I'm confused how does selling all your stock on the last day of tax year and buying it back the next day help you avoid capital gains tax. No matter what day you sell you still earned money selling your stocks which counts as capital gained and income.

Here's a question: been looking at incorporating SumUp into the business for business start up. They offer invoicing and reconciliation of same using their own account. Alternatively, you can nominate for payments to be made directly into another business account. But without the auto-reconciliation function, obviously. Considering that they take a fee, it could be quite difficult to 'match' and revincile invoices in this way. The question I have is, if you were availing of the SumUp business account (for the purpose of easy invoice matching) and then transferring funds over to your traditional business acc (AIB/ BOI). Do you see any conflicts arising from this practice of holding two business accounts? Would one have to send over per invoice amounts or would weekly/monthly aggregate amounts be allowed?

​ @walterdunphy294 Situation 2 in the video is incorrect. That 40 euro loss can be offset against any other gains. The wash sale rule only applies to share repurchase e.g. buy-sell-rebuy. It does not affect buy-sell. The revenue website is incorrect/misleading regarding: "Shares sold within 4 weeks of acquisition" and needs to be corrected. The Jane example on their website is wrong.

I have a company in Canada and I'm Irish resident and married in Ireland. I wonder could I set a holding company in Ireland and transfer my 50% shares from the Canadian company to this holding?

Hi,Walter can you tell me how much income you can keep in a LTD company from a rental property after the deductions. Do you pay company or the same tax from your normal work. For instance if you pay tax at 40% does that include the profit for the company even if you leave it in the company. Or can you allow that profit to build up in the company. Also the price of the ETP changes in the US premarket (which opens at 9:00 uk time and runs until the US market opens at 14:30). Remember the us premarket is very volatile due to lighter volume and doesn't necessarily reflect what the price will do during the actual US trading day.

It's important to remember that these ETPs can be only be traded during European trading hours so if the underlying US stock falling after 16:30 (UK time) then you will be in trouble. So be careful if you decide to hold them for more than one day.
