Completely over my head! Based on every colorist video I have watched, it seems to me they make this foolishness way more complicated than it has to be. Theoretically, if you white balance and expose correctly, this stuff shouldn't be this complicated. And how does somebody that young, get to be a professional colorist?

Really liked to watch this explained episode. By the way i do like the look blueish given to your productions and would love to follow some teaching lessons about how you would color grading some iphone footages (there are so many differents ways on youtube). Thanks

sory not sure you are right, I tested couple of times and REC709-A looks only right working way to keep all same images on reference monitor and UI and players Quicktime and Browser Safari/Chrome, but when I choose 2.2 or 2.4 all gets diferent, if you able to show some test real pictures why 2.4 or 2.2. is only the right way, thanks! the main thing only Mac system color Sync can read right Color Tag, but other system like windows or other player just not able to see this info like it looks same any gamma

When I apply the DCTL I get nothing. There is no other control below the effect other than the Global Blend and nothing changes in the image.

Thank you for sharing. I tried that out a while ago and personally If you want to go for that colour Separation look then it works. If you don’t then it’s not a neutral starting point. I also think it shifts the colours in a little unnatural way. So I think it’s not ideal as a neutral way

When I upload to instagram my colors don't look the same. I am using rec709 and gamma 2..2. What codec should I be selecting? h.264?

id love to see it with RAW files, it just give me a more vibrant touch in the file with a warmer WB, nothing very special, also keeping in mind that sony color space scks! compared to real RAW footage, can you do it with real RAW footage?

Is this still valid for color sensitive applications?

IMPORTANT NOTE : To download the dctl please click on the link Double click on the folder “Davinci Resolve” And download the DCTL : JP_2499_DRT.dctl If the download file has an extension “.dctl.txt”, remove the .txt in the extension to install it in Resolve

When I see some of the Big Hitters in Colour Grading discuss this version of gamma curve then I will consider it. But at the moment I'm happy with using CST's. If colours are too saturated, it only takes a second or two to make them play nicely in the vectorscope.

I heard Cullen Kelly mention this as well. Thanks for making a video about it so I can learn about it too.

Hmm the jp is awesome but i find annoying when im balancing the image the colors goes crazy because jp is trying to curve the colors towards yellow and the blue to cyan like the kodak film 2383 so personally people should have that in mind but anyways is a good drt overall 👌🏽
