      Know that the info in this video is not correct. The + is for the integral lighting connectors on each panel, not the panel power connectors. And the numbers he is referring to are not Part Numbers, but are actually Functional Item Numbers, for locating the panel physically and within manuals. The part number of the panel is a different number.

  • @0sus

    Just a question, nothing serious but in the video you mention packs are just "packages, collection of different components" but isn't it a abbreviation for Pressurization air conditioning kits? i know its a little dumb to point out such a small thing but i wanna know whats correct lol

    • @TypeMastery
      @TypeMastery วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah to be honest i've never seen that abbreviation written in a manual, but If you have please let me know because I'd love to find out where that name has come from. Best thing I found in a manual was "packages" but only ever saw that once. Glad you enjoyed!

    • @0sus
      @0sus วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@TypeMastery Thanks for clarifying! I haven't seen it in any manuals myself because I don’t take my learning for the A320 that seriously (I'm not a pilot), but I've heard a lot of people use different terms for PACKS. It seems like people come up with their own names, Other aircrafts use the term PACKS, so maybe that's where some of the confusion comes from. But I think what you said about them being "packages" is correct

    If you checked the FO's PFD, you would have seen that its LOC indicator had failed. That's why the failure in the EFB is called LOC 2, LOC 1 would've been the captain's side.

    Airbus uses a specific method to identify the location of components on aircraft - a unique identifier known as a Functional Item Number (FIN). All components not specifically related to a circuit are identified by fictitious circuit letter V. The second letter defines the type of component. VC - Electrical connectors VU - Panels / Racks The panels and racks are identified in fictitious (imaginary) circuit VU by a numerical designator. Example: 123VU - 123 : Component prefix VU : Fictitious circuit code VU - Virtual Unit The circuit letter M is reserved for mechanical FINs. Example: 2381HM. A complete list of system/circuit letter codes and an explanation of the FIN breakdown can be found in the Introduction of the Aircraft Schematic Manual (ASM), Aircraft Wiring Manual (AWM) and Aircraft Wiring List (AWL).

      I can only imagine the size of the full printed documentation for maintenance of these commercial jets. I work on product R&D only and even a small device can get quite a ton of documentation, a commercial jet I can't even think about, let alone something like a cruise ship.

    • @mgardiner2725
      @mgardiner2725 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Kalvinjj they can be quite large. But I haven't seen a printed version in years now. Everything is digital and interactive for the most part which speeds up the process and allows easier updating. Worth adding we don't recommend flight crew start pushing on these items in an attempt to restore functionality. They're generally marked for maint personnel to ensure good connection upon replacement of the panel itself.

    • @Kalvinjj
      @Kalvinjj วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@mgardiner2725 Makes sense nowadays indeed, I remember an engineering class about industrial radiography where they showed an old video where they were inspecting a 737-200 engine and grabbed some of the maintenance documentation, it was an enormous encyclopedia, and that was only one part of it. Must be quite incredible to see the entirety. I imagine they didn't even send one with each jet back then, just as many copies as the airline needs.

    What cabin temps do you usually set for flights?

    • @TypeMastery
      @TypeMastery 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I like it cold, so minimum temperature for the flight deck zone. It doesn't usually get all the way down to 18 C, usually it stabilizes around 20 C. The cabin generally we keep somewhere between 20-23 C. It's not an exact science, each airplane has a different amount of air conditioning power. We normally just set the temperature selectors coldish and change if anyone complains.

    • @ClevaTreva
      @ClevaTreva 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@TypeMastery Cheers. Without knowing anything at all about this subject I have always set mine at 21/22/22 😎 It's something I'm incredibly OCD about even in a sim. Lets clarify the blue crosses mark the place of the connectors of the background lighting only, not the entire panel. The V numbers are not part numbers but FIN (Functional Identification Number) numbers. A VC is a connector, not a switch.

    How do you time your holds? standard 1 minute pattern? do you have a rule of thumb say, 2 minutes for the turn and 1 minute patterns so 6 minutes to complete the hold??

    • @TypeMastery
      @TypeMastery 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Each turn is rate 1, so 3 degrees per second. For a 180 degree turn, its 60 seconds, so 1 minute. Each straight leg is timed at 1 minute. So a standard hold is 4 minutes total. Above FL 140, the straight legs increase to 1.5 minutes so the standard hold becomes 6 minutes. The straight legs can be defined by a different time, or by a certain distance. This depends on what the chart says. Hope this helps :)
