On March 14th, 2024, Supervisor Turnboo held a meeting in his office (I attended online) with representatives from county offices, the Forest Service, and the company that produces the biomass facility. There were maps designating where the facility would go along with photos of existing facilities to show scale. At no time did Supervisor Turnboo say this was simply a "vision" or an exploratory meeting. At no time did he clarify that the sawmill was a portable sawmill in this meeting. He talked as if this was a done deal. Plus, there are several articles in the Mountain Democrat were written as if this was a done deal as well. To be clear, when the meeting was over, I thought there was a plan in place and that this was moving forward. This impression was clearly shared by others who attended the meeting. Everyone who spoke in front of the Board of Supervisors was respectful and courteous. Supervisor Turnboo's obvious anger over the push back raises more questions than it answers. Calling out Mark Almer was unprofessional and unwarranted.
