THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN OFTEN...
มุมมอง 5622 ปีที่แล้ว
As most of the UK was given an early Christmas present this week with the arrival of some snow fall, I thought I would make the most of the fresh power and get out on the bike. Having never properly ridden in snow I had no idea just how much fun it would turn out to be especially as there would be very few people out and about which made for the most peaceful and calm atmosphere.

My air shock on my ‘21 Kenevo is finished. How hard do you really have to be riding to snap a coil shock piston rod? I’m not getting big air anymore, but want long lasting comfort.
I have no idea. Unfortunately it seems the frame design of the Kenevo isn't kind on shocks so regardless of the type/brand i'd want to keep a spare just to be sure.
Just come across you video looking good so far just wanted to ask how is the power pack going and was your reasons for not doing a fixed power system or solar etc etc
Thanks mate. So far so good. Just done two 2 day trips within a week using the Bluetti for Max fan, lights, charging phones and camera's etc. Used 14% charge in total. I think at some point solar would be nice but I am currently yet to try topping up from the 12v socket on the van so will see how that works out. The main reason for choosing this option was simplicity.
I love Swinley. Used to ride there 3-4 times per week when I was working that way, haven't been for years now.
It has changed a lot over the last few years. New trails and improvements which is great to see. I need to visit again soon!
I am a big hardtail fan plus i am looking for a fantastic as well as a nice looking bike, plus i started getting into mountain biking in 2016: i have been hooked on this wonderful sport for a long time.
Where did you get the cabin separator?
Trekk Vans 👍
Love it...Staying on the bike and not dying. LOL priceless. Well done!
Hi, where did you buy the curtain thing between cab and back?
Hi it is the quilted cab screen from Trekk Vans 👍
Red 1-6 on top
💀
You should have bought the Druid.
Yes would have been better suited to the type of riding I do. The new druid looks really good!
Nice I just bought a mwb crafter, subscribed looking forward to the journey 👌
Thanks and good luck with your Crafter conversion! 😁
Hello! Is your helmet small or medium? What is the measurement of your head?
Top man, cheers 👍
at 12:55 on the left there is a hole and I didn't see it and I went straight into and did some backflips😂😂😂
Hello! Is your helmet small or medium?
What trails are you doing?
Red 1-6 I think
Nice vid bud can i ask how tall you are because am thinking of getting the scout am 5'6 and not sure about the small or medium. The only bike shop near me that stocks Nukeproof hasn't any in stock for me to try.
Thanks, I'm 5'11. I would think the medium would work best for you
@@4KMTBRider Thanks for your help
A lot of the “drag noise” simply comes from the strain on the idler pulley from that 90° angle. Also if it gets dirty at all, it will exacerbate that noise. Keep it clean and it will be fairly quiet. I also removed the lower pulley and added the Cascade Components Guid/bashguard. Less teeth contact, but it hasn’t been an issue and is much quieter.
Thanks for the info, the pulley was much better if you kept it clean as you said and greased often. I never really had many issues with it to be fair but I do like a quiet bike and the idler pulley/guide is another complication. There's no doubt about how capable the high pivot bikes are though!
Very good video and the best content🥰
What year is your bike?? Thanks.
I think it is the 2022 model year
Mullet all day ! I’ve rode both . If you like going fast, hitting jumps and steeps, mullet is the way
I'm set on the mullet bikes now, it's the best of both for sure!
How is sizing of scout? I’am 6ft4 wonder xxl would be ok for me
I think the sizing chart is pretty accurate. I have a Large and I'm 5ft11 which puts me in the middle. I wouldn't want to go any larger, in fact i'd like to shorten the reach at some point by getting a shorter stem. I would think maybe an XL would work for you?
@@4KMTBRider cheers buddy, no XL at chainreactions at the moment
@@lubo9094 might be worth trying the XXL then seeing as you are in between sizes and if the price is right. Worst case you could always swap the frame for an XL later down the line perhaps if it ends up being too big 👍
@@4KMTBRider just ordered scout comp alloy. Price is down to £599 today for xxl. It was £899 for last few weeks . Absolute steal
@@lubo9094 that is an incredible price! Enjoy it mate 😁
After busy lizzie that wasnt mayhem 😂
Fair enough, I'm too tight to pay for Trailforks so had to make do with the free app version which is hard to navigate 🤣
@@4KMTBRider i still get mixed up and i live 15 mins away 😁😁..nice riding pal as its steeper in real life
@@kevinhart1667 Nice trails to have as your local 👌 and thanks, Welsh trails are no joke!
love ur videos i was looking to buy a hardtail i waned to buy the same bike as you, but then i decited to buy an canyon stoic 3
Thanks mate! The Canyon Stoic looks like a good bike, hope you are enjoying it 👍
What size is your scout as I’m 5ft8 what size frame would I need? Great vid by the way
cool video!
Yeah, it is very logical that the position of the rear suspension linkages will make the spray from the rear tire go straight into them. I guess that small rear fender does not help a lot in that regards?
Yep the larger fender helps, which is why Forbidden offered them as a free upgrade but tbh I never had any issues which effected the suspension operation. Perhaps over time the bearings may have worn out faster but who knows..
@@4KMTBRider thanks man! Your review was probably the best out there for this bike. It is even more valuable because it is not by pro-biker or reviewer. I was very interested with this bike. However it looks like in size M chainstays are rather short and this will probably break the deal. All the best, ride well!
Just bought one of these. £700. Fricken bargain!!l building it at the weekend. Good vid mate.
Awesome mate hope you enjoy it, it's a more capable bike than I expected straight out of the box and a bargain! 😁
Very informative thank you. Just bought this in the 29, heavily discounted from Chain Reaction. Your comment about easier rolling tyres resonated - I plan to put as smooth (as is reasonably possible) tyres on mine and use it for spring-to-autumn urban and dry trail rides and keep the full sus bike for winter and higher stress stuff. Seems like an ideal bike for that intended purpose. Cool that you were riding in Rushmore, I grew up in Leighton Buzzard. Epsom now so riding the Surrey hills. Thanks again, have fun 👍
Thanks for commenting and I hope you enjoy the new bike! I plan to switch out the tyres next year after the winter now. I can honestly say that I love riding this bike and I'm sure you will too. There are some great trails in the Surrey hills, lovely place to live and ride! 😁
Hi mate, I just bought this bike. Could u help me with the correct size dropper post I need? Mines a M frame. I see a sale on CRC for Ascend X ones, cheers
Hello! The Nukeproof scout full bike builds come with a 150mm dropper post for size medium and 170mm for size large. I have a size large and put a 150mm dropper in, which works well for my height 5'11 and 33" inside leg. The seat post diameter you need is 31.6. 👍
Did you wrap each cable individually, or did you group the rear brake/derailleur cables in the same loom?
Yes wrapped individually 👍
Looking good, the sound deadening you put on first works great, it really lowers the vibration noise. Also makes your sound system sound better as the panels don’t vibrate. I covered 100% of the interior of my Renault 5 GT Turbo with it and it made it feel much less like a tin can and more like a solid car.
Yeah i bet it makes quite a bit of difference for a sound system. I'm hoping I've covered enough area but I guess i'll never really know haha
In combination with the coverage you have with the foil backed foam it should be pretty good.
Are you still using the air shock now? I just got a kenevo and it came with a fox DHX2 coil that instantly blew, either that or it just has stupidly light compression damping! LOL. I switched it for a Rockshox super deluxe ultimate coil and it feels fantastic. I don't find I'm bottoming out hard all that much either, I run a 500lb spring (i'm 84kg) and I do use all the travel up frequently but certainly not clapping the back end out. The rockshox coil is a 65mm stroke (stock is 62.5mm) so gives the bike almost 190mm travel.
I have now sold the bike but continued to use the air shock up until the sale. I just found the air shock was more suited to the type of riding that I do mostly. Sounds like you tried a few different options and I think that's the best way to find out what works best for you. I honestly think that one of the newer type coil shocks with the hydraulic bottom out would be ideal for this bike. I think the new rockshox coil has it and also the EXT coil shocks. Might be worth considering if you do have bottom out issues in the future.
Mullet
Just wondering do they come with pedals
My bike did not come with pedals and in most cases bikes are not supplied with pedals. Some times a pair of cheap plastic ones are included but not always and i'd recommend not using these as they don't offer the same grip as a quality set of pedals. I use Crankbrothers stamp 7 large pedals as they work really well for me.
wich size did you choose and how tall are you? do you feel too much strech out when you pedal? the top tube looks pretty long on paper compare to the reach
Size Large and I'm 5'11. I feel the size is pretty perfect. I would like the front end to be higher which I'm hoping I can achieve by fitting a higher rise bar and possibly a longer travel fork. I did consider a shorter stem as it comes with a 50mm one, but think that would make the reach a bit short for my preference.
@@4KMTBRiderhi bud, im 5'7, should I go with med or small you think? I want something playful & I'm in control of. Ty
@@mikeburgh3956 the Nukeproof size chart suggests a medium for you and I would think that would be ideal. You can always get a shorter stem to reduce the reach if required, dropping to maybe a 35 or 40mm one.
@@4KMTBRider ok ty! I do have a 40mm stem & 35mm rise bar.
How tall are you?, I was looking into a bike with 27.5 tyres and a lot of sources say you can’t be 6 foot or over which I am 🙁
I am 5'11 and it's a good fit. I personally think 6ft or 6ft 1" would probably be the max height for this size. Of course you can change the seating position and bar height as well as stem length to suit. The Nukeproof sizing chart seems to be pretty accurate.
I am 6'1 180, my Nuke came with 29s, switched to 27.5 immediately. I prefer the quicker response on the tech. rocky terrain here in Colorado. Love this hard tail
Hey just looking at one of these Kenevos second hand and wondered if you still have yours as can't see any recent videos of it?
I have indeed sold the bike. Although it was a great bike, I decided I wanted to just ride a regular bike. Swapping between the two was quite the change due to the weight and ride characteristics as well as none of the people I ride with having ebikes. I do plan to get another ebike in the near future though.
@@4KMTBRider thanks for the quick reply and good luck in the never ending search for THE bike 😁
Exactly the bike I am saving for.
I am saving for this one, because I wanted build bike over time. Was about just start with a frame, but after building just it just to expensive if just find every part supercheap. I think this one will service this perfectly. I get functioning bike 😊
I have a more crosscountry treeking bikepack mtb, so my idea was to have more dedicated mtb. Currently I run my my trekking bike. I am however fairly new. I just sometimes ride blue trails
My conditions are similar to yours here sweden
Also liked your video because I feel i could relate a bit more. The trails you ride is like most of mine =)
It is a very capable bike and I think you will enjoy it! It's a really good base to start with that you can build on over time if you wish. Hope you get one soon 👍
Good luck with the build, look forward to seeing it take shape!
Thank you!
Good video. Nice bike. I ride a Giant Revel hardtail. It feels very "dated" and weird riding position because it's 11 years old & I have owned a brand new Orange Five Evo for the last year or so, so that bike has made me realise just how good a bike actually can be! I may replace the Giant with a more modern hardtail at some point, hence why I was watching your vid!
It's amazing how far bikes have come the last 10yrs or so. Hardtails are great aren't they, simple yet effective! Orange 5 looks a nice bike and British 💪
@@4KMTBRider Yes, I love the fact that the Orange is hand built in Britain & feels so good and such quality to ride! My reasons for having a cheap & cheerful hardtail are the same as yours - something to take out in the winter & when it's wet and muddy & for less maintenance. Also the same issue as you in having to avoid the temptation to put nice trinkets on it (making it more expensive) - like Hope parts!
@@I-Love-Taylor-Swift hardtails for winter make so much sense. Less is more! Hope tech parts are very nice. Hard to resist! I'm sure some will make there way onto my bike at some stage 😆
how did you manage to get that for 670 😮
Minor cosmetic damage and no warranty but it's the same as buying a used bike. In fact the used ones at the time were more money 🤯
@@4KMTBRider bargain m8t all about 850/900 for one that's not bad condition i was hoping to pick one up for about £650ish you got some deal there m8t that's the cheapest iv herd of iv been watching them for a about a year now
@@Barry43 Yeah winter time is probably the best time to catch the bargains. I honestly didn't expect to win this one as i'm usually out bid by someone. Keep looking out and a good one will turn up before long 👍
Not sure if you’ve got yourself sorted now but I just bought one yesterday in the Chain Reaction Administration sale for £699. Pay by credit card and your purchase is protected, but I’ve ordered some other stuff from them too and they were delivered on time as promised. I’ve gone the Scout 290 Race, which is the same bike, slightly larger frame and 29 wheels. Might be worth a punt if you’re still looking.
How is the compliance? Ride feel? 😅
It's pretty good. I would prefer the front end or stack height to be slightly higher but thats all.
@@4KMTBRider ohh nice planning to buy a chromag stylus because it's chromoly (steel) you know "steel is real" compliance ride since you replied maybe i'm going for scout 275 😅
@@baralidasan1487 Yeah i'd like to try out different frame materials, such as steel or carbon and see how they compare. 👍
Just bought a 2022 scout Medium size I’m 5ft 8 and im wondering if it’s the correct size? What size is your and how tall are you?
I am 5'11 and have a size large. Do you think the bike to too small or too large for you? Bar roll, bar rise, stem length, saddle rail position, stem spacing are all things that can be slightly adjusted to help with fit and worth trying out to make things a bit more comfortable in terms of fit.
I am the same height as you and ride a medium scout, fits well!
Nice review , just out of curiosity, would have you have rather gone with the 29’’
Thanks 👍 If this was my only bike I would have probably gone for 29" but the 27.5" was the only one available at the price I payed so that influenced my choice the most. 29" wheels would make the bike even more capable so worth considering.
@@4KMTBRider I understand, it seems like you got a great deal anyway

Can u mount a go pro on it?
Using a sticky Gopro mount probably yes, although I've not done this myself
Looks like an XC track 😂
Is 1/4 the best size for most cables? Is there a smaller option? (I am on a road bike)
There might be a smaller option, this was all I could find at the time and it is a bit bigger than ideal. My current Nukeproof frame has small cable entry/exit ports so this method won't work as there just isn't enough clearance. Just something to be aware of and worth checking first.
really enjoyed this vid just an average bloke that wants to get better like a lot of us. chicksands is also the favoured place to ride by me and my family plenty for all levels to enjoy, was there yesterday.
