Temple Kung Fu • Edmonton, AB Commercial • 1986
Let's cut to the chase: If commercials like these didn't entice you to take up martial arts lessons in the 1980's... well, what can you say. Enjoy!

If you will, let Media Television be your guide into the world of creating TV commercials, with a spotlite on filmmaker Dale Heslip. There's also a when-we-come-back snippit looking at romance novels, but of course that content was not included on this tape. Regardless, enjoy! Like what you see? Seattle TV. Born in Seattle in 2003, so this hits me in the feels 🥲
As far as I know, CITV Edmonton only played the national anthem at sign on.
The stupid Bruins made it to the finals twice and won a grand total of 1 game. As a huge 80's hockey fan, I would have LOVED to see someone else get a shot. The Caps had a couple of really good teams, but never could do much damage in the playoffs. Montreal? With a better goalie before Roy maybe? Hartford? Quebec? It would have been fun!
If you could please post more of the Saturday and Sunday Edmonton ITV stuff that would be amazing!!! Please and thank you!
Shall do my best! Stay tuned!
Gosh, this brings back some pretty deep fond memories. I grew up watching Access Network pretty much every morning -- I actually still remember what time my favourite shows used to be on (and this video confirms some of them). I vaguely remember the non-Disney cartoon version of The Jungle Book (although I had to laugh at the cringeworthy dialogue/editing at 5:21 - "Give me that man cub." "No, I won't." "(roar)"). The station ID followed by the StoryTime at 6:15 definitely evokes a strong sense of nostalgia in me. (Also, is that a young Catherine Zeta-Jones on the left at 4:14?) Man, what I wouldn't give to go back to those simpler days. Thank you for posting this! It's been great going down memory lane.
Glad to help! I have similar memories too, which makes this all the more fun.
Sporstcaster Darren Dutchyshen, a long time on air personality at TSN, died of prostate cancer on May 15, 2024. He was 57.
Perry Como doing the Lord's Prayer but no national anthem is an odd choice. Not something we heard during Saskatoon sign offs. Now "The Journey" by Tangerine Dream, from the soundtrack to the movie Sorceror I can imagine. For a time in the early '80s CBC Saskatoon used bits of Tangerine Dream as before sign on and technical difficulties music.
Edmonton’s playoff experience won them this cup. Along with Ranford’s amazing play. They weren’t great all year. They were just great when they needed to be. Just like the 95 Cowboys, 2000 Yankees and 2018 Patriots
Rock Your World CD is Downloaded.
RIP beautiful Tova ❤️😢
And then it was all down hill from here for the Oilers and the dark ages would go on for almost 20 years
This isn't relevant to real life, but in September 1980, Spokane would get their first Spark facility. The Spark is a facility for teen help & health, where they seeked refuge to get off the streets. The facilities would expand in 1982, and is one of the largest facilities in the Inland Northwest.
Do you have ole Edmonton Oilers vs Buffalo Sabres hahaha ...just asking
the Flashdance ad i have been searching for since 1983 .thank you.subcribed!
What a year it was.
Love this - my favourite decade by far.
1:12 "Jesus Christ, lady! Who bathes like that?!"
3:34 if i was in that crowd, i would’ve gotten everyone to cheer “thank you Wayne”
Do you have one with funk singer Sly Stone in one?
I will keep an eye out!
Who was the narrator for CBC sports ?
KREM has been CBS since 1976.
Thanks for the heads up, easy to get these networks jumbled 😅
This might be hard to do, but can you try and find a Chuck E Cheese's Pizza Time Theater commercial in your tapes???
All I can do is keep an eye out as I create these bundles. Stay tuned!

@@StevenOystonHe got the Mother Of All Hair Transplants sometime between Spiderman 2 and Community. Whatever they did, it's going gangbusters.
This pairs very well with some lobster (with brown catsup), thank you for this! I think I have “Smegheads in Seattle” on a tape somewhere. I need to upload that here one of these days.
They had a convention at KCTS 9 that I got to go back around this time. Kryten and Lister signed a photo for me ❤❤❤
Would the ABC KOMO 4 2003 commercials be during all the ABC Airing shows, if you don't mind me asking?
Can't say for sure, but likely not totally the same.
Oh, I get what you're saying@@bastlake. Not every commercial breaks has to have following airings.
Wish the uploader would put up timestamps for each commercial. Still a kickass upload, of course!
I wouldn't mind working on it, but honestly this is a hobby that I don't have tons of time for. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! Thanks for uploading the CFRN news update. Do you have any newscasts from this era?
Can't say for sure, but I always look for such content. Stay tuned and thanks for watching!
So cool. ❤
Thanks for this....brought back so many great memories 🇨🇦
