The torrential rain had started in the morning, muddying the grounds around Fariba's small hut. The gray sky and the sound of thunder had given a sad atmosphere to this rainy day. In this simple and small hut, Fariba lived with her daughters Diana, Kiana, and Hadith. But life in these difficult conditions always had its challenges.
Diana and Kiana were sitting next to their mother in a corner of the hut, listening to the sound of raindrops hitting the roof of the hut. Suddenly, Kiana pointed to the corner of the room with concern and said, "Mom! Water is seeping through the wall!"
Fariba quickly got up. Rainwater had seeped into the hut from the corners of the roof and walls, making their small space cold and wet. There was no heater to warm them, nor was there anything to prevent water from seeping in.
Fariba, who could not do anything, went out in the cold and rainy weather with the help of Diana and Kiana. They tried to stop the water from seeping in with pieces of cloth and old plastic. Diana said with a voice trembling from the cold: “Mom, I wish we could make this better. We can’t live like this.”
Fariba replied with a bitter smile: “My daughter, this is all we have. We have to be patient.”
They were still busy repairing the hut when Fariba remembered Hadith, her youngest daughter. She was at school and would be dismissed in an hour. Fariba knew that no car could reach the hut on this muddy road. She had no choice but to walk to the side of the asphalt road to bring Hadith home.
Fariba, with an old umbrella, set off on the hard, dirt path. The raindrops soaked all her clothes and the mud made it even more difficult for her to move. But she continued, because she knew Hadith should not be left alone in this weather.
When she reached the roadside, Hadith was standing waiting for her mother with her school bag that was completely soaked. Seeing Fariba, she smiled and said, “Mom, I didn’t think you would come after me in this rain.”
Fariba hugged her tenderly and said, “There was no choice, my daughter, I had to bring you.”
They both walked back to the hut with tired steps. When they arrived, Diana and Kiana had managed to stop the water from seeping in a little, but some corners of the hut were still wet. Fariba and Hadith also changed their clothes and sat down together under an old blanket.
Fariba looked at her daughters’ tired faces and said, “I know today has been very difficult, but together we can endure any problem.”
Diana said with a small smile, “Mom, I promise I’ll fix everything one day. We won’t be bothered in this hut anymore.”
Fariba looked at her daughter with pride. The facilities may have been few and life hard, but hope was alive in the hearts of this family. The rain continued to fall, but the warmth of their love and companionship kept their cold hut warm.
