Shame motivates you to get your ass moving and out of your current situation. EBT cards (instead of food stamps) are a prime example. You don't have to feel like everyone's eyeballing you when you use an EBT card. It's not like having to dig out a bundle of food stamps, and tear them off, and hand the cashier the pieces of paper that are too small and the wrong colors to be real money.
