This channel is mainly playful dogs, dog training, fun moments, and the joys of dog ownership. I am NOT a dog trainer, so the training videos are more like what 'regular people' experience with training dogs. Including the successes and challenges.
Buddy was my only dog from 2007 - 2016. Those were some depressing years for me, and he was there to ground me.
I got Scout as a 4 month old puppy soon after I retired, and she was raised with an 8 year old Buddy for the first 8 months I had her. She is now a registered Therapy Dog.
After Buddy passed, I got Arnold. Arnold is a fearful dog and shows reactive / aggressive behavior towards other dogs. Scout & I are helping him gain confidence and learn to enjoy life.
And then, there's just some miscellaneous sh.... um, stuff. :)

Happy Dogs FUNgility with Arnold & Scout
Arnold is enrolled in a 'Sports Sampler' class for reactive dogs. But all the other students dropped out, so it was just Arnold. This week, I got permission to bring along Scout. Wow, what a different it made in Arnold. They had so much fun!

I thought this was interesting, especially with the sound removed so I could focus on Arnold's body language. He's obviously out of his comfort zone, but put on a brave face and I think he ended up having fun.

Yep, another slow motion running video. This time Scout got a head start since Arnold is faster. And 'super slow motion' 960 fps really shows off their form.

I'm having too much fun watching Scout & Arnold run, so here's another video of them. It's also great training for "sit / wait" because the reward is so much fun for them.

I can't get enough of this. These two can definitely run, and love doing it.

We went out to make our yearly 'Running Through the Tall Grass' video today, but it's been so dry the grass wasn't very tall. Got some fun footage of Scout chasing after some sort of critter though.

We haven't done this in a long time. So, it was fun to get this out and see how well Arnold did. There are previous videos from several years ago where Arnold was a bit afraid of this setup. This time Scout, for some reason, was reluctant to eat her breakfast kibble in the ball pit. Not fear of the pit, but maybe in deference to Arnold. :)
Running Through the Tall Grass (again)

I love to do this at least once a year. The grass isn't fully grown yet, but I just had to drop Scout & Arnold's leashes and let them run around. The joy they are having is so fun.
Confidence Building w Arnold - Agility at Bike Park

This was obviously impromptu. We had been at this 'bike park' a few times before, and Scout always loved the raised dog walk platforms when she did a bit of training in agility. But Arnold had refused to get up on this equipment until today. I was lucky enough to capture it. Good boy Arnold!

Arnold was straining to go after this bird, and I figured 'what the heck.' He does like to run and doesn't get a lot of opportunities to do so. Plus look at that recall at the end. Good boy Arnold.
Dog Boots Needed

Arnold & Scout haven't needed to wear dog boots for a couple of years. But the -9°F (-23°C) temps today made them a requirement. Here is their reaction to having to wear them.

I was impressed how quickly Scout & Arnold took to this new mattress. Well, it IS really comfy. It was a bit heavier than I expected, but that's a good thing. And it 'inflated' so quickly....

When I take my dogs for a walk, I rarely have a destination in mind and let them lead me wherever they want to go. Today Arnold decided he wanted to run through the tall grass, again, but this time by himself.

Arnold has been particularly happy lately, even joyous. I'm starting to get better handling TWO long lines at once, and when nobody is around, will just drop them and let the dog run (shhhh, don't tell anybody). This was a fun morning.

💔💔💔💔💔💔Heartbreaking
Anyone who has lost a beloved pet knows the hurt and pain. Its so hard to know you wont see them again. I lost ny JJ in February 2024 to heart problems, he was 13yrs 2months. I thought we would have longer, but no. I still cannot fetch myself to get rid of his bed, bowls and toys. I would give anything to have him back. They leave a giant space in your life. Gone but never forgotten❤

I am so, so, so very sad and sorry for your loss of your best friend, Buddy. I haven't cried this hard in a very long time. I am camping right now, alone with my best friend, my girl, my angel, my Heidi. She is 11, a white shepherd dog. Life expectancy is 12-13. I love her more than life itself, and I'm intentionally spending as much quality time with her as often and as much as I possibly can. Everyday with her is a blessing, and those days are numbered. How can I live without her? I have no idea. I love her so very much - more than words can say. Thank you for this video. God bless you my dear friend.
It doesn’t seem to matter how long a dog lives, it’s never long enough. They give so much and ask for so little. I’m so sorry for your loss of Buddy but you will see him again. God bless.
Buddy was a beautiful baby.
Buddy reminds me of my dog "Larry Moe" who was dropped off the side of a country road and abandoned and they left raw chicken. This happened in 2003. Along with him was his brother, or at least I thought was his brother, "Curly Joe" who were about 5 months old. Both lived 15 years and were the best dogs and loved each other so much.Always appreciative. When Curly died it wasn't long till Larry died-about a week after. I feel like their together now at Rainbow Bridge. Looks like you had a great dog "Buddy" and I know you miss him.

So ,sorry,i know what a lost,and feeling this is.I lost my sweetheart Fidji.she was my everything for then jears,suddenlyshe wasent eathing anymore,here liver and kidneys where done...I am not the same anymore ..
What a beautiful amazing boy you were BUDDY godbless you boy .Im sitting here watching my 12 year old collie dog star she struggling with her joints ive lost already 3 fur babies to that awful illness cancer and every day is a blessing we have left with my old girl i just sobbed my heart out watching these 2 amazing dogs playing together scout loved him soo much and your dad buddy bless him how much he loved you R.I.P BUDDY we all love you .
It's very sad to lose someone important and close. He had a good life, he had a home and family.
I'm feeling your pain...... our girl is 13 going 14 .....we are making her comfortable but we are not extending her life..... when she decides to go.... it's on her free will...... It will destroy me when she passes......May she rest in peace when it happens.😊
There is a great book that I’ve revisited each time I have lost one of my 4-legged friends: Goodbye, Friend: Healing Wisdom for Anyone Who Has Ever Lost a Pet, by Rev. Gary Kowalski… when I revisit it, it doesn’t diminish or alter my grieving, but rather, it reminds me to think back to all the experiences we had together and to be thankful and cherish that we had them to share…
That was exactly my purpose in making this video - to think back and cherish the times we had together. It helped me tell myself he had a pretty good life.

that is so beautiful I lost my cattle dog cross called Jessie from an aggressive bone cancer nearly 3 years ago and she saved me when I had a workplace accident and she never left my side and miss her so much.
I lost three dogs over the years it always hurts when we lose our best friends sorry for your loss

Thank you so much for being such a good "Dad" for Buddy and for sharing your wonderful tribute with the world. He seems such a great dog. Hi David. You're right and I haven't posted for a while. Now that they are both 9 years old, they have settled in nicely into my home, so not much specific training left to do. But when I do put their breakfast kibble into a bowl and walk to the living room, they both remember and go running to lie down on the their mats. I'm using my husband's TH-cam page (hence David being the name) but I wanted to say your Buddy tribute was heart-wrenchingly moving. We adopted 3 senior dogs in 2015; they all died in our home during the Covid years. Your tribute brought back memories and tears!
