Vacation at Atlantis - Paradise Island // Nassau, Bahamas
Nassau, Bahamas - A quick vacation getaway for our anniversary. Atlantis Resorts, situated in Paradise Island was an amazing resort. We were able to see turtles just by snorkeling beside the beach, what an experience! We stayed at The Reef, and loved the cove beach that is only for The Reef guests. The food options in the resort was pricey, but there are alternative options to save - if you can get a room with a kitchenette, you would be able to cook your own meals. Overall, I would highly recommend for all ages who love the beach!

Park City, Utah - At the Canyons side of the resort, we present to you Snow Dancer! It is a blue rated trail, really catered to beginners and starting intermediates. The trail is really wide making it great for folks to practice their turns without too much congestion. There are only 2 steep parts of the trail, halfway through and right at the end of it. Usually riders don't finish the full tra...

      No problem! It is a short one, less than a mile (0.7mi). It’s the only top-to-bottom green run off a lift on the main face of the mountain. The rest of the green rated trails are over at the beginner hill, or portions of a blue or black trail.

    Had a crash about 6 years ago that resulted in 2 broken ribs, a fractured femur, and a concussion leaving me with double vision for 6-8 weeks. Had I not been wearing a helmet, the damage could have been permanent, or possibly fatal. I kept the dented helmet and will show it to anyone who's interested, saying "that could have been my skull".

    I fell so many times this winter (on midwestern ice) and slammed my helmet because i was trying to learn snowboarding. So much so i got whiplash (from my masseur) in my neck and he told me to lay it off for a few weeks. It would have been me laying there had i not been wearing a helmet. Even a basic one wirhout MIPS. Wear your helmet folks. You only have one head and it does not regenerate (unlike a bone fracture).

    Don't see any reason why you should not wear a helmet and also carry a whistle with you in the event of an emergency. An Avalung and Avalanche transceiver is also good if you are in BackCountry or where Avalanches can happen or you can get stuck in tree wells. There's a good chance any ski patrol in the area will have one active. Don't really need the Avalung or transceiver if you're just doing normal groomed runs like this. On the helmet, you should have one at all times. And if you don't think you look 'cool', get over it. All the pros wear them, so who are you trying to fool with your backwards cap or cool hair style, lol? Always chuckled that skateboarders wouldn't wear helmets because they thought it wasn't cool, when the best skateboarder of all time (Tony Hawk) always wore one with pads (even when he did Jackass stunts).

    Thankfully most of the people I see out East in NC/WV are wearing them now. You're kind of looked at like the odd one out if you don't have a helmet these days, when before people looked at you funny if you were wearing one. I took a pretty nasty fall a month ago and broke my tailbone, hit my head as the second part of the impact, but with the MIPS helmet I was completely fine and it probably saved me from a concussion. Good on you for stopping, I see a lot of people yard sale and everyone just keeps going by them. Always good to check on people, can at least help them collect their skis if they slid far away, and worst case scenario you can assist if they are injured.

    I mean it’s not easy to stay calm, for many reasons. I was a mountain guide for a while, it wasn’t my profession, it was really just in name, I had a guy lacerate his hand all the way across, fully to the bone as well as a laceration on the forearm down to the bone, his helmet was cracked all the way around, slurring his word and such. It was my first incident, calling it in I was probably talking a bit faster than I should have, luckily we got the guy stabilized, they brought a helicopter in and took him out. My heart was definitely pounding though, I had no idea if he had any internal hemorrhaging or what, I just wanted him to make it out without anymore issues. You did a good job though.

  • @ElSings
    @ElSings 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would like to further the argument that helmets are extremely important by giving you an example: There are kids that bike on my street daily (middle school to high school aged kids) who bike at night, wear zero reflective gear, and no helmet or lights. My road is busy. Not super busy, but like 40mph and near a lot of stores that people are coming out of. A few years ago there was a girl literally just coming out of the community entrance, next to the fence, when a drunk driver hit her on the side and she FLEW off her bike. Guess what she was wearing? Dark colored clothes, shorts and a t shirt, no lights, no helmet, no reflectors. You know what else is crazy? She died. She was 27 years old. There is now a shrine in front of the entrance of my neighborhood there for roughly three years now because of it. All because some kid didn’t wear the right gear. You know what else happened recently? Another crash. And it was in an INTERSECTION near me. Like one with a light and 45mph roads. Another kid got slammed into when someone was doing a u turn over there last week. But he survived with minor injuries and only two breaks, one to his wrist and one to his ribs. Guess what he was wearing? A helmet. Yes I’m aware that the visibility clothing like lights and reflectors will not protect you in the event of a crash, but they GREATLY reduce the chances. Prevention is better than treatment. And in this case, the driver was able to swerve because he saw this kid because of the lights. If he’d seen nothing but black, the kid would have been run over full on and still probably would’ve died. But he wore the right stuff. Moral of the story: but a goddamn helmet

    Just did Sunday river Maine last Thursday so icy and fast. I was on 12th day out after a week in aspen and slid thirty yards head first had to bend a pole to stop from going in the woods. My wife’s uncle with fifty years experience did same and went across a busy trail . Our friend ended up with two broken legs rod insertion surgeries still hospitalized. East snowfall and temperature fluctuations are way dangerous this season
