Hey all, welcome to my channel, I'm Laur, and I have an unhealthy obsession with travel!
In 2022, I packed up all my things, put them in storage, left my home in the UK and started my life as a Digital Nomad. This has been a dream of mine for so long, and I spent most of the first year hopping between countries and living in Bali. As I get settled into Digital Nomad and remote working life, I wanted to document my adventures, and would love for you to follow along!
At the moment, I'm living my best life out in Australia, and will share as much as I can on here and socials 🖤

Please don't film while you are driving. A moment's lack of concentration could have consequences.
Self driving cars solve this
😅
just remember, it can always get done Tomorrow.
Hi! What's the name of the hostel?
It’s called ‘Banana Bunks’ and it’s in Kandy 😊
@@laurwingingit thanks a bunch!
A group of roos is called a "mob of roos".
@@Danger_Mouse_00 haha I never knew that!
do you have to get a translated license from your uk one? i’m travelling to aus in march and we’re hoping to get a vehicle pretty soon into getting there but didn’t realise so much went into it. any advice you can offer will be much appreciated!! 🩷
Nope - as long as it’s a UK licence. Only licences that aren’t in English need to be translated. You can drive on your UK licence for the first 3 months you’re in Australia, so you don’t need to convert it starlight away
It will depend which state you do it in, but in NSW I just went to a service centre with my passport, uk licence and proof of address in Australia and they do it there for you. They take your picture and you pay for the licence and then it’s done 🥰
@@laurwingingit ah thank you! the only issue we’d still have is we want to get a car/van to travel straight from being in a hostel so i’m not sure how it would work with the information cross over since we’d need the proof of address and stuff wouldn’t we? so much to think about haha!
Ahh I totally get you! Honestly I wouldn’t worry too much, soo many people will have done the same thing over the years! I’d go to a service centre when you arrive and just explain the situation to them - Aussie people are some of the most helpful people I’ve experienced, especially when they hear your accent 🤍 alternatively the working holiday groups on FB might be able to help but sometimes I find they give confusing / conflicting advice
Another alternative would be to buy a car/van and drive on your current licence until you’ve met people who’s address you can use when you come to convert the licence
Melb 37c. sun on steroids. enjoy yourself. have fun and take care. (sun glasses) cheers
Thank you so much ☺️
Finally something that's more expensive in OZ than in NZ!! haha their rego, paying sales duty and rego transfer are expensive! we don't pay the later two.... nice car though and I reckon the actual car was cheaper than we'd pay in NZ for sure. have fun!!
Omg no way! I think it’s kind of on par with the UK it’s just we don’t pay Rego or duty but we pay yearly MOT and road tax instead
We call road worthy certificate a pink slip. Green slip is comprehensive insurance which every one needs. Its for if you have an accident the other party is covered incase of injury and damage to vehicle.
Yeah that makes sense!!
Couldn't they except your passport as one proof of identity. That or a birth certificate is normally excepted. But QLD is a bit backwards up there. 😂
Honestly I don’t know why they didn’t accept certain things 😂 it was the proof of address I struggled with the most but luckily the lady was so helpful!
Great video Laur! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Do you think you will be living there longer like 5 years ??
@@freshtayasiri7283 it really depends on what I can do visa wise! I can use my current visa (417) until September 2026. After then I’d need to look into sponsorship or student visas I think!
Place to be . So cool! 😊
Thank you for watching!
great video! ill be moving from UK to gold coast in January:) Any tips for finding a job over there?
thank you so much for watching! Depends what you want to do - hospitality is very well paid compared to home and gives you the flexibility of travel and work. If you're looking for something more 9-5 / corporate, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne will be easier places to find work, and recruitment agencies are a bigggg thing here - you definitely want to be reaching out to as many recruiters as possible :)
So I’m 35 and want to come in January can I re apply before I’m 36 for another yeah so I get 18 months
@@Ironz89 I’m not 100%c but I’m pretty sure, as long as you’re already in Aus & on your first working holiday visa when you’re 35, you can apply for your second visa before you turn 36 and still get the whole second year. I’d recommend joining some of the working holiday Australia Facebook groups and searching/asking in there as I’ve definitely seen people ask this question and get answers before! 😊
If you're working online I was wondering how do you plan to extend your working holiday visa?
Hey! Not sure what you mean? :) you can still do the working holiday if you have your own business / freelance - you just need an Australian Business Number (ABN) 😊 I extended my visa last month and it received in 5 mins 🎉
It’s not hard to make good food cmon😂😂😂
haha I used to judge Aussies for snags too
😢
In the wild? Really? 😐
❤
Hey after you granted visa in how long you have to enter in Australia
For the 417 visa, you have a year to enter the country from the date your visa is granted 😊
Hi for german age limit is 18to 30 but now i am 29 year old if i get now my visa after 2 year can i still apply for third year visa when i am 32or i have to leave country
@@LuqmanMuvashar You wouldn't be able to apply for any visa after you turn 31. So you'd need to be on your 2nd visa + applying for your third when you're 30 to be able to get the third year - hope that helps!
Very cool. Nice compilation. Was the Visa process simple?
Yes it was! Visa on arrival for uk passports ☺️
Việt Nam very nice
It’s amazing 🤩

G'Day, Welcome to Australia,,I hope you have a great time while you are here, I'm not to sure if you are here permanently or not. What ever have a lovely life here...
Thanks so much Lloyd! Very happy to be here 😁
Congrats on the move! Where abouts is the beach from in the intro? Looks so pretty!
Thank you so much! It’s Hayes street beach - right by the ferry stop in Neutral bay 😊
Are you doing the three months job in there? I'm planning to go in the next year but i'm scared to have to live in a very small town to get another year of the visa. Loved the vlog and your house is sooo beautiful, the plants are 👌
I’m on a UK passport so I no longer have to do remote work to qualify for my second visa. However, I have friends (US, European, etc) who have done remote work and loved it! Instead of farm work they did hospitality work in regional areas and ended up saving sooo much money and having a really nice time 😊 thanks so much for your nice comment - I love all the plants too
Do you like the UK or Australia more?
For quality of life, affordability, weather, things to do and the nature - I prefer Australia! The downsides are how far it is from family and friends and cost of travelling abroad from here 🥹
@@laurwingingit for nature???? I mean beaches are great but australia is a gigantic desert whereas UK is consistently green!
@@randomquestions7741 haha no I totally get that! I think for me it kinda goes with the weather and general “outdoorsy” lifestyle here. When I lived in the Uk (London) I never got out in nature - it always felt like a day trip away (or it was raining so the weather put me off)
@@randomquestions7741 put that into perspective the UK would fit just into the state of NSW 4 times and England would fit in Australia 59 times. We have areas of greenery bigger than your whole country we also have deserts, semi arid land, savanahs, lush tropical and sub tropical rainforrest even alpine regions with ski resorts. We are grey nomads and love travelling through them all in our 4WD towing a caravan especially love being in the outback regions (not in summer though) we avoid the touristy coastal areas and big cities..
@@Davo-i1s size of country and consistency is different! I'm not from the UK, I'm from india , it's a shithole here, I rather like UK england or Australia
Looks like a cool place. Hoping to go there one day and do some surfing 🏄 How is it to live there?
@@NicksTravelAdventures thanks for watching Nick! It’s soo cool, I love it. Definitely living the Aussie dream
Enjoying your vlogs, are you in Coolangatta?
@@vickicurrie7109 thanks so much for watching!! I am yes 😊
Lockley Pylon in the Blue Mountains is amazing and is a less visited region of the Blue Mountains. There is a dirt track road at Leura and you have to drive on that road and you drive against the cliff line and the view of the valley is awesome . I hiked the Butter Box point loop track . I really loved it because it was so peaceful and raw . There is no fencing though !
Oh wow that sounds amazing! I’ll definitely go back again so will be sure to remember this 😊
hey girl love your vids! how do you like living in sydney? i’m choosing between brisbane & sydney for my WHV & i can’t choose would love to hear your thoughts xx
Hey girl thanks so much for your comment I really appreciate it! 🤍 I loved living in Sydney but I’ve actually just moved to the Gold Coast! I haven’t been to Brisbane yet but I do hear lots of amazing things about it. One thing I’ll say about Sydney is it actually rains a LOT 😂💀 so if you’re coming to Aus to escape crap weather then I’d probably go Queensland haha xx
Hey I just got my visa granted. Is there anything I need to do or is it litterly just a case of rocking up at the airport and everything will be ok?thanks
so exciting!! The visa is linked to your passport so you can literally just go through immigration scanning your passport :) You can print the visa / have it handy on your phone in case but they shouldn't ask to see it in Australia - maybe at your departure airport though
What kind of visa are you on? Place looks lovely!
@@ragged218 I’m on the working holiday visa 🙏🏼
Looking forward to your opinions and discoveries. Come up to Newy it’s lovely
Thank you! Will do! 🥰
You' ve made it look so cozy! Very nice. You also look a little bit like a younger Jeri Ryan from Star Trek Voyager.
Thank you! It’s definitely a cozy space now 🥰 haha really? I haven’t heard that before!
But with work can you look for work there ??
Yes I have a working holiday visa :)
Thank you so much for your video, going to Melbourne in October this year, started a TH-cam channel to document it!! any more information you have would be super useful. Thank you
Omg yay you will have the best time! How exciting ☺️ I’ll definitely upload a part two soon
Majority of Europeans in Australia are descendents of English convicts and pommes that live in Australia, most English people first destination is to immigrate to Australia as its a British colony.
@@trekkie-cat Australia is a British colony look at the flag British rule majority that live there trace their history back to England and Ireland that is a fact , Australia belongs to the idignoeus Aborigines.
@@Wayne-fn1sw I was born here. I am Australian. We haven't been a colony for a very long time.
@@trekkie-cat Well the Australian flag is under the British and you will never be Australian your skin colour makes you think you belong but the land belongs to the Aborigines.
