Mini Altoids EDC Tin
I wanted to scale down my EDC Kit to something so small and compact that I had no excuse to leave it behind. Pouches and bags are great, but this time fits easily in the watch pocket of my jeans and has tons of useful items.

    You could invest in a military poncho. They are tough / rugged and large enough to be used as a shelter and to protect your ruck from rain and snow. Another item is a 1-2 liter single walled stainless steel bottle. You can boil water in it. And having a secondary water container is a must. If something were to happen to the bladder and hose (Freezing in a blizzard or bladder cracks or is punctured some how) you would need to improvise quickly to be able to carry water. (FYI Kabar does not recommend you baton with the knife because it is a rat tail tang) Also a cheap knife company is Morakniv out of Sweden. They make some very good quality fix blade knives. You need to invest in a CAT tourniquet and israeli dressing.

    That ka-bar isn’t designed for bushcraft work, the tang is thin and will break right where the handle meets the blade, it’s a fighter not a worker, you’re water stuff is ok but put them in a heavy duty ziplock bag that can be another way to transport water but primarily to keep filters clean

    Location awareness for the type of bag you have is also important. When I lived in NYC I used an Oakley or North Face bag for mine as looks like every bag people carry on them going to school and work. It didn't say I'm carrying unique gear, knives or a gun which would draw unwanted attention. When I moved to a free state with a large joint base and military community, my bag was a molle laden Maxpedition since those were popular.

What do you do if the item has an expire date on it and you have not even used it wouldn't it be a waste?

      Some (old)schoolbacks are working good as wel. The lether bags are heavyer but almost rainproof. The schoolbags / sportbacks(30L) are rain resistent but get wet after 90min heavy rain even with cover. Always have a waterproof bag in the main compartment. Greetings from the Netherlands ;-)

    Ah, the old face mask, the illusion of safety.

    • @davedovell9545
      @davedovell9545 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hopefully you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear that face masks are effective at both preventing the inhalation of dust and particulates as well as reducing the spread of airborne and droplet spread disease. These bacteria and viruses, while small enough to pass through the material of most masks, are not floating around on their own. They are bound in moisture droplets and expelled during expiration, coughing, sneezing, etc. Fortunately, these moisture droplets ARE large enough to get captured by the mask with a great deal of success. Proper PPE has kept my wife and I both safe as we’ve cared for COVID patients through the pandemic. I hope this information is helpful!

    • @theoriginaljohngalt2450
      @theoriginaljohngalt2450 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davedovell9545 I’m well aware of that. I wear respirators and masks of all kinds for work, so I’ve taken many fitment tests for masks. I’ve also experienced many of the difficulties and troubles with a variety of masks with different applications. One type of mask could never do multiple things, especially with virus as such. I have lived in a house with the infected and I never masked up and never got the virus. I rarely ever wear a mask and have not got anything so far. Everyone reacts differently with it seems. Good thing you were ok working with patients. All the best!

    Just a recommendation do not use Tuna packs. They are extremely inefficient at calories per weight ratio. They come in at 23 calories per ounce even a cliff bar comes in at 83 calories per oz and to be honest they are terrible as well but it's better then tuna. Just my recommendation.

    Great bag. Wise of you to have clothing, too few do. Only important adds I'd recommend would be two more days of food (you have only a day's worth there) and definitely more cordage. I'd toss a few more fuel tabs in your stove too, I'm able to store nine of them in mine with a lighter and scrubbing pad, have the same one. I've also used it with natural materials, worked fine but slower. Good for you for leaving out all the gadgety stuff.

    I like the pouch. You have a lot of useful items for EDC, but many items taking up space that will rarely be used, if used at all or items that can be easily accessed if needed. More practical items I suggest that will have more use in an everyday situations from home, a lot more cash, a Swiss Card, small container sanitizer, small mirror, spare sandwich bags, chapstick, sunscreen, floss, camping spork, spare sheets of note paper/business cards, a few paper towel sheets.
