Kay's Denture Journey
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 13 ก.ย. 2021
This is my story and my journey on getting full dentures in the UK aged 46! Watch me from the very beginning to the very end of my denture journey. I am hoping to help others going through the same process, give an insight to what happens and hopefully answer all those questions relating to getting dentures and then having the dentures and what they are like, how to look after then, what works best etc. If I can help just 1 person, I will be happy.

@@bieberfan6300 not really. I'm so fed up. I will be doing an update video in the next few days x
Are these just immediate dentures?
@@Tinkerwoo no we don't do immediate dentures here in the UK these are permanent ones xx
Getting all my top out in 2 weeks. I'm petrified to say the least. Thanks for sharing makes me feel not alone
I will be loosing my bottom teeth but opposite of you. The front 6 will be coming out
Thank you for the update, Kay. I pray for you every day. It sounds like things are improving finally. Wishing you a healthy, Happy New Year! Love and blessings from the U.S., state of Connecticut. 🙏❤️🙂
Absolutley wrong unfair and so depressing for you
Hi, Kay, It's good to hear from you! I sent you a link to a hand cream my daughter uses. She's a veterinary nurse and washes her hands SO many times a day. She gave me a tube. I use it on my lips, too. I take medication at night that just dries my mouth and throat very badly. This cream moisturizes much like Vaseline but not quite that texture, a much nicer texture. Using it on my hands, I only need a very tiny bit. The tube lasts forever. Chapsticks can dry lips out, especially if they're flavored. We unconsciously lick our lips more and make them drier. This cream lasts for hours. I love your puzzle, and isn't it wonderful to score a bargain! I'm so happy most of the smaller hardened places have disappeared. I pray for you every day for healing. 3 years...such a difficult road you've been on. God bless you, and may you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.
I'm so sorry for your bad experience during a time that is supposed to be so exciting and life changing! What a disgrace. Please get a second opinion/second dentist to do them correctly and get refunded for this time around hopefully! Anyone reading this who isn't satisfied with their treatment whether it be dental, medical, etc. PLEASE DON'T STOP ADVOCATING FOR YOURSELVES! <3 You mean more than just a patient number on a chart! I wish you the best of luck in the future and thanks for sharing your story!
Yes mine bent at the top. To fit my gum line. DONT GIVE UP
Yes. They are hard. And tiny little teeth for molars. They look nice! That’s how my gums look too. It is hideous and I don’t like it either. Your bottom dentures are not good. Go back. Get bone spurs fixed. Go somewhere else. Don’t give up! ❤you’re too pretty to give up!!! It’s a process.
Oh I kne the feeling
I bet you give one hell of a gum job? 😮
I'm sorry. Those are awful. I hope you get your money back.
Such a palaver No wonder people have no teeth
Prayers for you. The whole experience is awhful.
Good luck! I had one bone spur that was shaved down.
Sorry to see they did not, do them right. I have to go through that on nov 14th. I am not looking forward to it. Kind of scared. Hope they make you new ones.
Kay, What about an X-ray? Can your dentist even do that for you?
@@susanurban4371 I'm not sure. Good question. I have to call them to make a new appointment so I will ask then. I didn't think of that so thank you xx
Hello Kay! I am surprised by your tolerance, of course I don't know what kind of dentists you have in the UK, but here in the US I have never encountered anything like this, if you come to see a doctor then of course he is obliged to fix the problem, in extreme cases do a spot x-ray and remove this root fragment that prevents you from wearing dentures and eating normally. Here I see only his unwillingness to help his patient, so he made it so that you continue to suffer. Keep in mind that this doctor is very bad!
@@vadimshink9257 I do feel very neglected at the moment. I'm not sure if it's like this for everyone in the UK or not but I'm kind of used to it as the doctors I've had seem to neglect me too. 😔
Kay, Hi, how are you doing?
@@susanurban4371 Hi lovely. I'm very fed up! Video coming out tomorrow will explain. More waiting basically. Thanks for asking xx
If I were you, I would ask for my money back. Take pictures like you were showing on TH-cam and report them. If you have to you don’t have to accept that you need to get your money back. 14:00 you’re actually a very good looking lady
Hi Kay how are u managing.... hopefully you are healing better and on the road to recovery ❤ xx
@@paulinelakats8262 I have 10 bone spurs Hun and still can't get my dentures in. I have a hospital appointment in 3 weeks. They may be able to remove them. I just want to be normal 😔 x
@Kaysdentures Awe sweetheart I hope everything goes well at your appointment, your body just needs time to heal, hopefully not too long before you have your long awaiting smile back, it's been a long road for you... You've been so courageous and brave... sending a virtual hug to you X ❤️
@@paulinelakats8262 aww you are so lovely. Thank you for your kind words 💓 xx
looks like its made wrong to me.
I just got my dentures and yeah those don’t look right mine have way more gum material, look your paying for them don’t let your dentist intimidate you make them make you happy, your dentures are not right at all 😳
@@MichaelCasares-q7p aww thank you for this. Definitely what I needed to confirm my thoughts. Very much appreciated ❤️ xx
Look hang in there you have some healing to do and normally after you heal some and the swelling goes down the dentist will re-evaluate your situation and go from there, just remember it’s your mouth be patient but ferm with them ,I’m sure In the end you will be very happy, good luck I wish you the best😊
@@MichaelCasares-q7p thank you lovely xx
How can I email you, I know someone that can help you.
Is this nhs teeth?
Yes NHS ones. They aren't good in my opinion. So hard and so small.
There are flexi dentures a bit softer dont worry
Congrats 🎉
Hi Lovely , i can relate somewhat to what you are going through. i had my right upper teeth out but ny dentist said it would take about 3 months for the swelling to go down enough to take an impression to add them to my existing plate ...tbh your false teeth are terrible and dont fit you at all xxx lots of love to you xxx
Yes they don't fit. I may be able to get the tops ones I'm once the bone spurs have gone but they are just so small. Like they are for an 8 year old! I'll see what my dentist says on my next visit. X
It will take time to properly heal you will know better than anyone when you are healed after healing your teeth should feel comfortable if not tell them something is sticking your gum or what the situation is and they should be able to tweak that for you This is definitely a change to your real teeth now you will need to get adjusted to a new normal (that’s always easier said than done) but in time you will find your own way of adjusting it’s different for everyone so don’t pressure yourself to do this or that just do things that feel right for you at first eating will be different but within time it will get easier It makes me sad to know you are feeling down I think everyone is a little down when they first get them that’s when you are still in healing mode I think more than anything just give yourself time to heal time to rest time to feel how you need to It’s a big change it’s all new to you right now but the day will come when you wear them and won’t even think anything about it sweet girl you are going to be okay and everything is going to get better!!!!!!!!! Sending you hugs and prayers 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Aww thank you so much for your encouraging words. Means a lot. Hopefully that day will come and I will be able to help others. I just have to be patient for the bone spurs to go and then see what the dentures are like for me. They are just so so small. Quite shocking. Xx
You have to heal more. Did you not speak to the doctor about how to put them in, or did they just hand them to you, and you walked out? I don't understand what is going on if you don't know what is going on. I'm sorry this is not the happy day you were looking forward to. I do think you need to be less swollen, and the spurs and not of tooth need to be addressed before the top can be worn at all.
My dentist tried to put them in but they were so painful due to the bone spurs. The bottom ones she put in and said they would always move about! How useful! I will try some sort of glue for them once I have healed. Nothing ever goes right for me 🥺 x
@@KaysdenturesIf the bone spurs is sticking out you can actually remove it. Make sure your hands are clean
Your still beautiful, give yourself time to heal you are so so brave x
Aww thank you lovely xx
Are you getting dentures? I am going for surgery soon and I am very nervous
@@aliceford7652 yes I am. That will be in my next video as I just got them yesterday. I was terrified too but if your teeth aren't good and need to come out it's for the best x
Aww thank you much for this. How lovely of you. I have just started having soup with no bits. Actually quite like is as i dont really eat soup normally. Things are slow but i am allowing myself time. Just praying the dentures are good for me 🙏 lots of love xx
😮 oh my! I am so interested in your recovery as I'm headed down the same path. I am terrified! I'm 70 years old, and they want to extract all my teeth at once ( 21 total). I can't bear the thought of being in such pain. Im so anxious. I wonder if you knew how long it took for your extractions? Did you have twilight sleep for the extractions? You are so blessed to have your Mom there for support, I live alone, and just trying to find a driver is difficult. I'm going to call the oral surgeon and ask more questions. You take care and I admire your bravery. I'll check on your progress again. Thank you for sharing this
@@DeerpathDeb hello lovely. My extractions took about an hour and I had general anesthetic in the hospital so I was completely asleep so didn't feel a thing until I woke up. The main pain for me was stinging. But I think is mainly down to the stitches as they stitched all my sockets up. The pain wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be so don't let this put you off. I'm 2 weeks post op now and having no painkillers. It's mainly just when I touch certain parts of my gums that hurt now. You can do this honestly. If your teeth are bad and causing you lots of pain and problems then take them away.. my worry now is the dentures and how I will get on with those. I am so lucky with my mum. She is amazing and is always by my side when I need her. Do you have a friend or neighbour that would go with you and hold your hand? I definitely would if I was near to you. Bless you. You can be brave too. Yes talk to your dentist . But don't be scared. If I can do it, you can. Sending hugs lovely xx
Hey sweet girl so glad you let us know how your doing if you like soup that would be something easy to eat(heated warm not real hot)also pudding cups would be good even though the road seems a bit bumpy right now everything will get easier and better right now just take things one day at a time allow yourself time to adjust to everything you will look back one day and it will all be a distant memory you will have your beautiful smile and all will be wonderful and happy for you!!!!! Love and prayers sweet friend!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yes, I agree as to the ice packs if your surgeon says that may help you. Did you have ice packs right after surgery? I know you feel swollen, but you look fine, just the bruising. I know how surgery can go: you look better than you feel! Praying for you, praying for an excellent recovery.
No I wasn't given ice packs or anything but it's good advice thank you. Thank you also for your love and prayers. ❤
Sweet girl so thankful you are okay and the surgery is behind you some people do have swelling after having the teeth extracted don’t stress yourself about that it will get better day by day one thing that might make you feel better is to wrap a ice pack in a dish towel and hold it to where the swelling is this will also help the swelling go down a bit sooner when you feel you need to rest do just that it helps in healing everything is going to be okay and at the end of the day you will have a beautiful smile!!!!!! Sending you love and prayers always 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Aww thank you so much for your advice love and prayers. It's very painful. Just want to be better ❤
Hi
@@JJBrothers02 hi sweetheart
You can't move the two procedures closer to each other??
@@susanurban4371 the only way would be to delay surgery and that puts me back at the bottom of the waiting list. I did try all day last week to try and change the surgery date and just couldn't get through. So frustrating. I don't want to be waiting another 6 months for the surgery either. Already been a year. :( x
@@Kaysdentures I see. I just happened to run into your story. Thank you for answering me. I'm going to pray for a perfect cancellation date that would not harm the other person as these things do happen. You're very brave and compassionate to create your story for others to follow. I'm especially thinking of those who are frightened of dental procedures of any kind. I'm following you, and may God bless you abundantally for your kindness.
I'm about to experience the same in the next month or so. Right now, I'm waiting for my dental insurance to give me a more accurate number for my extractions. The dentist wrote up a 9,000 extraction bill. 😮 I'm 70 years old and can not afford implants of any kind, just dentures. I also was told it would be up to 8 weeks healing. Yes, it made me sick to my stomach thinking of the entire procedure. I'm not sure why some of my friends were given a temporary denture. My other friend even told me she had her bottoms right away, calling them "wings". I wish this nightmare was over. I'm retired, and I'll have to start wearing a mask when I go outdoors. Keep us posted, I am interested in how you'll be coping. Best of luck to you!
@@DeerpathDeb aww bless you. You sound the same as me. I hear of people getting immediate dentures and mine were supposed to be ready but now they won't be. I'm absolutely gutted. I'm definitely going to keep vlogging my journey and show you guys everything and be very real. Please keep me updated on your progress aswell lovely. I'll be thinking of you. ❤️ Sending hugs xx
Please don’t let this change you because you are STILL YOU !!!!!!!! I realize the time seems confining but it will go by sooner than you think just concentrate on the beautiful smile your going to have!!!!!!! If you don’t want to go out for walks and things for a bit it’s okay it’s totally time for you to do whatever makes you feel better people who love you will understand if you feel better staying home then by all means stay home maybe whilst your passing time you could catch up on things you haven’t really had time for I will be praying for your surgery try not stress about it everything will be okay!!!!! Hello ello elo lo
Hello Kiddo. X
Wipe
No way jensie x
I waited for 4 years with half my teeth because I did have some ability to chew things and eat and a lot of people were telling me that once I had full dentures I wouldn’t be able to eat anything so I really didn’t know what to do, and in the end I finally decided that I had to face it and get it done because some of the teeth were really painful. So I had 6 pulled and the dentures in and it’s been like 3 or 4 months now and it’s fantastic. I wasn’t so sure at the beginning of the healing time as obviously my mouth was sore and I had no power to bite because of that but I watched people saying that after a few months they were eating pizza and everything and I thought ya right , but guess what I’m literally able to eat pizza and bite with the front dentures which is amazing because half my front teeth were missing so I hadn’t been able to do that in years. I never thought it would happen again. Trust me wearing masks was what I did and now I don’t have to. You won’t regret the decision. You will get your life back in regards to eating and it’s wonderful. I can’t wait to hear how it all goes and good luck. If you need advice I’m here for you just respond to this message❤
Thank you so much for telling me your story. It does make me feel much better like there is hope I will be ok. I can't even remember the last time I bit into anything I always break it up and pop it in. Again thank you so so much. Very much appreciated ❤️ x
@@Kaysdentures you’re welcome, anytime. If you need any other advice I could give you my email or Snapchat or something if you want to keep in touch along your journey but yes I wish I had had someone comment this when I didn’t know what to do. And believe me as much as it’s hard to believe now, you really will enjoy it better with the dentures but let me warn you that they will quite big if you’re getting a full top denture and will take a number of weeks to get used to it and learn how to chew with them but don’t give up. Be determined like I was and you will be able to enjoy eating anything you want. It really was life changing and I wish I had done it sooner
