Also, I feel like the kpop industry is so oversaturated nowadays that everything is starting to blur together. The same groups are at the top and have been for a while and nothing is really standing out anymore. A lot of groups aren’t being as original as they used to be from what I've seen. And I think it's due to the fact fans have pushed for mediocracy. Now that BLACKPINK has become the new "kpop girl group standard" it's allowed for others to piggyback on their ideas and the lack of talent disgusted by cute outfits and flashy, low budget music videos. The new standard of Kpop allows mediocre songs, albums, and performances. And with this "as long as it's a hit" mentality it's getting old and boring real fast.

In all honesty, various artists from multiple genres use a system or procedure that can produce good songs that is known to the music industry as a "formula." All artists in some area or another have used these formulas to gain a bigger airplay and/or make a hit. So, I'd have to disagree with that statement. Sure, you can argue that eventually those who depend solely on this specific way to produce music get boring after a while, but you have to acknowledge that it isn't something new to the music industry. For example groups like Fifth Harmony (arguably better than BLACKPINK) have used the same run-down, overused formulas that every musical group uses including BLACKPINK and still have made very popular, and catchy songs out of it. So instead of using "they use formulas," maybe instead we should shed light on how that formula is utilized to be more original and unique to the artists' audience.
