Lis Pov has been a part of the Hmong music community for over 45 years. In 1951, Lis Pov was born in Xieng Khouang, Laos where he spent his childhood listening to popular Lao music, because there were no recorded Hmong music at that time. As a child, his dream was to create and record Hmong music for the Hmong community. Much of his inspiration came from the rock and roll style of the 1950s in the USA. In 1970, during his first year in college, Lis Pov began to write and compose his own music. In 1971, at a local radio station, he recorded his first songs “Siab Dub,” and “Koj Nyob Qhov Twg,” which became instant classics and gained him instant popularity within his community. After completing his college education, Lis Pov became an English teacher at Samthong High School in Laos. During the Vietnam war, Lis Pov and his family migrated to the USA where he continued to compose and record his own music. This channel will showcase his music. Thank you for your support.
