Bringing the aircraft home from the avionics shop after the two EIS systems were installed. Going to take a bit to get used to but I think it’ll pay off over time.

Rickenbacker 4003 Soundcheck
มุมมอง 14K16 ปีที่แล้ว
My first video post. I've been tweaking the sound of my Rick 4003 trying to get "that tone" and I believe I'm close. It's an '83 Rick 4003, jetglo, played through the mono out. Trace Elliot GP7SM 200 watt head, Hartke VX 4x10 cab (originally part of a 3500 combo the head has been removed). There's also a Marshall 3520 bass head, but it's not being used in this vid. A shout out to my friends fro...
I love that sound! Thanks for posting!
Yes it does! , IO520`s music! ...or 550s? 😉
-520’s.
Looks Great! Who did the install, How much did it cost and is it integrated into your 530?
Bevan Aviation at ICT. Let’s just say “not cheap”, but there’s a lot to do ….there was no previous engine monitor on this plane before. Not integrated yet to the 530, but I plan on returning to Bevan to have that done along with reprogramming the main screen to include amps and bus voltage. Still a few things to have them “clean up.”
was it around 15 k installed ? @@stlflyguy
nice bird
What do you normally cruise at and fuel burn? Thinking about a d or e 55 baron
I plan 180-185 knots. At the lower altitudes you might plan 28-30 gph at max cruise (24.5” MP, 2500rpm, maybe 190-195 kts) or back towards 24 gph at 9-11000’ with FT and 2300 rpm, 185 kts.
@@stlflyguy that’s pretty good. Thanks the barons are probably the best plane for my mission
My Amplification history. Behringer BXL3000 - my first gigging amp, got the job done. Carlsbro 150watt Bassbomber - complete crap. Hartke A100 , 100 watt combo - great little amp, lots of power, great E.Q Trace Elliot GP7SM 200 Power Amp and 15" Cab (400 watts peak) - IM INLOVE !!!! ;)
@636117 Wow...that was pretty 'dickish' of a comment.
@unusualmuse I watched interviews he switched between a lot
@BassistCrom Luckily the only Hartke item here is the cabinet. I'll have to post another vid with the Marshall head hooked up.
@unusualmuse I'm sure that's debatable...!!! Yes, more of the albums from about the Permanent Waves album onward saw the increased use of the Jazz, but not entirely. The Ric was still used extensively even throughout the Signals album...and the only non-Ric base on that album was the Steinberger.
Rickenbaker 4003 Kick Ass but Hartke Sucks !!! ASHDOWN FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another aspect of Geddy's tone is... he didn't record with a Ric! While he did play the Ric live, in the studio he almost exclusively used his trusty Fender Jazz.
Listen to the actual song.
stlfyguy. Ha haaa. Nice reply from someone who actually DOES have the guts to post a vid of themselves. Don't let 636117 phase you, he probably has a tiny willy and lost all his money on the horses today. ps. Nice genuine Ric sound, I think he must have bought one of those cheap copies, and didn't notice the name on it, 'Baconrasher'. (Ya can't educate pork either), LOL
Maybe we'll be lucky enough to see you play yours. We're all waiting...
if this is the sound you want, go for it. luckily, my Ric doesn't sound anywhere near that bad.
H3500 is a great head. I own a H5500 model which is just the same as the H3500 it's only more powerfull (H5500). Great head, great sound, excellent price. I recommend it. It's main plus is that it has a tube preamp aswell. Can come in really handy, as it can produce a really warm sound.

Actually, I don't know. You're looking at a Hartke VX3500 combo that isn't a combo anymore! The Hartke amplifier was removed by the previous owner, leaving it just a 4x10 cab. A two space head fits nicely. For the vid I used a Trace Elliot GP7SM head--but that's on top of the cab. I have a Marshall 3520 bass head actually in the cab, but it's not in use for the video.
are Hartke amps good? im thinking to got a 300watt cab and a 250watt head both from Hartke
"through the void, to be destroyed, or is there something more"
Yeah, he uses a BadAss bridge for the increased sustain. The pickups I believe are stock as they are part of the Rickenbacker sound. Crank the gain on the treble side and you're "clanking" with the best of them.
One aspect of "that tone" is that Geddy used a replacement bridge on his Ric you can see it clearly on the record sleeve photo. I also think he may have replaced the bridge pick-up with a Fender or fender style pick-up but I've not seen that documented.
