like you I had to stop and investigate the difference in tensioner, what i think Gates should done is to put a Tech note in the box or kit to say that its a new type of tensioner and to tighten it to the correct spec, turn counter clockwise until the marker lines up, shame on you "Gates" would save a lot of wasted time....

I've a vw t30 2l transporter CAAC , with an actuator fault but it's a different actuator. Mine doesn't have an electric plug on top, just a vacuum pipe. Is it the wrong turbo fitted?
Probably just an earlier model. The vacuum only units are more reliable

Mine stopped working when i hit a bumper, I'm sure the wires disconnected or broke. I will open and check, thanks old lad
2009 focus titanium estate here had the issue for a while. Can’t solve it. Wiring all good continuity fine. Modules changed on door. Plugs all good still nothing
Did you change the control unit on the door in question? If memory serves the command module is on the passenger front door
@@bradauto changed the module pal yea still nothing. Only thing I can think of now is bcm fault or lock actuator faulty

We did our T6 EGR cooler at the weekend, messy job for sure but 1000 gbp less than a garage wanted to throw it away

Usually one of them will be a screen so won’t have any reading

Great video mate, recently got into golfs myself Got a question though, I’ve got an issue with my crank sensor and it seems the bolt that screws it in has been sheered, making unscrewing abit of a nightmare due to the amount of space we have under there, further advice I’ve found is that I may have to go through taking out the gearbox to reach it. Do you have any advice or tips? Thanks
Are you sure it’s damaged? From memory it’s a 5mm Allen key head and can be very tricky to get on, best with a ball end key. But if it has been rounded out then yeah, gearbox out, I’ve had to do that myself before .

Hello again, slight update I was told the bolt was sheered but I’ve taken a proper look myself and it looks like the bolt is rounded off. Does that change anything?
@@mukhtarzamarad5730 you know it’s a Allen bolt right? So the outside is round - unless you mean the inside is rounded in which case yeah - gearbox out
Hi. Brace yourself for a stupid question. When you say AC needs to be degassed. Does that not mean just letting the gas out?
No, It should be taken to a garage and hooked up to a machine that removes the gas. The gas is bad for the environment and under very high pressure. It can cause cold burns you if get sprayed with it taking the bolts out. This chap may or may not have done that.
This one has no gas in it as the condenser was leaking - but if it did it would need to be removed with an Aircon machine
Isn't that to much vacuum? There should be a very slight underpressure at idle? Stuck pcv valve?

mine is a 2.0 tdi vw golf gtd, 170hp, and im guessing this is the problem, because somehow while running on normal straight roads or in the city it doesnt overheat, but if theres a long incline on the highway and only now in the summer, i saw the water temperature starting to raise over 90 degrees, the oil is overheating actually as it goes to 130 degrees and then the water temp starts to go over 90... and im getting a P0016(crankshaft position code) as a fault on the motor... does anyone have any reccomendations?
First thing is make sure radiator/cooling system isn’t clogged. Check the silica bags haven’t burst (in the expansion tank, I did a video about it) if the water pump is due for replacement then maybe look at that as it needs doing anyhow
@@bradauto Ive checked the hoses, they are all warm so im sure the system isnt clogged as i have changed the radiator because of a leak in an accident. I also changed the coolant at the time. After that i started to notice that the car is staying at like 75-ish degrees in the winter like if the thermostat would stay open all the time, and now in the summer everytime im visiting my grandma like 20 km away just up hill, the engine is already starting to overheat… idk its kind of strange. the fans are working, heating is working, water isnt overflowing or dissapearing, but honestly im scared of something happening if i was to go on a longer journey… timing belt and waterpump were replaced in 2021 and approx 60.000km ago.
@@xcLusiVe4You thermostat part seized? Half open half shut. Check that and make sure it hasn’t got a second one over by the gearbox (small in line one) - doesn’t sound like a pump fault as most replacements are cast (metal) impellers.
Hi Ian, did neither electric window switch work (as in both passenger side switch on passenger door, and the double rocker switch on drivers door). I thought both windows operated independently. When my windows stop working, they both stop together. And like you, I’ve spent hours stripping everything down, door card off, traced all wiring, found no breaks anywhere! 🤷♂️
Yes everything stops as the control unit is the master. 😕
@@bradauto thanks for this! I assumed the control units on each side would be independent, so knowing the drivers side is a master now makes sense. Looking forward to stripping it and seeing if I can finally have windows that work again! Wish I had windey up and down windows! 😂
I gently cleaned trhe circuit board with a soft paint brush.Carbon dust can stop it working.I then used electrical contact cleaner and dried it not too hot with a hair dryer.Once refitted both windows work,

2.0 TDI CAGC (120 PS), 517 000 km : ) Sometimes especially at traffic jam (randomly) engine is overheating (> 90) It could be water pump? Water pump has been changed about 70kkm ago
Make sure your cooling fan is cutting in - this is the only thing to cool your engine when stationary. If that’s ok flow check your radiator for blockages and make sure it’s outer fins are clear of dirt/leaves etc. How long ago was the pump replaced ? Time matters as well as distance

I just noticed you can swap inlet and outlet sensors on the r56 I did that and runs much better now. Can't see any obviously bad readings on the sensor, might be bad cable from vibrations, but will order a new sensor now.

Those are nice DMM's if yours ever fails to turn on it may need a pull down resistor by the transistor that latches it on. I had to do this repair on the same meter.

Hello mate... So just spent a fortune (to me) on an old P2 Volvo V70 2.4d and on start up there's a single bang/clunk on firing up the Engine... Some vibration on idle, but as soon as she's driving the gear changes are smooth and no issue... Could this be the DMF?? 😢😢
Possibly - if In doubt it will eventually develop to be really obvious

Undo the big nut under the oil filter - looking from below it sandwiches the cooler in place 🤞🏻
Could you do this on axle stands? You're doing it on a lift.....

Hi, it’s a fault within the dashboard. It may be repairable but I haven’t looked into it. Otherwise it’ll be a new dash unit which are pretty expensive. They also act as immobiliser control so have to be programmed in so you can’t just buy a secondhand one and one and fit that.
Would this be the same part for a 2011 A3?
