You can take your initial oil, let air run through it and while it polymerizes it will get crystal clear as well. The initial color is fleeting and is NOT what causes the yellowing. That comes from the fatty acids that polymerize in the oil. Linseed oil has a specific setup, that causes quite a strong yellowing. Mixing it 50/50 with Walnut oil creates a much better mix of these acids, causing a LOT less yellowing. All your processing will not keep your linseed oil from yellowing. Paint a piece of toilet paper with it. Let it dry where you like, even in the sun. Then put it in a drawer for 2-3 Weeks. Observer the paper gets an ugly, strong yellow tint. There is no way to get rid of the yellowing so far. If someone finds it: Please tell us.

To be honest, I'm surprised that you managed to clean it this way, the alcohol must have evaporated on the first day so it didn't matter anymore. Well, I clean the oil in a bottle. I dilute the alcohol in distilled water to about 70% and shake it, then everything bad falls to the bottom. Sometimes I give some Plantago afra husks, but only a teaspoon, because it swells a lot. But the initial procedure is cleaning in salt water with sand. I will leave the thickening for next season. I was also looking for lead vessels, but it was hard to find anything. BTW, store-bought oil is probably adulterated in some way, with all cleaning process leaving 10%. With local factory oil, about 50% remains.

PORTERVILLELOUIS,SAID: You are flat wrong with guessing, and misleading others. My 30 year old CSO recipe calls for 6 fluid ounces of common spirit liquor of 80 proof ethanol which is equal to 40% ethanol . Six times this equals 2.40 ounces ethanol. Pacheco used 3 fluid ounces of 174 proof= 87% ethanol ( times 3 equals 2.61 ounces ethanol. Pacheco’s spirit liquor which he called “ agua ardiente de cabeza” ( meaning “ the head” ,was the first part of the distillation and had 87 % ethanol). The second part had much less ethanol and is called “ del medio” ( the middle), and the final portion is called “ la cola” ( the tail) which had much less ethanol “ . NEITHER the ethanol portion of the spirit liquor -nor- the water portion evaporate as you erroneously claim. Please read my books and do my tests. HELLO AGAIN: Rembrandt’s sun thickened oil was very viscous! He added two STABILIZING ingredients to his oil paint in order to control the excessive flow of his thickened viscous oil. (A) One was Calcium Carbonate powder that is 99% transparent when mixed with oil -and- (B) the second is Egg white Glair . Both create what Dr. Van De Wettering called THIXOTROPY. This means that the oil paint is fluid as long as the artist moves the brush, but when the brush stops moving , the oil paint also STOPS moving. Additionally, the oil paint retains its every brush marks and shape, without slumping, leveling or flowing. NOTE: I have tested the three conditions of the egg; the Clear Glair, the Yolk, and the whole egg scrambled. Of the three , GLAIR is the best because it is sticky ALBUMEN and has NO OIL. The yolk is pure egg oil and it is a very weak oil . The whole egg has the worst and best of both. Best wishes, Louis R. Velasquez; Calcite Sun Oil . please see my books on Amazon and videos on TH-cam .

The problem with this process for cleaning Flax oil and the further process of "sun thickening" is many people don't live in warm climes. I live in England...I'd say that I'd have to wait for June-Aug to find weather that would be sunny and dry enough , and even then there's no guarantee that it won't rain. I've read the air pump method...I might try that.

Hi, thank you for your video. Well done and clearly expressed. Like you, I also have dedicated my efforts to educate artists around the world, of the wonderful qualities of Rembrandt’s superior oil as he and the Old masters used. Thank you for your efforts. As you know, I created CSO ( my recreation of Rembrandt’s paint binder) from 1 part of superior oil mixed with 3 parts of Calcium Carbonate chalk . The CSO is mixed 50/50 with tube oil paints and results in the Old masters oil paint. .... please know that Rembrandt and the others of his era used an emulsion made of 3 parts of the superior oil mixed with two parts of GLAIR ( glair is egg white that is frothed and allowed to settle. -- this Emulsion will give artists complete mastery of the flow of the oil. Please read my books and watch my free TH-cam videos. I would be honored if you make videos on making and using Rembrandt’s Emulsions. Also. Look up Oscar Econome’s TH-cam video “ refining home made artists linseed oil” . It is excellent, as yours is also. The more artists that share this wonderful ancient knowledge that is completely safe and non hazardous, the better for us all. . UPDATE. ON October 2 , 2023 I discovered CGM. PLEASE see the six brief TH-cam videos I posted. This is a most powerful evolution of my CSO. SEARCH. CSO VELASQUEZ CGM oil paint medium. I haven’t tried using isopropyl alcohol. It contains denaturants, which smell bad, and may interfere with the mucilage separation process - not sure. Thanks for your comment. I’m familiar with the Living Craft book and just looked at page 253. He’s using it in a traditional washing method to remove the mucilage. On the bright side, my collection is growing small but surely. I have 1999, Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day, Parade, and Welcome 2 America. I hope to find Prince and For You this year! That is the goal! Also, Prince’s inspiration for the name “Grafitti Bridge” came from an old bridge that was demolished from my hometown that was nicknamed that for years! Better open those sealed ones. They can't breathe. Causes warps . I've gotta disagree with u on that though. What would a sealed wrapped album be worth? You've got some fantastic pieces. What some of them cost to get today just wouldn't be worth it. Its not that deep lol. But I actually know a guy. A couple of them on here. Hsd everything Prince has ever done.

I know you said you can’t collect everything , but do you have Crystal Ball on Vinyl ?

Hey! Thanks for the question. I don’t have Crystal Ball on vinyl because it was never officially released on that format. I have a few of the CD variations including the 4-disc puck and the fatbox CD version. Hopefully the estate will re-release it as a legacy version. I assumed that was forthcoming when they came out with The Truth Album on vinyl for RSD2021

You have an amazing Prince vinyl collection! Love the ball cap by the way! I have a pretty good size Prince collection myself. I have all the 80's albums on vinyl. I'm missing a lot from the 90's and 00's. I have managed to pick up some of the more recent vinyl reissues. I bought "Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic" "Planet Earth" "Originals" and just yesterday I picked up a copy of the Target exclusive album on clear vinyl "Coming 2 America"!

Nice one. Your collection seems similar to mine, except that yours has more of the singles, and I definitely don’t have a Strange Tales From The Rain. XD My copies of Come and TGE are the promo versions. Hoping for the ‘91 to ‘95 run of albums to be reissued on vinyl before too long.

Hey! Thanks for the comment. It’s great to hear from other Prince record collectors. Love the ‘95 era stuff... not sure we’ll ever see a true gold experience reissue because of TMBGITW. But Come reissue might happen! :) I understand the promo 12” album is a great pressing!

Yeah, I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I do slightly regret not nabbing 4Ever when it was in-print and affordable (made the mistake of thinking that because it was a hits compilation, it would be a bit like Purple Rain in the sense of staying in print forever... lol). Although compilations weren’t high on my collecting priority list for a while anyway, so bleh. XD

Prince is definitely one of my favorite artists ever, I think he's better than michael jackson this might be controversial to some people but I think prince is way better anyday

Nice look at your collection. Its interesting commentary and very nice to see artwork. I was able to go to the Prince shop in Camden in the early 90s but bought nothing! That's how stupid I was.

Hey Water Bearer! Thanks for watching and commenting. I’d love to have seen the shop in Camden.
