The Frost School of Music Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds and Concert Band enjoy a rich history thanks to the musical leadership and support of conductors and composers such as Gary Green, Frederick Fennell, Walter Sheaffer, Fred McCall, Alfred Reed, and Henry Fillmore.

The premiere wind group in the Frost School is the Frost Wind Ensemble, conducted by Robert Carnochan, and consists of the finest wind and percussion student musicians at the university. The Frost Wind Ensemble performs numerous concerts in UM’s Gusman Hall as well as at national and regional conferences/festivals throughout the US. One of the guiding principles of the Frost Wind Ensemble is to seek out and maintain contact with the leading musical minds of our time, resulting in recent residencies, collaborations and premieres.
