Hey TH-camrs! I created this channel as a place where you can come to find out about some slightly lesser well known trails around southern California, and thus, some hidden gems you might not have otherwise known about. You can find all the cool, major trails anywhere on TH-cam, but hopefully, I can keep my channel a little more unique by showing you what you don't know about. Every so often I will of course post one of the well known cool trails, but I prefer to stay away from the status quo and provide you with more interesting content. I hope you enjoy and please, get out there and explore....there's so many hidden treasures waiting to be found!
El Cariso Trail, Lake Elsinore, CA
I know this isn't the type of video I would typically post for y'all, but I felt like there just wasn't enough info on this one and it needed a good video. From an mtb standpoint, this is a very boring trail, it's just a dirt road essentially. From a gravel standpoint, this one would be somewhat challenging to descend due to the speeds you would pick up and some of the sandy and uneven terrain. This is a 2.9 mile trail one way and it makes for one hell of a workout to climb it. It is not terrible, but it will definitely wear you out. There are grades of 5% to 10% throughout and it is relentless...but you are rewarded with 2 incredible natural rest points that make for some beautiful photos. I was always wanting to hit this trail just to see if it was interesting and I kept wondering what the conditions were...I had a very different mental picture from what the reality was, so that's why I chose to share this with you....in case you were wondering what the conditions were as well. I would recommend this one strictly for it being a great workout and it being scenic.

So this was a repeat of a favorite trail system of mine due to it's amazing flow. I was introducing my friend to the trails and it's always so much fun and the moody skies this day made for some great footage, so why not make another video of it. These trails are well maintained by some very awesome people, so please respect the hard work that has gone into them, pitch in if you can, and stay o...

This second wagon trail was a toss up. We knew one of them was steeper than the other, but after doing the first, we had no idea if this would turn out to be the steeper one or not, and if it would be worse or easier than the first. It was definitely much steeper, shorter and more chunky. I got hung up in a spot or two because of my reluctance to plow through some big loose rocks I saw ahead of...

This was an awesome exploration/pioneering ride for us. I believe we are the first to video riding mountain bikes down these old wagon trails. They are amazing in terms of the history attached to them and because the views will leave you speechless. If you take the time to marvel at our ancestors using wagons to travel up these trails, once you know what they're like, you realize just how soft ...

This trail system was a fun and interesting experience. It was a completely random pick of something that would be within our line of travel on the way to visit family. It wound up being the only riding I got to do on our 3 week cross country drive, due to time constraints and lack of trails where we were at. This trail system, like most I've looked at across the U.S., was heavily XC. Everythin...

Conquistador is a trail we hit once before-see my video for the prior run in it's entirety. I cut this one into clips so as not to bore everyone to death and because I already have a full video on it. Not much changed on this run conditions wise, despite there having been a ton of rain since our last time on it. This trail has the potential to be an awesome shuttle run ending to whatever route ...

Gatos Ravine is a fun trail to hit out at Mt. Laguna. It's twisty, fast and just flowy and enjoyable. Not a lot to say about it other than it pairs awesomely with the Luge trail for some really awesome flow.
The Luge at Mt. Laguna, San Diego County, CA
มุมมอง 1016 หลายเดือนก่อน
This was another repeat of a trail we’ve hit quite a few times before. This is legit one of the best trails at Mt. Laguna, maybe apart from Noble Canyon. This trail is pure flow, fun and high speed. You will make little squeals of happiness internally (and perhaps externally) like I do every time I hit this trail. That being said…take care on the turns. The turns are not bermed and they can hav...

These are 2 relatively short trails out at Mt. Laguna (less than a mile each). We had never hit these before and Donnie had a chance to scope them out for us so he could navigate. These are definitely good trails to tack onto your ride if you're just out puttering around Laguna and looking for miles. The only real notable thing on Ridgemont Lower is the rock garden nearer the bottom. It's full ...

This tiny little trail system was pretty fun, considering how small it is. And it's so well hidden that you'd never know it exists unless it comes across your radar. It's not documented anywhere and it's tucked away, so it's not something you would ever just stumble upon. There's probably only 2 or 3 short downhills here, but they're fast and fun. We will definitely come back again now that we ...

So this wasn’t a planned video, but since I was hitting Simpson and this was our first time starting the downhill all the way from the flag, I figured I’d capture the entirety of it. I just recently started going to Simpson park is anyone doing group rides at all??
@smilechris123 MTB Tank-Jamie Tatenco is a good one tp follow for that kind of thing. Or Expeditionary Veterans Association.
Great video. Which was the better reward, the views or that long downhill ride?
@PaulJMartinez i liked the good workout the climb provided, honestly. I'd choose the views second. 😍
Great video - Thanks! We are looking for mountain bike trails to try on our upcoming trip to Redlands. This is NOT it. Lol. That is a tricky and challenging trail. Looked like an amazing and fun ride. Beyond our skill level though. You handled it like a boss! Hats off to you.
@bryanandbonniemcbride3010 wow, thank u for the kind words! Yeah, the steep stuff is extremely nerve wracking and only fun afterwards when u look back and realize what u survived! LOL! But Crafton Hills in Yucaipa (it's listed on Trailforks) is awesome fun for everyone, mostly greens and blues, definitely worth checking out. Loch Leven is also a great trail. A long, but amazingly scenic low grade slog uphill, but u get to enjoy a nice long downhill on the way back down!

Watching this Thanksgiving 2024! Went there for the first time and didn’t find the up trail to the top. I basically rode up the M trail about a quarter way and came down. Where did u park and ride up? Great video and ride!
@randybinc.6443 thank u. So the closest u can get to M Trail is by parking here: Parking on Trailforks www.trailforks.com/goto/poi/147578 there is a parking lot at the base of the trail if ur shuttling. If not, it will be a long tough grind back up to the parking lot...which u may or may not feel like doing.
Can you link the Strava Route? I'd love to give that trail a try. I'm in Temecula :)
www.strava.com/activities/6503810537 Hopefully you can view that.
I have a tendency to make a wrong turn or 2 every single time I'm out there, so I do apologize for any wrong turns.
this trail system looks fun. I could see this as fast & flowy. Good stuff.
Great video, the whole ride was fun and flowy!
@@PaulJMartinez thank you!
Where do you park for this trail system?
@@michaelclark714 on Greenwald all the way down, just before the North Gate entrance to Canyon Lake
Real mtb right there , endless single track , awesome video 😊
@@BIGGRIC_MTB23 thanks! Flow trails are my absolute favorite
clippless pedals at your skill level is hell and an accident waiting to happen.
@VonHanzee they're Magpeds, it's like an in between. All the benefits without the risks. I will always become detached in a crash and i can pull any direction to free myself. I only do full clip less on my gravel bike. I'm not trying to die. Lol
Too much fun 🤩 great video
Love it , great production , challenging skills, adrenaline rush but the peace and quiet with beautiful landscape, that’s mountain biking at its best
@@BIGGRIC_MTB23 thank you. That scenery just leaves you breathless. 😍
@ I’ve been through the area several times this year from San Diego to brawley and then back to riverside , it is breathtaking
Amazing trail , great part of history , pretty rough but well worth it I’m sure
That was a great, white-knuckle time. Well done!

@@mtb.chris.9093 Sycamore Canyon in Riverside. This particular trail is called Whiplash
I wonder if we could rally with San Diego Mountain Bike association to clear and update this trail? Does this trail only need brush clearing, or does it also need some feature building?
@OnyxTortoise it definitely needs a little brush clearing mainly. What would be awesome is to leave the main trail as pure flow (when it's free of brush) and add features to the side if people want to hit them. This could be a really fun, just fast dh ending to all the stuff up at Laguna.
Nice! What trail is this?
@Lowridersdoggs it's the Regional Park dh at Crafton Hills
Hey all. Just checking if Hellrazor is still ridable? Before I take a trip to CA, just want to know if its rideable and not overgrown, thanks!
@danishindian2107 wish I could answer that, but I haven't been back to know. I know someone who rode it earlier this year and it was in good shape then, but this one sees little traffic, so I just don't know.
@@faithmata3768 Thanks
This is in all honesty, fuking HILLARIOUS! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I know that trail. That's an old dirt bike trail. That's the I-15 north bound on your far right. We used to ride that back in the early 90's. It's right past the route 66 Cafe that burned down
@@robertdelreal7204 you are correct! The path we pedaled up from the bottom by the train tracks is actually a part of the old route 66 too! Very cool!
You were on a heater down that steep section! 😂 nice!
@@MarioXcore1 that spot is definitely spicy! 🤣
any idea the condition recently?
@markaguirre9035 unfortunately I do not know.
When did these become “secret”?
@d-latz_mtb no idea. I just see them referred to as merely North County and I err on the side of non disclosure if I'm unsure... that way I don't step on any toes or piss off any builders. 🤷♀️
@@faithmata3768 that makes sense. From what I can tell that is double peak if I’m not mistaken. I’ve do work on those trails. All good to share them. 🤙🏼 The last trail you ran was the “Fuhrers Sac or Hitlers e-sac” one of my favorite DH trails in the area.

@@MikeBrown-eq6tz yes they are! 🤣
This looks like a fun trail! Nice video. I live in Victorville. How do I get there?
It's a very short little trail, so probably not worth the drive unless u maybe head up to Wrightwood and check out those trails too. It's listed on the Trailforks app by the same name, which also gives u directions right to it. I'm not really able to pull up directions otherwise. There's an exit with a gas station and tow yard right behind it. You go past those and up a dirt road with a flat spot up top where you park. You will dump out at the railroad tracks at the bottom. To your left down there will be an old, unused portion of the old Route 66, a dirt road that you can pedal back up to the top.
....what a cool soul...ever in Central Cali I could show ya some trails from creek to the oceon..
That title is funny lol
Yeah, I like that the trail name made for a good title like that! 🤣
Looks so fun 🙌🙌
wow, ton of hikers on that trail. Is that norm?
This area gets a good amount on the weekends. This was quite a group.
On the weekends it can be. Not on all the trails, though. I've seen certain ones stay pretty empty, maybe because they know riders will be coming down at high speeds.
❤🇲🇦
Rode it this Sunday. Multiple water crossings, shoes and sock soaked. Ate shit twice and went left instead of right after the creek crossing. Had to climb up and carry the bike, wasn't aware of the other path :D The faster you go over the rocks the easier it is, especially those fun rollers. Waterfall before the climb was amazing.
I'm surprised to hear it's in rideable condition! I wouldn't expect that that particular trail sees much action or that it wouldn't be completely overgrown like everything is right now. 🙄🙄 ugh....soooo much trail work to do on my own trails.
Coming out there from Colorado. Can you take a gravel bike on these trails?
I do some gravel biking myself, and while I have not taken it on these trails, I can definitely say yes, u could.
@@faithmata3768 Thanks Faith I appreciate the response! Safe spinning!
looks like a fun trail. Good stuff!
Thanks man!! 🙌
When are you guys going back there? Could I ride with you guys? Never been on that trail.
@steelrsrvd1 I don't know at the moment. Our plans are kinda up in the air at the moment due to stuff we all got going on.
Hope you enjoyed The desert trail. Did quite a few of those last year. Haven't been this year. We sometimes ride Palm Canyon epic if shutting, or We start at the bottom of Dunn Rd.and make the big climb, We have done it to go all the way up Dunn and cut across to tie in to PCE. Also have done multiple climbs up Dunn and did Hahn to Cathedral, or Down Art Johnson. Great weather there in winter. Main place we ride is Sycamore in Riverside. Then sometimes Hulda Crucs , Greer Ranch. Sky Park. ENJOY THE RIDE!
Awesome! U are a better person than I if u can climb all that! That's beast level right there!! 🙌
@@faithmata3768 No beast, but determined sometimes. I was impressed by you, not that many women seem to ride alot or have that much interest in the mountain bikes. Kudos... to you!
Great commentary 😂
The equipment you stopped at is the warlock mine group Cool history there. The trash alley section is a an unfortunate consequence of drug addiction and private property owners in poverty. It used to be so pretty before all the meth heads started collecting that shit there
I can imagine. It's really a shame. I just love the history of the place and despite a horrific, life changing allergic reaction from poison oak I took home from there that day, I'm so glad we got to trace the original route just like people did back in the day. Very, very cool.
Alot of green, has came back nicely since the fires 😀
We saw some spots that had much more evidence of the fire still than other areas, but nature is definitely on the mend there.

10yrs ago I started from Sapphire rd/Skyline rd and rode the truck trail to Mt Baldy/Barrett Canyon rd East trail. Back then, I rode it by dirt bike way easier. I was just here *today on my Mt bike. I rode the same west path as you. I started from Sapphire/Skyline and turned back around where you did. Someone cleared the road a little, probably about a week ago, but not much smoother. I've watched a few of yr videos. I'm always looking for new riders. If you ever would like another rider to ride with during the week, let me know.
The person clearing the trail is probably a buddy of mine, he's been working on it and he's one of the few people I know riding it. I kinda wonder what's beyond where we turned around, but I've talked to forest rangers about mountain biking down from a side route in from the top and I was warned there were probably unpassable hillside collapses on the trail, so we abandoned that idea of coming down from the top.
@@faithmata3768 My buddy at lives near there told me he used to 4x4 over to Lytle creek back in the day. Im going back there next week but turning left at 1N35 instead of 1N34 East trail.
@wheeleking9049 if u are headed for the west fork of west Cucamonga Truck Trail, I should warn u its pretty impassable. My husband and I came down it from Barrett Stoddard in the summer and it was really bad. We basically bushwhacked from 1/2 of Barrett Stoddard all the rest of the way through. I'd avoid it unless you know someone has done some serious clearing of it. Just trying to save u from some misery.
@@faithmata3768 I guess, I just want to see for myself. If it's pretty bad, I'll just turn around. Thank you for the heads-up.
one of my locals, always up there sending the jumps and features
I'd like to hit this again and hit some of those jumps. I prefer not to hit jumps doing a trail blindly, but I got a good look at them and most of them are within my skill level. It's a cool trail, I just had a lot of anxiety about what was around every bend 😂
@@faithmata3768 yeah! we actually just rebuilt a lot of them.
