Well the chap with two children and a fag on the go deserved a medal, he bore it all with a smile ... priceless..😂 looked a great atmosphere and the fair appreciated by the town.. great build up footage as well..thanks. Never been, but used to love the fairs in the greater Manchester area in the 1970s

Great films .. captures the time and the flavour , thank you.... good to see the build up.. The hours I spent in summer stood aside John Walter shaws easy rider or waltzers when touring Manchester area.. fabulous music etc… most noticeable.. no obesity and everyone engaged face to face . Not engrossed in a mobile ..we had the best of times…loved it all.

How I wish I had been at this fair

Most of those kids now will be in their late 40s I worked similar rides for Pat Collins, funfairs . I was young and fit now I’m in my 60s not so fit so scary how time goes by so quick message to all you young people enjoy while you can go so quick.

Lovely rides: SBD "Mach 1" dodgem cars, Bakker Dennies Ramba Zamba (very rare ride), Reverchon "Europa" dodgem cars, Children's Ark (possibly made by Lang Wheels?), Hrubetz Round Up, Hayes Fabrications Ferris Wheel (I think?), cute kiddies Ferris Wheel, vintage Cakewalk, Lovely 1950s children's roundabout, Some Jolly Tubes in the background but don't know who made them, Wools/Tivoli Orbiter, Lakin Waltzer (I think), Reverchon "Jubilee" dodgem cars, Supercar Ghost Train, Chance Zipper (rare machine), Swinging Gyms in the background, another Tivoli Orbiter (slightly later model), Tivoli Tip-Top in the background, Great video from a great era :) lovely to hear Gardner generators chugging in the background powering the rides, a sound you don't hear much now. Lovely to see how many people know you and your camera, a VHS camcorder was a rare sight then!

I prefer the older rides of the 80s.....Grantham fair is just awful these days.

The mid lent fairs were never the same after the 80s..just overpriced rubbish now sadly and that's the reason people won't attend..

I remember the hissing sound of the ramba zamba...great era for the fair.

Fair was so much better then..much cheaper...
