March 8 1992, ABC News coverage of Clinton Whitewater Issue
The New York Times reporter Jeff Gerth reports in today's paper that early in his tenure as Governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton was involved in a failed development deal with his wife Hillary Clinton and the owner of Arkansas Savings and Loan Madison Guaranty, Jim McDougal. On the campaign trail in Texas, Clinton had to answer questions about the deal in the Ozarks to develop vacation property they called WhiteWater Development.
Clinton claims that he entered into the business arrangement when Jim McDougal was not in the savings and loan business. Clinton also claimed that his wife's law firm, the Rose Law Firm, represented a lot of clients who did business with the state of Arkansas, but never interfered in regulatory matters.
Paul Tsongas calls this an error in judgement.

I was born in Slovenia in 1980. I was 11 years old at that time. Dad sent my brother and me to my grandparents' house in the countryside fearing air raids. I remember spending two days living in the basement of the community farm where my grandparents lived. Grandma made tea and we ate rye bread with lard to keep us fed. My brother Dusan went out with his armed friends to protect the region. In the end, there were no serious battles and we all came out okay in the end. It lasted two weeks. Then war ensued in Croatia and Bosnia.

If you think the US has all of these powerful agencies that do this and that on their own budget.........YOU ARE WRONG. The ZIA dictates every thing. JFK tried to stop it but they killed him. The military, everything in this country......all of the other agencies....the ZIA has the dark budget and runs everything. Probably even the parks and recreation. Probably more than anyone's ever seen! It's a giant cycle of ivy league douchers that are out of touch with anything real in the world that goes on and it keeps going and going and going and going...probably more than anyone's ever seen!

It's quite remarkable how fast his fortunes changed. Peter Jennings mentions that a year from this date the 1992 election will be well underway. And Bush's approval was in the toilet by that point. Maybe the most rapid collapse of any president in modern US history: from the highest approval rating ever (at that time) to an approval of just 29% in the summer of 1992. I don't think anyone cold have predicted on March 6, 1991 that Bush would then go on to lose in a landslide election.
