Hi we're Paul and Natasha and live on our 57ft narrowboat wakamata ndoto.
We've been liveaboards since the beginning of 2020, we have spent the first couple of years preparing to be totally self sufficient and off grid, with the installation of solar panels and a composting toilet, so the only service we currently need to use is a water tap to fill our tank every few weeks, hopefully eventually we won't even need to do this as we are considering installing a water filtration system in the future. We gave up our mooring at the end of December 2021 to become continuous cruisers.
We have also become registered roving traders on the canals which means we can develop our recyling/crafting and ecological sustainable cleaning products businesses.
We hope you enjoy sharing our journey and adventures of life on a narrowboat with us and that you find some of the content useful.

how long does 200 litres last you?
Approx 2 weeks, that includes running washing machine a couple of times as well as showers, cooking and washing up
Hello! I must say, your video quality is fantastic, and the topic you chose is very engaging. However, I noticed your content might not be reaching its full potential in terms of views and engagement. There could be some aspects of your channel or content strategy that are limiting its growth. I have some tips that could help you organically grow your audience. How can we connect to discuss this?
well done Paul! Good luck on your new ventures 😊 take care and stay warm! x
@@BoatTime thank you, exciting times ahead, you guys stay warm and safe too, but hugs to both of you and Rufus x
Yaaaay! I'm famous! 😅 😊 See you soon x
Can't wait!
Great video, thanks for all the information
Glad it was helpful!
Time you two got another boat. One with oars may be easier on Paul. Or one without an engine maybe. IYKYK! xx
One without an engine maybe?

sooo exciting!! WELL DONE! 🎉👏🏻 Bless you tash, hope you were still able to enjoy it 😊Paul you are so lovely and supportive. crazy that you had to tow, well done on that too 👏🏻 an overall great experience that you’ve got forever now 😊🎉
@@BoatTime despite the towing and my nerves we did manage to enjoy it, would like to do again at some point as think we’d get more out of it second time…plus maybe even the trip to the barrier 🥹
Really interesting video❤
I commented on another video of yours about investing in a tripod but also think you should invest in a gimbal for your phone/camera - it allows for a smooth (less shaky) video experience. Really like your videos, hope you get more subscribers!
We have one but not always possible to use
Very interesting thank you. Just a little criticism if you'll allow? As lovely as your heads are... two giant heads filling the screen don't make for a great video - invest in a tripod to keep the camera further away and to show more scenery in the background. Appreciate the info on the old canal, it would be lovely to see it cleared up and made use of again.
Thank you
Well done on your talk guys that’s really cool! 👏🏻😊 Hope the kids loved it. Happy cruising and trading
Thank you. They loved it, asked lots of really good questions
We love our dog treat jar and macrame. Looks great on our boat😍
Thank you
Why are you mumbling?
Great vlog on visitor centre if only more u tube boaters came here to learn about what was the black country, so much history to learn about, Evan David from c.c. made a fool of himself last year. Standing on Engine lane bridge he was asked a question, As part of a BCNS. 24 HR CHALANGE RALLY, He did not have a clue the question was, why did Thomas Telford like brick BRIDGES?. A simple question, he had not got a clue made a fool of himself So yes the ans, to that and what was the black country can be found inside the visitor centre.
This is a great vlog that really shows the behind the scenes of how hard narrowboat trading can be! Well done guys 🎉😊 Glad we were able to stop by! And thanks for the amazing cake 😍🍰 was so tasty!!
Good to see you, glad you enjoyed the cake 🍰
So you cannot move before 08:00 hrs ?
You’re not meant to run your engine when stationary between 8pm and 8am, people do move before 8am it’s just kinder not to if you don’t have to
I think that Tash is trying to tell you KISS (keep it short & Sweet). other than that a great Vlog👍👍👍
Obviously there is not a fuse fitted on that wire best you fit one ASAP then check everything else is fused
Has been removed
I've been fitting out boats for 20 years can never understand why builders don't put a 2 way switch system in for the water pump, 1 switch in kitchen 1 switch in bathroom, this is how I've done mine, so when you use the kitchen or bathroom you turn the water on when you've finished you turn it off, so many boaters never turn the water off, go to the pub or shopping and come back to an empty water tank and the contents of said tank in the boat, easy to do. Slightly different for you as the water may off prevented a fire, if off hours the main fuse or light circuit fuse had tripped, if it didn't I'd be checking why I'd didn't???
Many upgrades to do as we improve over time, we do switch electrics off when away from boat for any length of time, was only a short period of time for this to happen
Hello both from Wales.
Hello, thank you for watching
oh that’s such a shame! we definitely wouldn’t fit haha
Don’t think any modern boats would, definitely only one for historic boats
We walked past your boat at your mooring spot in Birmingham on Sunday 😃
😍😍🥰🥰
So terribly sad bless him 😢
A very happy new year to you all too 😊😁
Yep metal peace hanging under tunnel is in the way
And You
Pj day was fab thanks! Very much needed!! We'll have to meet up once more before you Head out of Birmingham!! Hope you had a great Christmas!!
Definitely catch up with you soon 🤗
If that metal crap wasnt there u could go in
I love chocolates 😊
Sounds logical to increase fees for CCs - user pays.
Think the reasoning behind the small rise was explained that CCs use facilities & infrastructure much more than a marina based boat which maybe fair comment? CRT have an uphill battle at some places like Lee navigation as its choked solid with old boats that never move & half with no licence. Downside is it may have opposite effect and see more boats with no licence at all.
Hi Paul & Tash! looking at the state of your fuel filters and the amount of detritus on view it might be a good idea to get your fuel polished so as to get the fuel tank clear of crap, Regards Mike
Evening, it’s now on our maintenance list
Hi you two good to see you pottering along ! Enjoy yourself .
Loved the fair with all the different things going on - the boats with their crafts, the bikes and horses - how often are there events like that along the canal? I had been wondering how narrowboats were removed from the water - they are often such long boats. Here in the states, many marinas have one of those boat hoists that lift them out of the water and the hoist itself can move. It's always a bit of a letdown to see all the work the hull needs after just a year or so, but then, you can't see what's happening down there until the boat is out of the water, right? 🙂
Hi, there’s Events on the canals most weeks during the summer months. Yes some yards here have cranes for lifting boats out too, think I prefer the tractor and trailer! Regular inspection is definitely the key to looking after the hull. Thank you for watching.
I forget to press record so often 😂
I am surprised by the quality of your videos. Such a great content.🥰🥰🥰
BSS. like a car mot On the day its down to examiner on His interpretation But all done aok so get a pint down. Only sorry its not at the Crooked House
Great to catch up with you yesterday at Bratch Locks really enjoyed it
Good to see you too, thank you for subscribing
yes enjoyed your journey through Brum Evan the motor way section How they managed to build it so close to the canal, your comment about fire house goes back to the blitz in the W WARS to put fires out during the war. My dad was a warden often played with his hats water jug when i was in my short trousers enjoy Bratch remember red before blue
Blue before red coming down, was a bit daunting with no lockies on
you will hsve to take the trip boat
Yes managed to do that last summer
