 just doesn’t sound too moving
I can understand that- especially in this economy. However, different people have different needs and for some, it’s a well worth experience. In terms of tax, there is no State tax. Federal tax is about 5-6% of taxable income. They also take social security, medicare, and AK SUI/SDI tax Hope this helps!
Do not pay that mosquito no mind 😊

@@BraveInAlaska24 lol. Money, Medical conditions, and mainly I haven't completely committed to the idea yet. Still doing research on it before convincing my husband and kids. Oh and we don't fly, so it will be driving through Canada or to the coast and taking a boat lol.
Mmh I see! Well the drive here would be stunning and depending on where you want to go, you wouldn’t need to get on a boat. I am working on creating some How To videos for people that are interested in coming to Alaska to work, visit or move here.
