That was some kind of weird short hop! It's rare that I can even hear you on 20m since we're only 200 miles apart (Broken Bow). We worked one other time, and you were just barely above the noise, but this one was a strong short hop. Thanks for the park!

Hey Jim, I see you took refuge on the WARC bands! I was out today and got a thrashing on 10m! 15m was a bit better but I switched over to 30m which was surprisingly quiet. Finished on 20m which ended up being the best band. My POTA buddy James (VE3IJM) has just finished building a 25' random wire vertical. I am excited to build one as well so I can work more bands without have to change antennas. And, I will be able to get on 12 and 17m more often. 73 DE VE3IGS - Lyndon

Helluva run on that QMX. Love mine but it's never strung 116 contacts together at one park ... OK, operator may have something to do with that :) Not sure POTA was a thing when I was stationed at Offutt in the early 80's. Never considered dragging the FT101 out to a park. I like this speed you’ve been using at the start of the videos, it’s 27wpm? For some reason I find easier to copy callsigns on 27 ~ 30 wpm than 20 wpm hehe 73! Btw, always hearing the audio while working 😊

Hi Jim How do u correspond ur times with UTC?

That QSK gets me every time, heard something and paused and turned my W into an A...T. Are you using some kind of lap desk or clipboard? Your paddle doesn't seem to move around much while keying.

I worked the Philippines yesterday afternoon, which is very rare for me on 10 m. Solar maximum is definitely here and I will miss it in a few years

Does you RTC lose time even when it has a charge? I have a KH1 on loan from WKØE. I fully charged it and set the RTC and less than 24 hours later it was off by like 3 minutes. I haven't managed to go pedestrian mobile yet but I was able to hike out around and set up right next to the shoreline at Walnut Creek and Prairie Queen. It's so nice to have an entire station in that tiny little kit. I need to get more familiar with its operation before I attempt a walk around activation. It's on my goals list though. No issues at all getting out on the whip either, I did struggle with the Elecraft paddle. The N6ARA paddle which was also included with the kit is a bit better for me. 72 WØYEM
