    That picture of the KZ at the end doesn't match the bike on the ride? The 4 in 1 header would be much louder ! The KZ on the ride sounded like stock exhaust ! I should know I owned and drove a half dozen KZ/ZI/Z1R 900/1000,s over the years.

    Great thing about the kz900 back in the day , is all you had to do to them is jet the carbs and slap a four to one Kerker header on them , and nothing could touch it !. .I loved mine. Thanks for the upload , it brought back some great memories from a magical era.

    Did you descend toward island lk at the pass you pointed out on your way up (3 min mark)? Looks like you dropped down sooner (6 min mark). If correct, did you traverse a while on that side of the ridge before dropping down or?

    • @drkayak
      @drkayak 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the first pass I pointed out bypasses the summit and is the quickest Smith to Island lake loop. Once on the Mt Price summit area there is a way down just south of the summit.

    • @johnhelmuth9718
      @johnhelmuth9718 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drkayak thanks for the reply! Is that other pass that bypasses the summit a safer way down to twin and island lakes? On Friday, I went to Mt Price from Smith Lake. I went back to Smith, but would like to do the loop next time. (...and longer is ok if less sketchy. lol). Thanks again for your help!

    • @drkayak
      @drkayak 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnhelmuth9718 The pass that bypasses the summit has a little 4th class down climbing. Not too exposed. The way down from the summit is 3rd class and has signs of foot traffic. It is easier if snow free. When I did it in the video there was steep snow to cross which was a little sketchy without proper mountaineering gear. Both lead to the same bowl above twin lakes.. once off the summit ridge it's bast to stay right towards Island Lake. The more direct line towards Twin lakes crosses harder terrain.

    Oh Goodness! I may have been there that day with my friends! 2010 was a year to remember! Wow if this isnt a sign from the Universe-Whew! I was re-posting my daughter Kellys birthday video I taped on Foresthill Bridge and was posting it when I saw yours underneath. And it's almost June 5 again, 9 years later, but was swiftly detoured to yours. I love the Confluence! And I miss it! This mountain girl is in the city, but dont even get me started about that....(can't take the mountain out of the girl) I've been right where you all are many times, the river appears so very calm. I remember but not deep in the middle I remember that year, they were just putting on the bridge extension. & had the crews there with the Amerocan flag waiving-I took a lot pics ... Gotta say this is the COOLEST water video I've seen this side of Jacque Cousteau. 😊 The underwater shots are clear as day, very good quality, it feels somewhat like Im swimmin' w/everyone. Good job. The best part besides the kids' laughter is the beautiful energizing yet tranquil sound of the water! My God this really is a fab video.... well I cant help it and this WAS 9 years ago... But I'm surprised there aren't more Life Vests on you all There's been some tragedys in the Sac river already, several actually. I remember being down there and that dropoff in the middle of the river, would carry folks to the Bay...the river looks great tho. I have to ask: What Camera is taking these awesome videos? ThankYouThankYouThankYouGuys for taking these and posting them It relieved a bit of the homesickness... I have met the best people in Auburn. Time to take a trip up~Thx Again Stay blessed and safe Going to checknout a couple more of your river movies😏✌✨📢📷♊❤🏊🎣

    My dad bought one in 76. I remember him letting me sit on the tank and start it. I was 4. I loved watching the tach go to the redline as he went thru the gears. I bought an immaculate, one owner 1984 VFR1000 in 1991 after a few boring bikes. Newly single, I am going to get one of these early bikes as my high speed Chase days are over.

  • @garydunn3037
    @garydunn3037 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    OK,. Now I understand why you called it your "last ride". I have been to Southern California many years ago, and thought to myself what a wonderful climate to ride a motorcycle. It was late October when we arrived in LA but the weather was still in the mid 80's. A wonderful part of the world, especially when I live in the UK where good biking weather is very much at a premium. I hope you are enjoying your new bike in that wonderful Californian sunshine.

    Just finished a 74 frame/77kz1000 engine/1980 dual disk front end. The nostalgia factor is great, but these old bikes handle like shit, so know what you have before you get too cute on them. Save the hot laps for the modern rockets.

  • @garydunn3037
    @garydunn3037 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why did you call this your "last ride" surely you went on to have many, many more. You certainly seem to be living in a really nice part of the world. It looks to me like somewhere in the USA or Canada.

    • @garydunn3037
      @garydunn3037 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the US most bikes are fitted with high rise bars as standard. Herein the UK, bikes particularly from that era, had much flatter bars.

    Great video posting!! After seeing it, I am taking off my Vetter windjammer, sissybar king/queen seat and reinstalling all my original parts on mine. I bought my KZ900A4 new in 1976 for $2700 and road it very little. Stored it with 3750 miles until 2001...rode it to Sturgus, then stored it again. Now has just under 5000 original miles on it. I have 6 cycles :) :) :)
