Rusty Dents Garage
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 27 ธ.ค. 2006
Follow me as I work on my old junk and participate in events like Hotrod Power Tour, Drag Week, Cruising the Coast, and more adventures that have been on my bucket list for years. Thanks to Road Kill, Hotrod Garage, Roadkill Garage on the Motortrend app, and Vice Grip Garage, Sleeperdude 88, Dirthead Shed, DD Speed Shop, Thecraig909, Dylan McCool, Chris Birdsong, and many more that keep me entertained on TH-cam.
Started my 71 Mach1 for the first time in 3 months.
Didn't get to start on the wiring harness today. Hope to start next weekend.

You won't believe what I found in this engine.
Just came across this video. First coverage of Townsend Bluegrass festival I've seen since Gingermc2 used to post.
Thanks for posting this. I have them on a cassette somewhere singing this at Pawpaw Hollow Baptist several years ago. I have always loved this song. 🙌🙌
Badass
Looks like fun😂
Looking forward to see the outcome i have a 73 Mach 1 myself and about to go on that same journey. Really eager to see my outcome as well. I'll be watching you
@@charlielucio2173 good luck with it. I'm ready to drive mine, even though it won't be completely finished. Like the old saying goes, don't get it right, just get it running lol
Making good progress
Sounds good
I should have been working on the wiring yesterday, but went to the Bama game in Tuscaloosa yesterday morning, and the RIP Ride in Auburn last night. I needed a break from the every day stuff lol
@Rusty_Dents I feel you I took a day off yesterday and now playing catch up lol
@@Heavy9111 and to top my Sunday morning off, Facebook deactivated my account again. Had to submit another facial recognition for review. Hopefully I'll get it back tomorrow. SMH!
@Rusty_Dents you just can't stay out of trouble can you lol
@@Heavy9111 🤣🤣
How's the wiring comming??
@@neanderthal6717 everything under the hood is done. Getting ready to install the dash today and begin the real head scratching. I'll post a video Saturday evening
Could be anywhere from a 67 to a 72 model since they all had the same "Body Shell". I'd have to guess it's about a 70 myself but the VIN will reveal exactly what it is of course.
Nice looking truck boys
Looks like 72 I had one like it and you should get it!
@@Heavy9111 I bought it. Now I gotta get it home
Good luck buddy..
Thanks. Putting a plan together now
Hang in there man.. just finished repurpising a 71 f600 wire harness into my carb manual swapped f150.. take lots of breaks and lots of notes/diagrams.. u will be happy u did when the harness goes live.. chin up chest out.. Rome wasn't burned in a day😂
I'll have to check your videos out on that. It's not the most difficult thing in the world, but much of the wiring was non existent when I got the car. It's going to be interesting integrating the turn signals and all the aftermarket gauges, tach, and speedo.
@Rusty_Dents somthing brain damage and old age taught me lots of notes... allows u to walk away and come back
At 3:06 it sounds like you ran over a rubber duck while pulling it in. Got a good chuckle out of that. The engine sounds great and the car itself looks good too. That's how the engine always ran before when I had it, fires up like clockwork and the CJ cam gives it a nice sound without it being "Too much" for a sleeper build. I believe once you finally take it out for a spin you'll be very happy with it - Plenty of power (Torque) in it for sure, always ran strong when I had it in my old GT.
@@MrBones-uw8zd that squeak is most likely from the front end being out of alignment. Remember I replaced the strut rod cross member and rods. Gotta get it to the front end shop. I've actually driven it down the road a couple times and the front end feels good
Sounds good
i wonder if you set that car alarm off? ive done that before but i was right next to them.
I had the key in my pocket and set the alarm off getting in or out of the car lol
I want that sign now! Stang sounds great though.
Bought it on Amazon last week
Sounds great!
Jesus would call the cops if he lived next door lolz mustang is beautiful 🐎
Jesus 2024, was, is, & always will be
Keep at it you'll get it done
Nice classic ❤never sell it like i foolishly did with my muscle car 40 years ago to get married 😂😂😂.
You too buddy
Hey I like your videos... I got a 1973 mustang Mach 1 that's going to be bright red it is in process of frame restoration
That's awesome. Mine will need a full floor and cowl replacement sometime down the road. Going to drive it for a year or two first
British electrical system
Are you trying to get rid of something that's on the inside of it? Bugs or hornets?
Red wasps
Is cheach n Chong insise🤟
Not sure of any smoke to stop the rust
Definitely not intended to do that, but it got rid of all the wasps inside
Me and the boys getting obliterated in the abandoned Mustang
As someone else mentioned, Cheech and Chong moment
An actual muscle car im lookin at right here. Muscle cars are heavy with big engines.
Pony car
@@briankissel7661 whatever. Still part of the muscle groupe.
@@monstermagnum56rayquaza Technically a pony car, but truly fit the description of a muscle car. The 71 I'm building has all the characteristics of a muscle car, including 466 cubic inches.
Sure it’s worth some cash but definitely one of the ugliest cars ever made
I bought it for the parts. Everybody has their opinion of what they like or dislike, and it's actually a great looking car. It's also the best early Mustang ever built.
still runs like new
Heck yeah!
Got it out of the shop to do a little decluttering. Figured I'd drive it for once lol
Love seeing those old engines!
Early 460's and 429's are getting hard to find these days
Good stuff buddy! Keep it up!
Much appreciated. Safe travels this coming week.
@@Rusty_Dents yes sir! Can't wait to see them stands in person!
Awesome video man keep up the good work definitely leaving a sub and like !
Thanks much, I appreciate it
@@Rusty_Dents no problem !
Sounds good Rhett! You gonna have it ready for the Yellow Wood 500! Looks like a Brian Blaney to me 12 Menards Bell Racing.
I'll be lucky to drive it before the summer is out lol. Stop by the house when you get over this way. It's been too long, my friend
BEST CAR THEY EVER MADE
I think they are pretty cool
Sounds good!
I think it's going to be ok. I have an old Edelbrock intake for 2V heads I might put on it.
got 2 weeks, let's go to power tour!
I just got in from work and about to get all the parts out of the car and start doing an inventory of what's there.
@Rusty_Dents not sure the wagon is going to make it. Found a bunch of wire harness hacked and missing/chewed up. Continuing to work on it though in hopes
@@DeadPedalMotors do you plan to drive it to Kentucky or trailer it there
@@Rusty_Dents taking my corvette if wagon won't go.
Sounds like a good runner!
Not too bad, so far
this is going to sound weird, but are you possibly from near east central Illinois? my grandfather had a Mach 1 just like that, that color and everything. someone who hated him set it on fire after he sold it and i wonder if it might be the same car...
South Alabama. This car hasn't been burned
@Rusty_Dents knew it might have been a long shot, but I still felt the need to ask. Hope you are able to rebuild it.
❤
Can’t wait to hear it fire up!
Waiting patiently for it to pur!
Im guessing maybe it turns over but doesn't t start up. I'm probably wrong though, dont know much about mechanics even though I'm married to one
Get er done!
Run it!!!
Cool video. Trying not to get discouraged myself. I have to redo most of the flooring in my 72 fastback, and the firewall has rust, but at the same time it's not realistic to strip everything down to bare metal and dip the frame in acid. Shooting for somewhere in the middle. The car is still in one piece after 52 years, that should say something.
It's a rabbit hole if you're not careful. Being mechanically sound is the biggest concern. Since the floor has to be replaced, I'm thinking about bracing it up temporarily.
@@Rusty_Dents I bought my mustang March 5 (two months ago) and I already got sucked down a rabbit hole. My Rustang came with an old Windsor 351, and within 3 weeks I was convinced that I needed to buy a 351 Cleveland and convert the car to manual transmission. So now I have a 351C 4V and a Toploader in storage waiting to be rebuilt to go into the car, and come to find out I may not even be able to use pump gas with it. I had to stop to take a breather
@@germymkord it can happen before you know it lol
To quote David Freiburger. "Dont get it right, just get it running" Safely of course lol If you could just do enough to make it safe, you seem so close to driving it.
I'm going to button up the exhaust and hope the power steering pump pressure hose i ordered fits. That's really all I need to drive it on the highway. At this point, I'm not sure the front end will align with so much flex on the front half. Gotta pull the rear differential to see if it has a spool or the gears welded. That's gotta be replaced no matter what. Appreciate you watching
