New WR by almost 6 minutes! This run was a long time coming. Takes quite a while to grind Marshals to level 99 to skip a few extra seconds at the end of every battle. I only grinded the most used ones (Yugi & Kaiba), but record could go a lot lower if someone wanted to grind out the other 7 marshals to skip all the exp screens. This run was absolutely insane! I've had such terrible luck on the last few fights of the game on my past runs. This featured my first ever Obelisk fight without having a death, my first perfect Dream World, and no deaths that mattered all throughout the run. Fixed all my early game mistakes from last run and got my goal time of sub 2:39. Found a new movement strat for Hollowed Land of Ishtar that saves 10 seconds by capturing the base instead of moving around it. Overall a pretty good run. Thinking about going for Yugi record next.

What an awful start to the run. Lots of mistakes on Framed alongside really bad fight luck early on. Only continued the run to get used to this route and ended up having an insane 2nd half run up to Slifer. Will be doing more runs soon to lower this further. Current goal is sub 2:39.

Currently, 2nd place on the leaderboards (1st if we only count No Konami Code runs). Overall, a pretty decent run. No amazing luck anywhere, and only 2 bad fights that cost about 1 min and 45 seconds. Can easily 2:44:xx with the no money route so I'll probably continue until I get that. @Tenaciousturtl yes I've never met anyone that has even heard of it LOL I have it GameCube and wanted to try a run but feel like I'd have to use an emulator and don't know of one lol

What kind of mods are there for this game. I would love to check those out. While I prefer YGOCMC for the ps2 this was another of my favorite games growing up.

Great run, are you allowed to use any mons or are you only allowed to use the mons from joeys campaign
Only the ones we unlock in Joeys Campaign can be used. It makes routing the category kinda boring 😅
I like how Joey defeats Winged Dragon of Ra and there’s no mention of this to Yugi when they meet up with him in his story haha

So this run actually does use the Konami code. iirc i use it 21 times during the first mission and that’s all the money you really need for the entire run

I never really speed ran the game. I played it casually with several monsters to enjoy the game more. One thing I noticed is monsters that have lower attack tend to gain more attack per level up than monsters that start with higher attack. Monsters that have higher attack also tend to have higher HP. I used to focus on getting monsters with many actions and buying Deal Of The Phantoms when possible so I could get more actions per battle causing less times I would have to fight an opponent again. I do feel that they did dragon's dirty by not really giving them an equip to raise their attack like most other classes got.
I used to play this game for days and days growing up so that’s what brought me to want to speedrun it. Yeah Phantoms are pretty good sometimes. The love for dragons was not in this game lol you’re right about that
