Spraying process of Textured Durabak on a restored K20 Squarebody
Glimpse into the process of shooting textured Durabak on a restored K20 Squarebody. The K20 had to have both rockers, cab corners, door corners cut out, and replaced. Also, a few other body areas had to be cut out and replaced. This truck would have been an unbelievable amount of money for a show quality finish. The goal all along was to get this truck restored and back doing what they were built for in the past. WORK - not a garage or trailer queen. #squarebody #4x4 #chevrolet #durabak #durabakprotectivecoatings

      I bought one that looks brand new, and it was way off, I guess, calibration. I carefully pulled the needle and put it on the original. My plan is to figure out needles that fit the square body guages . I couldn't believe there is not one supplier for them.

    • @keithjurena9319
      @keithjurena9319 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@heelerdadadventures Only three things that throw off calibration. First is needle bearings. Second is the clock spring. Third is the magnetic coupling. Dirty needle bearing is most common. This causes low readings. Clock spring is corrosion resistant but not impossible, this causes high readings. Dry bushing on the magnetic coupling causes a bouncing needle.

    So even after the recent 2-ft elevation gain it appears the rate of Lake drainage by the Guadalupe River Authority is still around 12 in per 30 days, so regardless of how much rain and water inflow from the river the lake will never rise to original engineered level.. .

    • @heelerdadadventures
      @heelerdadadventures หลายเดือนก่อน

      The majority of the drop, I am saying living here for almost 28 years is the rate it's being removed by the water company that supplies water all around our area. As far as I know, from working in the utility industry here in our area for about 23 years. Our subdivision built in the 60's is the only one not on that system other than personal water wells. You're exactly right, it will never hold 909. It needs to be let stay up about 915, but they will never do it from fear of it going over the spillway again.

    My family moved to Wimberley in 1982. Still live there. I took scuba diving as a PE credit @ Southwest Texas (now Texas State) back in 1996, and our open water dives were at Canyon Lake by the sunken school bus. The Guadalupe, the Blanco, etc is all drying up. And it’s been caused by all the construction over the years with no consideration of environmental impact. Every time I go home it hurts my heart to see what’s become of my “small town”. No water in rivers, lakes drying up, and a bunch of people everywhere.

      We collect rain water off our business shops for the backyard. In they very near future I am going bigger and more capacity. RO system then replumbing the house to feed the toilets, showers, dishwasher and washing machine. Only leaving the kitchen sink, fridge and bathrooms on our neighborhood water system. I can back feed the plumbing off the shops and the house is on pier and beam. Back off the house has about 6 feet of head room under there. I 100% believe all the larger homes in our area need to collect rain water.

    On July 17, 1987 there was a tragedy in Comfort, Texas when a bus full of kids leaving a local church camp was swept away. 10 teenagers were killed and one, John Bankston, Jr., was never found. His remains are still somewhere in the Guadalupe River bed or banks between Comfort and Canyon Lake. While it is doubtful he drifted that far down river, anyone who can might take up a search if they have the ability (trained dogs, etc.). I know finding human remains, especially after almost 40 years, doesn't sound like a pleasant experience but if he can be found, it would bring some measure of closure to the family.

Our rivers don't usually exist in this state, so we don't have the opportunity to provide education on this sort of water.
