Hello, traveller! My name is Pete, and I love stories.
And I read books. And poetry. And other things. And I record the readings. And I upload the readings to this TH-cam channel.
And you can find all the readings neatly organized in playlists.
Aaaaand this was a lot of "and"...
On weekdays, I read short stories or novels. On Sundays, I read poems.
Feel free to say "Hi".
This is a non-commercial "just-for-the-love-of-it-project".
All the texts I read are either in the public domain and found on Wikisource, Project Gutenberg, and alike, or I do have explicit permission from the authors to read them for this project.
While (most of) the *texts* are in the public domain, my readings are not - of course - and mustn't be re-used or re-uploaded in any shape or form without my explicit written permission. Thank you :)

Hello, hello, hello! Thank you so much for a great recommendation!
You are so welcome! And a Triple-hello to you! :)
@@iReadBooks I meant two great recommendations!
Well, it was *one* video with two recommendations, so I think it counts ;)) They are both great, aren't they? That's the great thing about TH-cam, so many different people with different approaches. But one goal: telling stories
@@iReadBooks There are so many great channels out there, and honestly, some of the best ones are the smaller, harder-to-find ones. I’m always on the lookout for horror and sci-fi narrations, but I hadn’t heard of these channels before. So genuinely, thank you for the recommendation!
I am glad! :) And I fully agree. In general (not only in the "story realm of TH-cam) I tend to find larger channels often a bit bland over time. No disrespect towards those, working your way up there is always a matter of effort and consistency. I respect that a lot. It's the smaller ones, thought, you know... those that just do whatever they feel like doing, and also presenting lesser known stuff... it's the mixture that I personally like better. One reason btw. why I really like your channel: stories I've never heard or read before. That's really cool
Over WHERE!? Please show us again ... 😅😁 What a fantastic collaboration, Pete! And thanks for introducing us to yet another exciting channel. Can't wait to dive into the mix of horror and philosophy. 📚☠️
I thought you might be interested in philosophy :) And yes, of course, I'll show you once again. It's just over THERE, where it says "Kallipolisradio" in the description. Simply click the link. You'll get there ;))))
We were really spoiled with that one!! Massive thanks.🎉🎉🎉
Thank *you*, Stephen!
Awesome!! This is one of my HP favorites! Great reading, and I’m pumped you fulfilled the cat quota, that group can really be surly when we don’t follow the rules… 😂
Thank you, Joe. 😂 I am very relieved to finally have fulfilled the quota. It had been weighing on my mind for quite a while. Never mess with cats. We were owned by two. Strict but fair rulers.
Here it feels possible not to lament too badly Lovecraft's exoticization of various other cultures. After all, the creatures and people are all quite happily in aggreement here - nobody likes a malicious neighbourhood cat killer lying in wait at the end of the street. The devout and sun-orb-loving ancient-Egyptian-esque wanderers end up solving the problem of how to deal with malicious neighbour that nobody really wants to stick their neck out to confront and the catharsis is real. Good basic horror formula and fun delivery. Purring cats all arround for this one.
Thank you kindly 🙏🏻 ☺️ This is indeed an unusual story for Lovecraft. One reason is that it actually *does* have a catharsis. And one most people probably can get behind. And I absolutely agree with you regarding Lovecraft’s frequent depiction of other cultures. This story is a notable exception from the sometimes implied, sometimes blatant racist and xenophobic views that found their way into his fictional texts.
Brilliant choice of story and great execution. I really enjoyed this one!
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
Such a simple, yet effective story. Love it! Great reading, man!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks a lot, Kristof!
Great
Thank you :)
Thanks for this. The first hpl's I ever read. Famously 😂😂i read it once on a broken down train - to all the people. Every reading is unique - you did a brilliant job. T.Y.
Thinking of the state of the public transport system here, I should probably prepare a couple of stories to read 😁 thanks a lot, Stephen!
@@iReadBooks lol...actually ALWAYS make sure I have hpl around.
😂😂😂
Rascal, don't post such garbage videos again to keep your TH-cam channel alive. 😢😅😂
Great
Thanks a lot! 😊
Fantastic
Thank you very much 😊
Pretty good job reading the book. How expressive you are, and how clear you are when reading it is amazing. Keep it up!
Thank you very much! 😊 I'm glad, you enjoyed it. I'm currently working on a reading of yet another Jules Verne novel which that I hope to be posting mid November. Currently, I'm posting short story readings but I'll be back reading novels again, soon. Thank you for your appreciative words and for listening. It means a lot! 😊
Just found your channel and have subscribed. One of my great joys in life has been reading. Sadly, now that I am aged, I have difficulty reading, as it triggers migraines, even though I have proper prescription glasses. What a treat to listen to you read. Finding so many reading on TH-cam has been a real blessing. You did a spectacular job reading this; you really kept me hooked.
@kater4052 It's wonderful to hear that my channel helps others. It makes me really happy! Thank you very much for your kind words. I hope, you will enjoy my future readings, too.
Nicely done! Holy cow that book looked SERIOUSLY old, so neat! What was it?! 🙂
Thanks a lot, Joe! 😊 The book... hmmm... well... it's a sort of a tome. I dusted it off a bit, though. 😂 It's in all seriousness a magic book that contains (or can contain) everything we want it to contain. I *might* talk about it and show what's in it in a future video 😁
@@iReadBooks Nice! Do it!! 👍
I will 😉
Fantastic!
Thanks bunches! 😊
Great choice of stories and great narration, absolutely loved it!
Thank you very much! I appreciate it a lot!
First of your videos I've & really enjoyed your intro & humor. Had to chuckle with how you said "kweeebeck" 😂 the French Canadians must be getting their pitchforks ready vs how they like to say "kehbeck" (I'm from NW US, but worked with a F-C from Quebec for a time...). But love that you're not trying to hide your own accent & video is you reading to us--makes this even better! Thank you!!
Okay... hmmm... now I have at least an idea of why my Canadian friends blocked me on WhatsApp. 😂😂😂 Just kidding. 😊 You are absolutely spot on. No, indeed, I don't try to hide my accent anymore. I did try it at the beginning of this channel, and the results were cringeworthy, to say the least. So, at one point, I thought: I won't fool anyone anyway. I'll just be myself and instead try to improve over time instead of "acting". I do try to be correct with my pronunciation, but sometimes a word slips through. 😊 Thank you so much for your feedback. It helps me, and it helps the channel. As for the intro & humor: While I never took myself too seriously and always tried to make the intros at least a bit entertaining, with this video, I tried to test the waters by making the videos a bit more elaborate and adding props without going too "overboard." I am very glad, you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to send a comment. It means a lot!
Very good double feature. Bierce is wonderful.
I love Bierce, too. There will be a "Bierce very special special" soon :) Glad, that you enjoyed it!
Excellent reading, as always. Best wishes from Canada (though not the haunted backwoods of Skeleton Lake!).
As always: Thank you so much for listening and the encouraging words. They mean a lot. Best wishes *to* Canada :)
Love your voice, visual presence, and emotion. Bravo
Thank you very much! Thank you for listening and for taking the time to send a comment. I appreciate it a lot.

Love your story reading. Like your voice ❤
Thank you so much! ☺️ I appreciate it immensely. I am very glad you enjoy the readings.
Thank you. A man raged at me unjustly tonight. He was going to strike me. And then realised it was not 1983 anymore. In his little bitter eyes. I saw the fact dawn. That a woman said recently said of me 'you wouldn't pinch his sandwich!' I held it in. Told him to 'get the fuck up the stairs. You Fascist Bastard!!' He ran away. In the morning I might have to say goodbye. Because of a man who pissed himself before his Christian mother. But who told me the wrong side won the American civil war. But the blood of the eighth Henry flows in my veins. I will make a palace of the street. And. See you all again.
Powerful! And it's goes really deep. May I do a reading of it? Thank you for sharing!
@@iReadBooks yes, I would be honoured. Henry Tudor actually is my 14th(or 15th??) Uncle. Your reading would be far more important than his corruption...and vanity.
@StephenSinclair-d6n it's *my* honor (and as much pleasure)
This was a great one! Tank you.
Thank you so very much! It means a lot
It was MURDER?! :O
It's such a great story, isn't it? I was also like: "What?! 😳"
Great
Thank you 😊 🙏🏻
Love the introduction 😂🎉...except I 😢know a story about that. Anyway thanks for the story. His 'The Listener' is extremely scary and disturbing...
Isn't this exactly why we read (or-even more so-write) these stories? Because of things we know, have heard, or are afraid of? I surely do. I don't know where (or if) I'd be without these stories... Glad you liked it, Stephen! 😊 And thank you for the suggestion. The "Listener" is amazing, indeed. It almost certainly will be the next Blackwood story I read. I almost read it instead of this one, but then decided to read "Skeleton Lake" first.
Should I call the fire brigade!? Or maybe you just take a plunge into Skeleton Lake ... That intro was hilarious! And the reading mesmerizing as always. 🔥😅😵☠️
😂😂😂 I briefly thought about using our little fog machine but didn't dare to, out of fear that it will tick the fire alarm off. Glad, you liked it. 👻☠️😁

Love it. A new poet introduced to me..I don't know his work. A brilliant reading. 😊😊😢😢😊😊
I fell madly in love with Cawein's work as soon as I read the first poem I stumbled upon. I'm sure, you will love it too, Stephen. Glad that you like the reading. And even more glad, I could introduce you to (imho) one of the greatest poets ever
A comment for early in the video, but the 'Wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean?!' had me in stitches for a bit
Recording this story took so much longer than it usually does. I had to cut out so many bits because I burst out laughing or almost laughed. And that even though this was the second recording (I had to bin the first one because of my cold ) ;)))))
Wow great story I like 👍
Thank you very much 😊
